This is home for us so I cannot give an unbiased review.
This is home for us so I cannot give an unbiased review. Definitely a need for improvement in cleanliness especially in open air markets. Private businesses are improving efficiency, government facilities need to step up especially in anticipation of increasing client/opportunities. People are still friendly mostly. Rental cars available if you have the courage to drive.

My last visit to GT was in 1984.
My last visit to GT was in 1984. So far I love it & what i have seen lots of improvement. The streets are so conjested with cars, some traffic lights on the streets would be nice. The van drivers are driving too fast on the road this is the so many people lives are loss. I was very disappointed to see such a mess at the Sea Walls with the garbage, they need to have garbage containers along there, employ people to clean up the mess instead of leaving it there, it takes away the beauty of our beautiful Guyana.

I like the variety of foods available until late evening. Good shopping for local arts and craft. The traffic is hectic during the day with congestion. It is better to sight see in the afternoon when it is cooler.

Georgetown is a beautiful and colourfull city, you have to have in mind always that the security level is pretty low, so be aware and take care. If you can travel in groups and don't go out at night alone. The people, in general, are nice and forthcoming, but sadly enough for most very poor. Don't flash any items of value. If you get into a taxi my best advice is to hang on and buckle up - that traffic is indeed entertaining if you like rollercoasters and such.

A shabby, run down place of open, stinking drains and the constant need to watch who's approaching you or coming up from behind.
Locals are very friendly and helpful and are often most upset that a minority of meth heads etc have damaged the country's reputation.
Beautiful hotel with beautiful friendly staff from the gate guard, to front desk, to breakfast staff!! The decor is classy elegant, and hotel is clean. Very professionally managed!! There is a large covered patio with bars for parties and meetings.
The breakfast (included) with cultural foods is exquisite each day!! The hotel is brilliantly located walking distance to downtown Georgetown if you enjoy daytime hikes, museums and shopping. We look forward to staying at the El Dorado again when we return to Guyana!!❤️🇬🇾
Perfect Boutique / Heritage Hotel. I would recommend CARA Lodge with 100%. Location is perfect; I could walk to all sights from the hotel. In case you need a taxi its easy to order at the reception. You just need taxi in case you need to go airport or nighttime (highly recommended not to walk in Georgetown by night). I loves this place an dwill be back in this Hotel in case I visit Georgetown again. Restaurant in Hotel offers great trinidad food, I loved the curry (and the beer :-) )
1. Friendly staff offered exceptional service
2. It's location is walking distance from shopping on Regent Street and other attractions in the city. A taxi service was also available 50m away. The Guinness Restaurant & Bar next door served sumptuous lunches and played great Caribbean music which you can hear from your hotel room.
3. The breakfast was very tasty and delivered to your room in take away containers. I especially loved the fry bakes. The quality was exceptional.
This place is the worst place I have ever stayed, the room was flooded, I wake up and stepped into water, all the rooms on the ground floor was, the manager was no help at all, it rained all night the next day the place was flooded, very poor drainage, you have rain water mix with surage water, I checked out that same day, went to a better hotel, people I would strongly discourage any to not go there, it's a dump.
My stay at the Durban hotel did not feel like I was at a hotel. It felt like home, the entire Hotel was very quiet, even though it had staff moving around & I got the best sleep of my life. I liked the timed a/c , it blew on & off, so the room wasn't too cold. I also liked the staff very much. They were very helpful and Mr Adams the owner was a great host. I would definitely recommend this place.
The professionalism of the staff displayed at all times. Also the hotel was very clean and its location was convenient for my business propose. Additionally the staff was very courteous and I felt very safe. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very helpful on-site operator, who was trying to real hard to solve problems and help me get to know Georgetown. Very hospitable and friendly guy who went above and beyond. Comfortable bed and very good AC in the bedroom.
Very good hotel, the staff is very attentive; they are very attentive to solve any inconvenience, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was very good also.
The staff at hotel restaurant were not courteous. Extremely bad customer service. They made you feel like they were doing you a favor attending to you.
