We loved staying in this town because of the variety of waterfront restaurants and it felt a little less touristy than the other towns. You can easily walk or tuktuk to San Juan and you can easily access a quick boat ride to San Marcos as well.

This town is really just for young backpackers looking to party. You can pop in for a few hours during the day to check it out, but if you don't fit that demographic stay in a different town on the lake.

This place is a riot of colour and full of authentic Guatemalan life. The women in the town were dressed so beautifully, one could just watch them going about their daily lives. The little town is situated right on the lake and there is more than enough to do to keep one busy for a few days. I would highly recommend this place. As a bonus there is a cluster of very good and healthy middle eastern and other restaurants. I would go back for the falafel any day of the week.

When you go to SP it's not just SP.
When you go to SP it's not just SP. Boat rides to towns like San Juan, San Marcus, Panajachel, etc. are right there! Colorful, full of culture, markets, education and experience. SP is a great place to base yourself in; especially if you are Jewish/kosher. It's near chabad, 2 kosher restaurants and the docks to take you to all the other villages/towns.

It should be a five quetzal to get anywhere in the main area of San Pedro in Tuk Tuk. If you go to the El Mirador have the tuk tuk to wait for you or it can be hard getting one back to town. The 5B ATM machines charge large fees so try to get money before you go here. For cheap food go to either of the Tacomexs. A lot of locals wash their clothes in the lake so if you want to swim go to San Marcos.

San Pedro is full of night life and back packers.
San Pedro is full of night life and back packers. It is very safe and it is easy to access most other parts of Lake Atitlan. Be prepared with cash as many places do not accept credit cards, and if they do they add a large fee. My only major criticism is it is so touristy that they do not have much local Guatemalan food!! The food is not great in the city.

We stayed 8 nights at Una Noche con Mical and it was wonderful! Nef and his family are so kind and ready to help whenever needed, especially when my son was unwell and we had transport issues. It is up the hill a bit which is nice to get away from the really touristy area but really close to the markets and anything that you need and you get to see more of the real life of Guatemalans. The rooms are comfortable and the kitchen is fairly well equipped.
The location is really not far from the dock. We realized we didn't need to take a Tuk-Tuk after all. The room was clean and bare with no extras, so it was hard to get comfy and cozy. While there isn't a party culture at this hotel, there is a lot of noise on the streets at night, so you hear all of it, but the hotel really can't do much to control this. The host was very helpful in communicating with the tour guides for me.
The location is a few blocks from the San Pedro La Laguna public launch dock. Each bunk bed has a privacy curtain. The bathrooms are inside each room and clean. The public lounge is on the top floor, including the kitchen, and wash sinks. There is a line to hang some laundry to air dry. The price per bed is reasonable. It's a nice place to connect with world travelers.
Julio was a great host. He was very helpful and took the time to answer all my questions and needs. He is very knowledgeable and showed me the city and its surroundings.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious!
The hotel is outside the busy tourist hub, which is a plus in my book. You get to see a different part of the city and you can talk with local people.
I dont get how this hotel not rated the best. Its 3-5 min walk from the center. This is an AMAZING thing as the center is really really loud. Also allows this place to have a much better view. Honestly the reviews and the picture don't do this place justice. I stayed only 1 night and I should have just booked this place through-out.
The breakfast itself is worth what you pay per night. Stay at Zoola. The lounge is great, the pets are fun, the food amazing, and the vibe is perfect (party if you want, or chill if you'd like). The location is nice too; just a 5 minute stroll to the main tourist street of San Pedro. Staff was friendly.
The location of the hotel was right on the water and the view was nice. Far enough away from the bars in the center of town but still walkable. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
There is a kitchen that isn't really fully equipped but you can make some basic things if you would like to cook.
Quick walk to the touristy shore area of Lake Atitlan yet also a quick walk up the hill to the local market and comedor spots. Very central and quiet. Very clean, staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. Offer shuttles and tours that pick up right from the hotel. Hot water and wifi worked well!
Excellent host. Beautiful view of the lake and mountains from the roof. Bed was better than most in Guatemala. The 2 best restaurants in town ate very close (Smoking Joe's and Tacoyaki). Room is modern and clean. Free laundry service.
We stayed here for 8 days. The hotel is run by a very kind and helpful family.
Very comfortable bedrooms with TV and Netflix.
Small kitchen available for making simple meals.
Great views from the balcony with hammocks.
Safe and secure hotel
Very comfortable beds!
Huge shower
Very clean throughout
Lovely view
Seating and balcony
Quiet location but still very close to the bars and restaurants
Location was great, nice little spot to swim just at the base at the hotel with a path, staff was fine, balcony if you were great, hammock was nice addition.
