Great place in winter wonderland. While the hill is not particularly high, the ski is great and geared mostly towards beginner and intermediate skiers. Great cross-country skiing as well.
Ruka village is lively and with good selection of bars and restaurants.

Compact and convenient for most things.
Compact and convenient for most things. Skiiers used to Alpine ski resorts will find it small but it has good snow and being amongst trees is lovely. Bear in mind that beginners wanting the easiest slopes should be at the Valley side not the Village side or else you'll need to bus/gondola across.

I was in the summer.... which is still not too warm... so take that in to consideration.
There are TONS of mosquitoes, you wouldn't believe, but still the area is beautiful and the things to is basically kayaking, hiking or just relaxing. you must have a car to get around and it's better to purchase food and cook for yourself where you stay.

Ruka is a great family resort.
Ruka is a great family resort. A winter paradise with cross country skiing and downhill skiing available. There is also a ski school. I recommend staying in Ruka village side rather than Ruka valley side.
Ice slide onto small frozen lake was super popular with my kids as well as watching the ski jumping.
Highly recommend the ski school and Lammintupa for reindeer and husky adventures.

Ruka is a very friendly and family oriented place but my son and his friends enjoyed the night- life at Ruka village too. Skiing is for those who enjoy the more relaxed atmosphere as this place doesn’t have many if any for the more experienced ones. We did not have to queue at the lifts. Nevertheless it is very popular with couples and families alike . There are plenty of places to eat in , or use the take-away services too. We would definitely go back next year. Loved it!

Beautiful place, fantastic food in the restuarants in Ruka Village. Must try Stefans Steakhouse. Do book with Ruka Adventures for experiences, they are exciting, genuine and very helpful. The Cabin is cosy and warm and an ideal place to relax. Would highly recommend to all.
Second time staying in ruka ski chalets, they’re spacious, modern, clean, great location, ample storage, well equipped, washing machine, dishwasher, drying cupboard, very secure, inside ski lockers (unfortunately no sauna in this property).
Good communication prior to stay, easy to collect the key from key safe.
There were 4 of us in the apartment so we used the sofa bed, it was comfortable but we did have to rearrange furniture to pull the bed out.
The house was modern, new and good size. The kitchen was well equipped- we had everything what we needed. The most, we liked the location - in the middle of the forest - perfect for the skiing holiday and Christmas celebration. The cross country skiing tracks started close to the house; and the Ruka alpine skiing centre was very close as well. Quiet and beautiful place - perfect for winter holiday!
It is unfair for this type of accommodation to be rated on a Booking.com review. Yes, the room is very small. But the whole experience is far beyond a typical hotel. The scenery, the view from the room, the stars, the northern lights, the tranquility. Just magical..
Located quite near Rukatunturi at a very accessible place. The apartment was clean and tidy and check in was really smooth. Apartment has all kinds of amenities available and sauna was nice too. Kitchen has a good amount of tools and utensils available to cook.
Fantastic apartment in a four-apartment cottage, equipped with everything you might need for an enjoyable stay in the Finnish winter wonderland. Close to a skibus stop, 10 minutes on foot from a supermarket and a 30 minute walk away from the Ruka centre.
Location is great! 3 minutes drive from Ruka's center. Kitchen was well equipped, showers were great and so was the fireplace with lots of ready wood in the storage. There's also a smart big screen TV and a big dining table. plenty of space.
Great breakfast in choice and quality.
Original architecture.
Great location on the lake banks in a forest.
Sauna by the lake.
Clothes dryer in the bathroom.
On a short ride to Ruka and supermarkets; well located to national parks.
Nice hotel near the lifts and Ruka Village, take away buffet breakfast was great. Highlight was the sauna and ice swimming place outside. Food from the restaurant was delicious. We had a late check in with great customer service.
Beautiful property in a stunning location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous log cabin in Ruka. It was relatively easy to find, had everything you would need in accommodation. Host was quick to respond.
Cabin was spotless
Everything we needed was available
Sauna was great
Beds comfy
Good location - less than 10 minute drive to Ruka village and 15 to Ruka Valley.
Instructions were clear.
Drying cabinet was great.
I have stayed in Rukan Salonki cottages before and have always liked it. It is best choice for bigger groups because big cottages have 6 bedrooms each and 14 people can fit comfortably
The views from the room ofcourse :-). A very good breakfast. Walking on the walking trail around the property with snowshoes and walking sticks provided by the hotel. Great staff.
Nice location by the lake, 15min to Ruka east slopes.
The place is cozy. The dryer is convenient for drying gloves and ski clothes.
The kitchen is compact but very well equipped.
The villa we booked is spacious and cozy. We love everything. The village itself is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We hope we could stay longer.
Very cosy cabin with wonderful atmosphere. Remote but still to close to Ruka. Comfortable beds. Excellent value for money. Easy communication with the owner.
