Holy Week, the alfombras and the processions, is unforgettable. A must see. Antigua is carefully curated to maintain the traditional facades. Even the Burger King and Starbucks are in old buildings. No big trucks or buses in the town. Wide variety of good restaurants. Many small hotels and hostels. People open up their homes to sell food or give accommodations. Huge crowds in places, mostly Central Americans. Town is quiet. Tons of tourist junk to buy. The town is on a grid system so it is impossible to get lost.

Antigua is a very beautiful colonial city.

Antigua is a very beautiful colonial city. There are many old cathedrals in various conditions. There are two that are easily accessible and you certainly want to take a look inside. The La Mercede is at one end of the main tourist area and the other is at parque central, in the middle of the town. You can also spend a few hours making your own chocolates and learning about the history of chocolate. It jade is of interest, there are tours of jade factories near the square. At he edge of town, about 15 min on foot, sits an organic vegetable farm that has delicious fresh foods. If the textiles are of interest, don't miss a visit to Nim Pot. Here you will find an amazing collection of textiles for sale from all over Guatemala along with wooden and ceramic items, and of course coffee and chocolate. If you want a taste of local shopping, take a short walk to the local market where you can fin everything you would need for daily life and souvenirs all in one place.

We happened to be there during the Lenten celebrations that take place every Sunday 4 weeks before Easter so we were happy to see the procession. The city was very crowded but it was so interesting to observe all that was going on. The city is nice just to spend time in. It is easy to walk around the central areas and there are many options for eating. As well there are many options for day trips from here.

Exquisitely clean. A great base location for visiting Guatemala. We made side trips to Lake Atitlan, vulcan Pacaya, and Tikal. Some basic electrical maintenance is needed for the lighting and the hot tub.

    What a beautiful town !

What a beautiful town ! Lots of restaurants, cafes, places to visit. Very walkable and be ready to take a lots of pictures. Lots of ATM and banks to get local currency. Banks exchange currency at a very good rate. Lots of tours options available, like visiting lake Atitlan, hiking volcanos, riding a motorcycle or visiting other towns. You’ll need more than two weeks if you come to Antigua.

Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala. It is famous for its Spanish colonial buildings, many of them restored after the 1773 earthquake that ended Antigua's 200-year rule as the colonial capital of Guatemala. Some notable examples of the architecture include La Merced, a low yellow and white church in the Baroque style. It is an integral part of the famous Holy Week in the city, with parades and rituals

I really enjoyed my stay here. Location was good, just a few minutes walk to the center of everything. The staff here were EXCELLENT. My arrival flight was so severely delayed and had to cancel a pre-booked taxi. They were able to arrange last minute pick up and transportation to the hotel. They helped with translations, recommendations, booking shuttles to and from the next towns, basically anything I needed. Wifi worked well and I enjoyed breakfasts in the morning. I would absolutely stay here again.

Loved this hotel! It was comfortable, clean & quiet, which are really the 3 most important things you want in a room! The owner was so helpful and friendly. He went above and beyond. I definitely would stay here again next time I'm in Antigua and would recommend it to everyone. Also has a really nice outdoor garden to hang out in, filtered water is always available and a fridge if you have any food you want to leave in there. I loved how art decorated it is, it's a beautiful hotel in a great location.

There is nothing like Hotel Casa Santo Domingo. The service, the amenities, the history, the increible vibes (everything smells like eukalyptus, the walls are 16th century ruines, the furniture is divine, everywhere you look there’s art lke youve never seen, they play with depth and nature and classic architecture). The place is DIVINE, youre not gonna believe you are there when you enter. Its a 10 star resort for $200-300 a night which is really nothing

Great cozy feeling of the entire property. The ambience was in keeping with the architecture and charm of Antigua, a wonderful example of Spanish colonial architecture. The staff of the hotel was extremely helpful and attentive to my requests. Administrator of the hotel went out of his way to find me transportation back to Guatemala City and inquiry from other business the availability of a particular item I needed.

The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and approachable. The rooms were well designed, with a great warm shower that you need after a long day of traveling - and the bed was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is a must-have at Ojala! They had two great options that we got to share. One other important perk is their garden and patio - all you plant lovers can spend a long time just examining their plants.

We loved everything. Great location, staff and decor. Most importantly however is knowing that all money goes to their NGO supporting local kids to get an education. A one night stay supports a child's education for one week. The story behind this hotel is admirable and I hope they can expand beyond the current three hotels, 2 in Guatemala and 1 in London

Breakfast was Guatemalan-style, which suited me just fine -- I was in Guatemala, after all. The location is on an important street, but the rooms are set back, so that didn't factor into the stay at all. It was really easy to walk to places of interest. The woman at the front desk was very helpful in helping me navigate what I needed in English.
