The house is in an excellent central location where almost all of York's attractions are within 10 minutes' stroll. Housed in a refurbished Victorian rectory dating back to the late 1800s, the property is bursting with colour, bold abstract art, artist designed fabrics and vintage finds. There is a stylish sitting room library with 55 inch smart TV (with Netflix), Nintendo Wii and wood burning stove and a generously equipped kitchen dining room with induction Rangemaster cooker, bean-to-cup coffee machine, dishwasher, large farmhouse style dining table, pantry with washing machine and tumble dryer. All bedrooms are individually designed and have a flat-screen TV with Freeview channels, an iPod docking station, an en-suite bathroom with a bath or shower and eco-friendly luxury toiletries. Outside, guests can enjoy their own beautiful walled garden with comfy seating, dining table, barbecue and outdoor bath as a chemical-free alternative to a hot tub. Easily accessible by car, there is private onsite parking for up to 3 cars (dependent on size).
Sisters Maria and Sophie have many years experience welcoming guests to York and have designed the house with luxury and comfort in mind. Although check in is flexible and contact free via key safe box, your hosts live nearby and are available if needed.
The Shambles, an historic cobbled street with a variety of cafés, bars and restaurants, is less than 5 minutes’ walk away, as is the Castle Museum, Clifford's Tower, Jorvik Viking Centre, the Merchant Adventurer's Hall and the Barbican Events Centre. York Minster, the Grand Opera House, York Theatre Royal and Betty's tearooms and can also be found within easy walking distance and the property is convenient for the University of York. The adjoining streets of Walmgate and Fossgate are packed with places to eat and drink or to stock up with your own supplies, all the main supermarkets are within walking distance, or a quick dash by car, including Waitrose and Sainsburys. York Rail Station is less than 1 mile away (around 20 minutes on foot or a five minute taxi ride).
