Marvelous place for a general visit to the Alsacian area.
Marvelous place for a general visit to the Alsacian area. Plan to visit again. Took trips to little wine (Riquewihr) villages, Ron Champ, and that absurb large castle on the mountain to the north. Missed seeing Basel and Freiburg, a ton of museums, and a ton of old and new architecture.

I loved the fairytale feeling of Colmar.
I loved the fairytale feeling of Colmar. I also love the location. I was able to visit several other fairytale villages in France and then go into Germany and Switzerland as well. The wine is better than I expected also.
Colmar is a walking town. You can walk all around the old town and enjoy the shops. It’s very safe and friendly.

It's like a fairytale city which I always wanted to visit.
It's like a fairytale city which I always wanted to visit. It's so quiet and nice.
For dinner the restaurants are open from 7 pm to 9:30 pm or latest 10 pm.
Prices are a bit too high though. Around 25 euros only for the main dish for a person.
There are not coffee specialty places. Wherever I bought a cappuccino it was not the best, quite average I would say if you are a coffee lover.

Colmar is in a great location for people interested in the wineries of Alsace. We booked a private wine tour and visited several beautiful old villages and three wineries. I highly recommend this activity. We also highly recommend the Unterlinden Museum (the Issenheim Altarpiece is amazing) and the Bartholdi Museum. If you are able to prepare your own meals, the covered market in Colmar is a great place to shop for local foods and produce and it is located near Little Venice, so it's a scenic stroll. We took the bus to see the replica Statue of Liberty and I wouldn't recommend this activity unless you have a car. The statue is situated on an extremely busy roundabout so we were unable to get close to it - I'm really not sure how people on Instagram managed to get their amazing photos. Finally, if you are travelling during Lent, check to see when the Colmar Carnaval is being held. We personally did not enjoy the noise and the crowds, but we weren't expecting it since we didn't know about the Carnaval before travelling.

Colmar is a charming place to visit, with fantastic dining options and wonderful stores, including clothing stores, shoe stores, art and antique shops as well as gourmet shops and grocery stores offering everything one could hope for. It is also convenient to other nearby destinations of interest, making it a good starting point as well as a nice place to come home to in the evening because of its multitude of bars, cafes and dining facilities. If you’re traveling with pets, please be aware the taxi cabs are not user friendly if you have dogs, large or small. We we forced to walked from the train station in rainstorms each way because we couldn’t get a taxi that would help us. And management at the Coton apartment leasing Group, while saying they would call us back when we asked for assistance, simply didn’t. They never called back.

Charming, enchanting city. Very walkable.
Charming, enchanting city. Very walkable. Perfect amenities everywhere...restaurants, pubs, shops, free electric public bus to train station. An absolute must...a step back in time...a fairytale spot.
Everything was amazing! The staff was excellent, the room was modern but comfortable and relaxing, the spa soothing, and the cleanliness -top notch. The staff went above and beyond and exceeded expectations, front desk, bar, and breakfast staff. Everyone was so friendly and hospitable. Our stay in Colmar was amazing, but this hotel in particular made it even more enjoyable. I will recommend L’Esquisse to anyone visiting the region.
Beautiful and charming hotel, absolutely full of character. Right in the heart of "Little Venice" and the start of "Old Town". The hotel is right on the canal, each and every room is beautiful with charming character. One of the oldest hotels in Colmar, which shows in the amount of old world charm the hotel houses. The beautiful wooden beams and architecture with a mix of modern charm.
The room was big, very clean, with all necessary utilities and a comfortable bed. There is a coffee machine in the room and you can also drink tea, plus we had some sweet treats (nice and thoughtful). Delicious breakfast with a different variety to choose. The hotel is near the train station and 10 minutes from Colmar city centre. Helpful and nice staff, always there to help you.
Beautiful setting for the hotel and the perfect place to stay in Colmar. It is a 3 minute walk from the city centre where all the shops, cathédrales, and Colmar destinations are located. The hotel space was very accommodating and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful and had many choices for food. The hours for the hotel were great, also.
The location is wonderful with everything being just a short walk away! The home itself was the most spacious place we stayed at during our 2-week European adventure. Beds were comfortable, A/C felt marvelous (it was hot when we were in France), plenty of room for all of us to move around and all needed amenities were there. What a gem.
The host is one of the best that we’ve had in France. Very helpful, accommodating and friendly. The apartment is ideally situated in central Colmar and having a parking space was incredibly helpful. Also for those looking to buy wine….there is an excellent wine shop across the street.
The rooms are nice and modern, with a clean feel, and very spacious. The beds are big and very comfortable. The staff is lvoely; polite and helpful. The hotel is in a very quiet location, away from the crowds of Colmar's centre, but still a 10 minute walk from it.
The location is just 5 mins away from the central touristic areas on foot (Quite close to Unterlinden museum) Room is not spacious, but spotless, and cozy, especially the AC works so well to cool down the hot temperature of France in the middle of summer.
Hotel is in a walking distance to the city centre. The room was very nicely decorated and clean. Nice touch: there was a choice of teas in the room - unusual for France. Breakfast was very good. I can recommend it.
Breakfast was so lovely. Location is perfect for visiting Colmar. I will definitely choose to stay again in this hotel when I got opportunity to visit Colmar
Location is 10/10 you can walk to everything, everyone is speaking English (first hotel I stayed in France that people spoke English), beds were excellent.
Very clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation and super friendly hosts. Located in a nice quiet area 15 minutes easy walk from the centre of Colmar.
