Like: super close to everything.
Disliked: Building is beautiful, rooms were not what we expected - towels were old and with holes, bed were old and very noise. comforters were broken and with holes, pillows were super thin and old. No fridge. Rooms are not as shown in the pic posted. And of course elevator wasn't working. We were in the 3rd floor. There is NOT American breakfast, just a menu of three different options. Unbelievably, reception is closed from 10 pm to 6 am. So, if something happens you can contact no-one. Staff is friendly.

If you are not diving a lot, or going snorkeling a lot on boat trips, skip Roatan entirely. I can't see why you would want to go there for beach time given the cost and nothing really unique about it other than maybe it is mostly calm, and there is very little else to do on the island. If you really want to go, West End is a better option than West Bay as there are more shops and restaurants and such. But the beach there, what there is of it, is nowhere near as good. If you decide to rent a car, be prepared for driving crazyness everywhere. And BEWARE the sand fleas/flies. Also know that you are not supposed to flush ANY toilet paper - it goes into a can next to the toilet. Ugh. Grand Cayman and Aruba are WAY better for an all around island vacation.

West Bay is a perfect place to go with family, friends, or for a romantic getaway. Easy trailing, loads of food options, great reasonably priced accommodations right at the beach, incredible snorkeling just feet offshore, diving and other adventures. So wonderful. The reef has deteriorated quite a bit since we were first there in 2007, but there is still stunning marine life to see while snorkeling or scuba diving. Highly recommend for all ages.

West bay is absolutely beautiful!
West bay is absolutely beautiful! The view is stunning and all the food options are great! The beaches are beautiful. The only thing I will say is the amount of vendors on the beach selling things, and we were there for 5 hours and were asked to get braids, tees, bracelets, etc. at least 10 times

It was a fantastic vacation.
It was a fantastic vacation. The Argentian Grill is a must go to in West Bay!! Before leaving the States, go to your bank and get plenty of ones, fives, and ten-dollar bills. They don't have change for twenty-dollar bills.
Last item, watch out for the ladies running the beach offering massages.

The West Bay Area is awesome.
The West Bay Area is awesome. They have nice resorts, restaurants, and beaches. The people are friendly and most speak English. They do have a lot of locals selling their goods on the beach but you just have to say no and they leave you alone. I would visit this area again but would never stay at Bananarama again. Our family had 6 rooms and they were all shabby. The staff is excellent. They just have nothing to work with as far as the rooms go.
The food and drinks at the restaurant were delicious and the best on the island! Van the bartender was friendly, helpful and met our every need. The staff at the front desk were welcoming and helpful. The resort was clean and spacious. I loved the private beach front and the pool was beautiful. The Penthouse condo that we stayed in was roomy, comfortable, clean and had an incredible view. I would recommend this resort to anyone considering coming to Roatan! Just perfect for my family of 5 but could have accommodated more people too.
Lovely place , walking distance to the beach.
Hotel itself was very good, Jennifer who runs the place is excellent and extremely professional, she is a credit to the hotel. Her breakfast was lovely and different on each of the 3 days of our stay.
Great cleanliness, good WiFi. Fridge and safe in room.
Supermarket in front rents scooters and are honest and genuine.
Great location on the white sandy beach with aqua blue waters and reefs with lots of colorful fish for snorkeling lovers. Beach is long enough for walks and restaurants along the shoreline. It was very convenient to have the breakfast included since no grocery stores nearby. Lot of water activity options through hotel or along the shore through different vendors.
I’ve stayed at four places in Roatan now and Placita was my second favourite. It has an excellent location close to the beach, staff were helpful, pool was good and breakfast was good. Room was beautiful, spacious and clean. TV was huge with Netflix. Good Wifi.
The staff at Blue Roatan was amazing! They went out of their way to make sure. we had everything we needed. We were. able to use snorkeling gear and kayaks during our stay. The grounds were beautiful with amazing sunset views.
The location is perfect, just steps around the corner from the bustle of West Bay's main beach, it feels secluded and quiet, with a lovely little pocket beach to itself and magnificent views from the restaurant/deck.
The location of the hotel is beautiful, next to a private beach, but also near West Bay with restaurants and other facilities. The cottages were clean and cosy and we'll placed in a lush green garden.
