Antigua is a beautiful city with so much to do and so much to see! I walked all over the city at all times of the day and night! I never saw any danger or felt any danger! Antigua is very safe, different than Guatemala city! I did not go and I had no interest in going to Guatemala City. Antigua has everything!

Holy Week, the alfombras and the processions, is unforgettable. A must see. Antigua is carefully curated to maintain the traditional facades. Even the Burger King and Starbucks are in old buildings. No big trucks or buses in the town. Wide variety of good restaurants. Many small hotels and hostels. People open up their homes to sell food or give accommodations. Huge crowds in places, mostly Central Americans. Town is quiet. Tons of tourist junk to buy. The town is on a grid system so it is impossible to get lost.

Antigua is a very beautiful colonial city.
Antigua is a very beautiful colonial city. There are many old cathedrals in various conditions. There are two that are easily accessible and you certainly want to take a look inside. The La Mercede is at one end of the main tourist area and the other is at parque central, in the middle of the town. You can also spend a few hours making your own chocolates and learning about the history of chocolate. It jade is of interest, there are tours of jade factories near the square. At he edge of town, about 15 min on foot, sits an organic vegetable farm that has delicious fresh foods. If the textiles are of interest, don't miss a visit to Nim Pot. Here you will find an amazing collection of textiles for sale from all over Guatemala along with wooden and ceramic items, and of course coffee and chocolate. If you want a taste of local shopping, take a short walk to the local market where you can fin everything you would need for daily life and souvenirs all in one place.

We happened to be there during the Lenten celebrations that take place every Sunday 4 weeks before Easter so we were happy to see the procession. The city was very crowded but it was so interesting to observe all that was going on. The city is nice just to spend time in. It is easy to walk around the central areas and there are many options for eating. As well there are many options for day trips from here.

Exquisitely clean.
Exquisitely clean. A great base location for visiting Guatemala. We made side trips to Lake Atitlan, vulcan Pacaya, and Tikal. Some basic electrical maintenance is needed for the lighting and the hot tub.

As a travel blogger, (Girltakesmundo.com shameless plug) who has visited Antigua Guatemala quite often, I like to select different accommodation with every visit. I was obsessed with this hotel! 24 hour desk service and being super responsive to communication via booking.com, I was able to check in past midnight when my arrival time changed due to delays. Aside from that, staff is friendly, decor is beautiful, beds are comfortable and breakfast is included! This is one accommodation I will certainly return too.
Stunning property - the best in Antigua (and I’ve stayed at the top 3 hotels including Porta Hotel Antigua - second best, and Pensativo House Hotel). The hotel has beautiful ruins/museum and every part of it is magical. While my room had an interior courtyard view so was a bit dark - it was very large and extremely comfortable. You must spend some time at their spa, one of the more beautiful spas I’ve been to. The food was good (and had tons of gluten free options including pizza, pasta and bread wow!)
There is no other hotel like this one, built on the mediaeval ruins. The atmosphere and and scenery of the hotel is out of this world. The spa is great with two heating pools and a big swimming pool, plus dry and steam sauna. There are even heater on the roof of the sap so you can be really comfortable even at night. I tried the jade massage and it was really good. The meals at the restaurants are great too. The king bed with spa access is much more confrontable than the standard two queen beds.
The space is absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't look like your standard hotel and I felt like I was in Guatemala. Beautiful interior design and my room was a dream. Patio with fountain, fireplace, rain shower, and the products were divine. I stayed at Porta for the end of the trip with Lago de Atitlán in between, and prefer El Convento. They just didn't have a room available at the end of my trip. Super helpful and friendly staff.
The art all throughout this hotel made it so unique and beautiful! And the rooms are equipped with everything you might need like a hair dryer, a fan, and even little snacks by the bedside. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and I was so impressed that the manager reached out to me right after I booked with help from transportation to tours to simply giving me a friendly welcome to Antigua.
I enjoy my stay , the room was excellent the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about everything. The view from my room was breathtaking. It’s is in an excellent location in Antigua Guatemala. Also don’t forget to ask about the shuttle service. It’s so convenient and safe . It’s much less expensive than taking a taxi. Don’t miss out on the breakfast it is included 😀
Breakfast was Guatemalan-style, which suited me just fine -- I was in Guatemala, after all.
The location is on an important street, but the rooms are set back, so that didn't factor into the stay at all.
It was really easy to walk to places of interest.
The woman at the front desk was very helpful in helping me navigate what I needed in English.
* Quiet, clean, facility * friendly and helpful staff, * amazing views of volcanoes on the roof top patio, * free delicious breakfast, * use of kitchen facilities, * walking distance to downtown, * and very important: host made transportation arrangements from and to GUA airport so we didn't have to worry
This hotel was previously Casa Cristina, which was my go to place when staying in Antigua. It’s in a great location. The friendly staff were helpful in arranging transportation and modifying when needed. The rooftop terrace has a great view and is a nice place to relax.
Rooms very spacious and clean. Hotel is charming. Little pool good for chilling out for a few hours or enjoying the sun. Staff v helpful and polite. Great location only 1 minute from main square. Wonderful view from the terrace outside our room.
Friendly staff, online and in the person. The hotel helped coordinate my transportation to the airport, very convenient. Close to the the centre and quiet at night for a good rest. Also, the breakfast was delicious. Pablo is a great host!
The hotel room was very comfy.
-Bed was huge and the toilet as well.
- Netflix included on plasma TV by connecting your account.
-Near to the centre
-Breakfast was good & cheap
-hot water
-beautiful layout (you can actually disconnect).
The hotel staff were friendly and most helpful. It is a pretty, little hotel, well situated for walking around old Antigua. The pool is very small, not really a swimming pool. Breakfast was varied and good , up on the hotel roof terrace.
This hotel was wonderful place and very close to Central Park of antigua nice beds great breakfast also. If I have to go to Antigua Guatemala again definitely I will stay in hotel vista San Francisco
Vey nice hotel, excellent location, nice pool and atmosphere. The rooms and bathroom were a bit basic compared with other hotels around and the price. Personal was very nice and friendly.
Great staff. Is a beautiful hotel in the middle point of Antigua. They helped us with the transportation from Ciudad de Guatemala with a great cars, lovely drivers and fair prices.
