Keflavik is easily overlooked by many whom just go straight to the capital but honestly its such a nice little town, there's enough to see and do to last a decent amount of time and in comparison at least for me was more fun to explore than the capital!

Did not travel to Keflavik, we were there at the airport for a stopover. Thought we could tour a little as we had 10 hours but the cost of the bus fare and taxi was very expensive and for a family of four we decided to stay put. The flights are cheap but everything else, if you are on a budget prepare yourself to spend a lot of money on food and transportation. Very clean place, their tap water is amazing, air is clean. Would love to go back to explore but will have to save a lot to be able to fully enjoy Iceland.

Good location near the airport.
Good location near the airport. We moved here the day before our early morning flight. The friendly lady in reception stored our bags and called a taxi to bring us to Blue Lagoon. We learned that the hotel had a special deal with taxis so we booked the same taxi to bring us back, which gave us a bit of a discount. We took their free airport shuttle very early the next morning. The driver who was also in charge of reception was nice and friendly too.

Don't arrive after 2200hrs.
Don't arrive after 2200hrs. You won't get the room you've paid for. Don't rely on information from staff. They give you inaccurate advice re buses etc. The hotel is a 55km bus ride from Reykjavik - a once hourly service - or a $200 taxi ride each way. There is not even a vending machine to buy a softdrink, crisps etc. This place is an expensive bed and a shower and a 6km (aka AUD$59) taxi ride from the airport. Dont waste your money!

After being dropped off at the airport, I realized I had left my purse in the van. I was able to call the owner and he quickly and generously drove back to the airport to give me my purse. Phew! What an angel! And he didn’t even charge me for the inconvenience of driving back! Super short ride to the airport!

It's a lovely place. Must visit.
It's a lovely place. Must visit. If you have kids under 8 then you might not be able to go to a lot of adventures tours. Food is expensive. Rain is a Scandinavian restaurant where one must go if visiting Iceland.
The room was super clean and very spacious and airy. The bathroom had a great shower, which was really appreciated after staying in a camper van for 2 weeks! The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant served delicious food and the complimentary breakfast was wonderful, with many options to meet everyone's tastes. It was the perfect 1 night stay to re-group and get ready for the flight home the next day. It is an easy 5 minute walk across the parking lot to the airport! So convenient! I DEFINITELY recommend this hotel!
We got a room in the Hotel vis a vis - free upgrade. It was more comfortable since breakfast and restaurant was in the hotel.
We had to check out very early (4:00 AM) and we found the breakfast already available. And what a breakfast!!!! There was everything that you could imagine. They told us that it starts at 4:00AM, but around 3:30AM you can already found some coffe and croissants.
It is very close to the car rental Go Iceland/ACE where we had to drop the car. Also near to the airport if you have to go directly there.
Spent our final night in Iceland here, as we had an early flight, and it was right next to the airport. Check in was a bit tricky as there was a power cut, but we negotiated this successfully. Room was just what we needed, big enough, and with a decent shower etc. We ate dinner at the restaurant in the evening, and that was good quality food. We also had breakfast the following morning, which was standard buffet fare. Pretty standard airport hotel with no real frills, but walking distance from the airport and decent food.
Very nice property overlooking the small marina of Keflavik. It is ideal to stay here if you have an early-morning flight from Keflavik Airport, as it is located only about a 10-minute drive from the airport. The rooms are very comfy, clean and beautifully designed. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful and the hotel offers a shuttle service to the airport as well as a small take-away breakfast if you need to leave very early for your flight. We highly recommend Hotel Berg.
Ideal for the airport, they run a regular shuttle service from 4.00 am I think. Nice room, simple facilities, tea coffee breakfast items are self serve from 3.00 am, friendly people. It was clean warm and easy to find and park. It seems popular with Icelanders on early flights not just tourists which I took to be a good sign. It was an easy 10m minute walk to town (Keflavik) for restaurants. Suited me fine for an early flight.
Comfortable, modern room, well decorated with all the ameneties you would expect. Staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. A perfect stay close to the airport with plenty of nearby free parking. Breakfast offering was great with plenty to choose from and they even do Gluten Free bread upon request.
Restaurant was great, good meals and nice staff - just what we needed after our flight.
I would 100% stay here again.
We liked the convenience of being near the Keflavik airport. We liked that the B&B provided one-way service either to or from the airport. We liked the staff that checked us in, and the driver who drove us to the airport. The shuttle to the airport was on time with what we requested. We didn't use the breakfast provided as we had such an early departure for the airport, but the provisions looked adequate.
Very nice little hotel. Staff is the best! They were so friendly and helpful, were able to accommodate my check-in early, offered to grab a few items from the breakfast buffet while I had to wait for test results in my room, and offered tips for onward travel. Everything I needed and more. Also, the restaurant is great - I had dinner there and it was one of the best meals of my trip.
Keflavik is a sleepy fishing port 6km from the main airport. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the airport. The room was nice and modern. The main restaurant, in the form of a library theme, served delicious meals. Breakfast offered a wide choice of hot and cold food. Service was friendly and helpful. We felt welcomed.
Very close to Keflavik international airport, very friendly receptionist and shuttle bus driver. The large room. It is ok to stay if you need to catch a flight in the morning. The hotel is located in what used to be old Air-force barracks, so the rooms are rather large.
No breakfast.
The shuttle to the airport was very quick and on time/early -- very appreciated. I wish the host had made us aware beforehand that allowing 2 hours before a flight is not adequate at Keflavik.
The late-night check in procedure was clear and easy.
Perfect for airport and early morning flight, our room overlooked the harbour and had a small balcony. the restaurant in the hotel was lovely and food was very very good. reasonable breakfast also included and courtesy bus to the airport. Great for our needs.
If you need to stay close to Keflavik Airport (KEF) for next day flight, I recommend this hotel. The free airport transport are available during morning time which was really great. Restaurants and supermarkets are located in the areas of walking distance.
Location to Airport is great just a 20 minute drive. The hotel is well maintained with attractive rooms and common spaces. Breakfast is great and begins at 4 a.m. for early morning guest departures and there is a free shuttle to the airport.
The location of this hotel is convenient for people wanting to stay close to the airport. There were lots of restaurants nearby and a grocery store was a few minutes away. Breakfast of fruit, granola bars, yogurt and juice were provided.
Great location, 6km from the airport. Short drive the following day to the Blue Lagoon. Excellent evening meal in hotel restaurant - one of the best we had in our 2 weeks in Iceland. Excellent breakfast included.
The hotel is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. There is plenty of free parking and the breakfast was excellent. The location the Keflavik airport is less than 10 minutes drive time.
Hotel Grásteinn is a quaint hotel close to the international airport. The rooms were small and well arranged, and they offer a generous cold breakfast buffet 4am - 10am every morning.
Hotel Jazz was great! Our first time staying in a self service hotel. Located in a nice neighborhood close to the airport. Room was clean, large bathroom. Nice breakfast included.
