We loved staying in this town because of the variety of waterfront restaurants and it felt a little less touristy than the other towns. You can easily walk or tuktuk to San Juan and you can easily access a quick boat ride to San Marcos as well.

This town is really just for young backpackers looking to party. You can pop in for a few hours during the day to check it out, but if you don't fit that demographic stay in a different town on the lake.

This place is a riot of colour and full of authentic Guatemalan life. The women in the town were dressed so beautifully, one could just watch them going about their daily lives. The little town is situated right on the lake and there is more than enough to do to keep one busy for a few days. I would highly recommend this place. As a bonus there is a cluster of very good and healthy middle eastern and other restaurants. I would go back for the falafel any day of the week.

When you go to SP it's not just SP.
When you go to SP it's not just SP. Boat rides to towns like San Juan, San Marcus, Panajachel, etc. are right there! Colorful, full of culture, markets, education and experience. SP is a great place to base yourself in; especially if you are Jewish/kosher. It's near chabad, 2 kosher restaurants and the docks to take you to all the other villages/towns.

It should be a five quetzal to get anywhere in the main area of San Pedro in Tuk Tuk. If you go to the El Mirador have the tuk tuk to wait for you or it can be hard getting one back to town. The 5B ATM machines charge large fees so try to get money before you go here. For cheap food go to either of the Tacomexs. A lot of locals wash their clothes in the lake so if you want to swim go to San Marcos.

San Pedro is full of night life and back packers.
San Pedro is full of night life and back packers. It is very safe and it is easy to access most other parts of Lake Atitlan. Be prepared with cash as many places do not accept credit cards, and if they do they add a large fee. My only major criticism is it is so touristy that they do not have much local Guatemalan food!! The food is not great in the city.

Casa Llemo is a great value for money in San Pedro. I stayed for an extra night because I liked my stay (which felt like a home stay) and the companionship of the wonderful host Julio and his family, Vilma and little Llemo.
Although the hotel is not in the tourist center, it is close to the public market, the stores and even the coast. I prefer it to be this way since it felt closer to the locals and it is far from the noise and bustling center with tourists.
I like the facilities, which include a communal kitchen.
Will recommend!
Best hostel you're looking for a fun and social place to stay on Lake Atitlan. The location is unbeatable - right in the center of town. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, fun events every night with plenty of opportunities to meet other travelers.
The staff are friendly and helpful, always happy to offer tips and advice on things to do in the area. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Overall, I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a fun and social place to stay on Lake Atitlan. Just be prepared to party!
Check-in was super easy and the manager/owner was wonderful. He was from Ecuador and runs the hotel with his family. They are fairly new and are building up their offerings, the view of the lake is wonderful and it is a nice bit away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. You can grab a tuktuk for about 10-20Q and/or walk 20-15 minutes to get to downtown.
Quick walk to the touristy shore area of Lake Atitlan yet also a quick walk up the hill to the local market and comedor spots. Very central and quiet. Very clean, staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. Offer shuttles and tours that pick up right from the hotel. Hot water and wifi worked well!
This an excellent place to stay on the other end of the main street away from the party hostels. However, you are just a 5-minute walk if you want to check out the main social scene. The family who owns and runs this place were excellent hosts. I will stay here again if I return.
one of the cleanest hotels I have experienced in Guatemala ... nice staff, great view from the balcony and with a hammock, good wifi connection, comfortable bed, great location in the city center and close to the marina, excellent quality for cheap price, I highly recommend!
About 8 minutes away from center. Quiet location on shore of the lake. The hotel bills itself as a non-party hostel and lives up to that reputation. We stayed in room 13 which had simple accommodations, but it was quite sufficient. Also has kitchen available to guests.
This place was perfect! Definitely the best budget hotel we stayed in in Guatemala. Clean, modern room and the bathroom has a good shower. Very reasonable price. Nice and close to the centre of San Pedro but still quiet. Highly Recommend
View of Lake Atitlan. Clean and great communication with host via WhatsApp.
Host ( Miguel) allowed us to stay around past our check out time. Location accessible to restaurants for 5Quetzales via Tuk tuk.
The owners were really lovely and kind and wanted to give us anything we needed. The facilities are ok albeit a little bit basic. The breakfast was delicious, the best we had in Guatemala.
The hotel was great, the rooms were very big. The hotel is fairly close to the lake through some narrow streets. We did a sunrise tour and leaving and coming back was no problem at all.
