COBAN is a very beautiful town and there is an Ancient Cathedral in front of the Central Park. There's a local market where you can find handwoven typical clothing and other handcrafted products made by the natives. There are good restaurants also, like HDR (Hacienda Don Rafa), El PE-NASCAL, where you can order dishes of Mayan origins, like KACK-IK for example. There are places of extreme beauty near Coban with plenty of very low price transportation. You can visit the Central Market located only 6 minutes on the outskirts of Coban. SO, TREAT YOURSELF BY VISITING COBAN!!!

This is a great jumping off point for all of the department's offerings. We opted to stay close in town since it was a bit rainy and driving in Guatemala can be long and weary. We visited Las Victorias National Park and the Orchid conservation gardens. We loved both even in the rain. Easy to get around by foot or by car. People here are very friendly and hospitable, plenty of dining options in every price range, even found a treasure of a coffee shop La Estacion. We loved our stay and can't wait to return!

Coban as a town itself doesn't have anything particular to offer. It's a small, dirty town with no entertainment, nothing really worth visiting and besides about three places, no good dining options. If you're traveling to other places in Alta Verapaz, skip Coban entirely, you won't miss out on anything.
the staff were excellent. super friendly, incredibly helpful with information including telling us where to go to see a Quetzal! Luis tried some English with us, and everyone was very patient with our mediocre Spanish. the hotel is under construction now, but it wasn’t bothersome. it’s already very nice and I think it’ll become a must visit hostel once they finish putting it together. the breakfast was some of the best I’ve had.
A tranquil space in Coban. The courtyard garden and pergola was the perfect retreat for a few days. Hot showers, hooks and shelves to unpack a bit and a comfortable bed. The team was very friendly & helped me navigate the local bus to Biotopo Quetzal & Lanquin. Delicious local food and home baked cookies completed the family feel you get from Chapultepec.
The location is an easy walk to the Parque Central of Cobán. Interior of the hotel is very nice, built in a colonial Spanish villa style with an interior, well cared for, garden. Rooms are somewhat small, but nicely appointed. Hotel has it's own secure parking (a great plus anywhere in Guatemala, and particularly in Cobán)
Jaime is a wonderful host who made me feel at home. The hostel is in the suburbs of Coban and gives you the opportunity to see how guatemalian people live. The coffee tour on walking distance is definitely worth a visit. Perfect stop when going to Semuc Chempey!
great value accomodation
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The check-in process was easy and the rooms were basic but comfortable. The common areas were beautiful and we enjoyed our breakfast as well. They were able to provide fans for some white noise. Very quite location and free parking was close.
The hostel is nice and clean, with sitting areas indoors and in a small covered garden. There is a large shared kitchen with a gas hob and breakfast is included. It is in a fairly quiet street within walking distance of the market and about 20 mins to the national park.
Excellent service. Personnel was very friendly and helpful. Location is beautiful and quiet for resting. Limited choices for food but very delicious. Tasty Guatemalan breakfasts. Hot water. Clean sheets and towels
super clean and comfortable hotel, its nice you can cancel for free and no need to pay ahead. hotel staff is really nice and the showers are hot. really can’t go wrong here, solid choice for an overnight stay!
Is very convenient hotel to stay and for moving around, staff very very friendly, helpful, kind, the breakfast is amazing and tasty room was cosy and bathroom very big
