Catania is a nice city . The market, the food, the Monasterio Benedictino. We wanted to go to the beach so we asked how were the beaches near the hotel and got recomendations for the public beach you can acced with the local bus. It was not a god experience, very dirty, ruined, and bus took ages to arrive

Catania history center was quite shocking.
Catania history center was quite shocking. Dirty, garbage on the streets, nobody cleans after the dogs, abandoned buildings, impressive old palaces uncured, decaying, facades ruined...
However, the easygoing way gets under your skin in just a day or two. Lot of small eateries and bars where you can enjoy your food, coffee or drink and kind citizens, always ready to answer any question a tourist could have, beat the flaws.
Palaces and city structure with long wide streets show the splendour this city had in the past. Pitty it doesn't apply for the present. It has so much potantial, and not only for tourism.

The city of Catania is an exceptionally dirty city, where the strong influence of past poverty is strongly felt. It's one of the uglier cities we've visited in Sicily, but it's definitely worth seeing and experiencing.

Catania is nice for a couple of days.
Catania is nice for a couple of days. You feel unsafe when you walk far from via Etnea. The main street is fantastic, the food is not expensive. A lot of churches to visit. If you can, visit Taormina and Cefalu. Magnificent places for one day tour.

Exploring the main sightseeings of Catania could be done within a day. If a tourist is more detailed and interested in spending time in museums, then they could easily do it in 2 days. Catania is a good accommodation base from where tourists can organize visits to other sightseeings in Sicily.
Driving in Sicily (especially in Palermo and Catania) could be quite challenging for people not used to driving in an environment where there are rules which are not very much obeyed by the drivers.

This hotel did exactly what we needed it to: It allowed us a place to rest overnight in quiet after a very very long travel day! The staff was as nice as they could be, coming to pick us up from the airport (which is very closeby) after multiple flight delays. It was clean and quiet and great for a flight layover. Note: It was as advertised, that is, it is very basic, so don't expect a luxury resort! But if you need a clean place to sleep near the airport, it fills the bill.
We stayed here twice: before and after a week of sailing. Hotel has easy, 20 min access to the AirPort, 10 min by taxi to plazza del d’uomo. It has a pool, is clean, has working AC, very good and varous breafast, staff speaks english! All the above is not obvious in Sycylia, and in Catania center. What else, which is not common at All, you Can have lunch. Free bar in the room, kettle with coffe
Spacious rooms with either patio or balcony
My wife and I had to stay in Sicily for an extra day because our flight got canceled. The airline didn't help us out with a hotel room, so we had to scramble and find a hotel close to the airport. We were pretty stressed and tired, but we lucked out when we found this gem of a hotel. Even though we rolled in super late, they treated us so well that we completely forgot about our flight hassles. I'd totally tell anyone to stay there!
Everything is great!!! Old building, nice stylish rooms, balcony. The owner (Francesco) is super lovely person, met us at the airport and brought us to the hotel, never met such hospitality before, told us about all the good restaurants and asked his friend to help us get to the railway station the next day. If you want to know what is Sicilian hospitality and what a kind people live in Sicily - you should stay at this hotel
The apartment is in the very center of the city. Extremely clean, comfortable and functional accommodation. Towels are changed daily. The hotel organizes taxi transport from the airport. An extremely kind driver, I would say a friend of the hotel owner, explained to us what to see, visit, where the good restaurants are. Everything was great. Warm recommendation to everyone who wants to visit Catania.
Walked to the beach across the road..the city of Catania needs to do a better job at keeping the beaches clean from trash, I was certainly disappointed in the trash at the beach and the lack of upkeep of those beautiful beaches, an opportunity that is being missed for Catania......but the site was beautiful and close to the airport and jumping off spot for our stay in Sicily and travels throughout Sicily.
A very helpful and friendly owner, please don’t expect much from the room, it is very basic, but perfectly clean and kept in the excellent condition. Totally silent room. Breakfast is coffee with croissant, and it is the tastiest pistachio croissant I had in Sicily. Owner advised me in advance about transportation and accepted my late check-in with no hesitation.
We liked the close proximity to Catania airport as we had an early morning flight. Our room was a good size, clean, fresh and still like new. There was a very good pizzeria (Simpsons) close by, would recommend the rucola, best pizza I have had on my 12 day stay in Sicily. There is also a good bar around the corner for coffees, drinks and sweet & savouries food.
We couldn’t believe that we found a hotel a 5 minute walk from the Catania airport: which was perfect for catching an early morning flight, eliminating the stress of trying to make it to the airport in time from Catania or Taormina. The bed was comfortable and any noise from planes went unnoticed.
Don’t be expecting great views. There are car parks in the area.
tranquil, comfortable and conveniently located hotel in the centre of Catania. Easy to reach the main street on foot and across the road from the airport bus stop. Clean, well equipped room with ensuite bathroom. Ample, tasty breakfast served on a roof terrace with views over the city rooftops. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff 24h
Very welcoming and helpful staff- speaking perfect English. Answered questions, advised restaurants etc
Hotel is very well placed for exploring central Catania, convenient for airport bus, station etc
Very useful to have a cool lounge area in which to wait, on a hot afternoon, before going to the airport for an evening flight
I really appreciated my stay at the Plaza Hotel: the staff was nice and friendly, and the service was perfect (super clean room and hotel, great breakfast). The place had a nice mini bar and a safe where I could store all of my valuables. I would warmly recommend the Plaza Hotel to everybody who stays in Catania!
Staying at Plebis B&B in Catania was a wonderful experience. Plebis is like staying in a business 5 stars hotel. Breakfast, cleanliness, the service provided and politeness of the owners is the reason to come back to Catania.
Absolutely perfect, well recommended to stay at Plebis
Beautiful villa within walking distance of the train station and airport. The excellent host communicated with us well and met us to give us the key and instructions for our stay. Perfect accommodations for us to end our trip to Sicily and get to the airport for our 6 AM flight.
top central location
room clean and modern
met with a smile and left luggage.
very friendly and booked us early morning car to airport. If stayed again would have inside room as less noise. Catania has best vibe of city we visited in Sicily
Excellent location for late arrival. Convenient, ample parking at premises. Directly at the beach. Easy to find. Large garden. Wonderful breakfast. Great staff! I came back and spent my last day of my short stay at Sicily as well.
The boutique hotel is well positioned, just 5 min walk to the terminal at Catania airport. There is no staff at reception, you receive clear instructions to get in via your mobile phone.
