Its a mind blowing experience. One must see the Golden Temple in the life time. Superb to see at night. Bagha border pared, Jalianwala bagh are inspiring, proud moments. The local market and restaurants around temple ate good.

Please people be careful when visiting Golden Temple. I was standing in que to go inside ..the que was 3 hour wait! But worst experience was that we got pushed from behind forcefully! The city is filled with tricksters everywhere. Right from auto guys to shopkeepers, everyone will cheat you if you are not careful. Bargain well for everything ! Don't miss the 700 yrs old durgiana temple which is a smaller replica of the Golden temple ! Malls are far away and the main area around the Golden temple is chaotic, dusty and ancient !

Amritsar is a significant place in the history of India and I was very pleased to finally visit there and visit the Golden Temple, Jallianwallah Bagh and the Partition Museum to gain an understanding of the complex history of the time around Independence. As a foreigner born in one of the 'colonies' understanding history is important for locating ourselves in chains of events that impact later generations. I am deeply moved by the tragedy of the Partition and the untold and unimaginable loss. It is important that we acknowledge the past as it shapes our ability to move forward.

Only thing missing in breakfast was waffles and pancakes if they had those they would have totally met breakfast of a 5 star. Location of hotel was amazing, it takes 10-15 min by walking to reach golden temple. If you want you can take rickshaw auto also. We had booked a suite with bathtub, room was quite spacious and had all the necessary facilities. Staff was super supportive and helpful.
