Was a treat to spend the few days here.
Was a treat to spend the few days here. The hotel fit my needs wonderfully. Great, authentic town where one can see how the people really live. I didn't spend much time googling about the area. There was probably much more to do than I did but don't miss out on a tour of the mangroves. Great nighttime (before dawn) sky and super birdwatching as well. Just give the seller time to bring his price down. Mine was first quoted at 200Q and settled at 75Q. While there the weather was hot and very humid.

We drove from Guatemala City and found the drive not difficult and very interesting. Lots of great little villages and people watching along the road as well as farms, and other interesting sites. For travelers, wanting to try this drive -feel comfortable- there are lots of stops along the way at gas stations for drinks and restrooms, so no worries there. The roads were in good condition but keep your eye out for speed bumps in unusual places. I have rarely been in a place with as good of roadside facilities as Guatemala. We were traveling in late June and it was quite hot so grateful to have air conditioning in our hotel room as a plus.

Relaxed. Pleasant. Low key and just what we wanted.
Relaxed. Pleasant. Low key and just what we wanted. The waves can be pretty strong and probably dangerous to swill in. The locals all seemed to enjoy sitting in the shallows and letting the surf wash over them.

Interesting place to get a vibe of where poeple from Guatemala go on vacation on the pacific coast . Not many international tourists . Not much to do there but with a good hôtel with a swimming pool, it is a nice place to relax and enjoy hot weather. During the rainy season, mosquitos are part of the combo. We rented a car to get there. We felt pretty safe.

Monterrico was a great little beach town.
Monterrico was a great little beach town. Plenty of restaurants if you want to get out of the hotels and amazing beaches. Much less crowds than port San Jose. There’s also the amazing mangrove nature preserve if you want a relaxing boat ride.

Monterrico is incredibly beautiful.
Monterrico is incredibly beautiful. We ate several places and all were very good -- good food for a fair price. The beach is absolutely gorgeous! We booked a tour of the mangroves in the Reserva Natural with EDGAR CONTRERAS as our Guide! This was the highlight of the trip! We had a great time with this intelligent, hard-working, reliable and fun guide who showed us a beautiful part of Guatemala. Highly recommend getting in touch with Edgar when you are in Monterrico. Next visit I am going fishing with Edgar! I can't wait! My friend says she want to go, too.
Great hotel with lush very beautiful garden. Clean fresh swimming pool and you see how they are taking care of the garden and pool. Family hotel with amazing hosts, they can help you with anything, starting with an excursion to the river to meet the sunrise and finishing with resolving stomach problems.
Highly recommend it, we truly enjoyed our stay there.
The room is a little bungalow, beautifully built. Each bungalow has its own little terrasse. The hotel is a bit further from the other hotels and it makes it very quiet. The hotel has a direct access to the beach. We could hear the ocean all night. Room is big. Staff is nice and smiley. There are two pools, both super clean.
Great room with being on the beach. With 3 dogs, the staff was amazing and very helpfull. Amazing concept of lesser plastic bottles, buy 1 bottle and keep refill at no additional cost, food was amazing, breakfast, lunch and dinner, meat, fish, nachos, etc. Very clean pools, and it was with sweet water and not salty.
The best hotel option in El Hawaii. Great pools and friendly staff. Pet friendly, which is a huge plus.
The beach is manageable, unlike the dangerous Monterrico Beach a few kilometers up the road. Lots of activities (kayaking, surfing, horseback rides, atv rides, etc).
Returning to this hotel for second time now, it did not disappoint! All facilities were great, amazing plus: the massages, super relaxing to have this with the sound of the sea in the background! Jose Alfredo is a GEM, true example of Guatemalan hospitality!
The staff were incredible! Nice, helpful, professional. The pools and beach are fantastic. Easy to order food from the freshly prepared menu to the pool or beach. The location is central to everything. The people here are the among the best in any hotel.
The staff (all) made you feel like family. very good attention to client details. The location could not get any better. the restaurant and hang out area was right on the beach. speaking of the restaurant, the food was amazing.
Relaxing hotel with bar and restaurant on the beach, communal showers but very clean, complimentary coffee for breakfast, secure parking for motorcycles separate from car parking, mosquito nets over the beds
There are very clear swimming pools and good maintenance facilities with great food and service. The Beaches are fantastic with spectacular views for the sunrise and sunset and great weather 😀
Not much! It’s close to the beach so that was a plus.
They did allow late check out for a few which I appreciate.
The place has the location and potential to be really nice.
The beachfront is an amazing and incomparable quality. The staff and owners are very good hosts. Everyone is friendly and come out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Big room with own bathroom. There were two pools at the property so you never felt crowded. The hotel was absolute beachfront and a short walk to the town.
