Unfortunatly the roads are worse and worse in Hungary. Gyula it’s beatiful, in the autumn you can make great photos. I’ve found very neat and cozy restsurants such as Varkonyi bistro, was always full with guests, the food was very tasty, serving 1st class. They have a cookie shop named The 100 years old cookie shop, but was under renovation who knows till when, that was bit sad, I always visit it.

Visited Gyula Aquapark for 2 days. I can say that it was nice but seems like they try to charge you for everything: * 1.5 EUR/person city tax; * parking near Aquapark about 8 EUR/day Monday-Sunday. Food & drinks pricy compared to similar Aquaparks (Szeget, Mako, Timisoara). Long waiting time at restaurant queue (restaurants with no waiters or waitresses). Very crowdy at the hot thermal water pools.

A great small town with fantastic spa and the second oldest cukraszda in Hungary but first in taste to money ratio. Dobos torta and Chokolate Mousse is a must. But not together please... Gyulai famous kolbasz and Bekes palinka finish it all. Enjoy! Last but not least the castle and the small picturesque streets close to Varfuerdo. The room was exactly like in the pictures, clean, warm and quiet. You have everything you need during your stay, including bathrobes and amenities. There is a small spa at the 1st floor, breakfast was delicious (not very varied though, same thing every day but it's fine for a couple of days). We will definitely come back!CristinaRomania
