The hotel exceeded my expectation: located literally right by the train station, minutes of walk to the ferry to the Amalfi Coast, rooms are very spacious, well maintained and spotless clean (can walk barefoot on the floor type of clean!), free breakfast is decent and very friendly staff (big thanks to Filomina who gave me the most beautifully displayed platter when I asked for a kettle to make tea, and Marika who made extra ham when I was almost late for breakfast). The only minor downside is that it doesn't have a lift so if you have luggage, better ask for a ground floor room although even female staff will offer to help you (thanks again Filomina).

Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento penisular. Railway station (from where you can travel to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, Naples and many other places - local and further afield e.g. Rome or further south). Many buses operating all over the Salerno area and Amalfi Coast. Ferry terminal for travelling to Amalfi Coast towns and Capri. Old Town with narrow streets thronging with shops, places to eat and drink. The Duomo with its magnificent Crypt, Villa Comunale park with the turtles, Castle Arrechi - a steep climb but a great castle and fabulous views. Not a place for a beach holiday but I'd definitely recommend Salerno for exploring the Amalfi coast, Naples, Pompeii and the surrounding area without breaking the bank!

Great experience.
Great experience. Town small enough to walk easily to interesting sites. Lovely old town. Close to Pompeii and Amalfi without being a major tourist hub. Staff of Burger at greated us on the street the next day. Great personal service. The Grand Hotel was excellent. 1 day in Salerno was too long.
1 day in Salerno was too long. There were a lot of homeless and sketchy people. It was like the Newark of Italy...filthy. It didn't even feel like we were in Italy until we got to the old part of town. But, we didn't feel safe here either.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Such an attractive city, clean and interesting. the old town was a pleasure to walk around, the church of St Matteo an absolute must to visit, the promenade along the sea front perfect to stroll along. lots of interesting restaurants and bars and a fabulous ice cream parlour on the sea front - bar Gelateria Nettuno is an absolute must Sadly the botanical gardens (Minerva) are closed for restoration at present

A beautiful town with lots of attractions, cafes and restaurants especially in the city centre. Recommended to be visited during the Holiday Season because of the famous Christmas lighting throughout the whole city

Salerno is a great location for shopping, sightseeing.
Salerno is a great location for shopping, sightseeing. Easy travel to Pompei, Herculaneum by bus or train. The harbour trips give access to Amalfi (a great town but it has many hills), you can take a day trip to Capri, Positano by boat as they run regularly. Salerno has many good shops, bars, restaurants and the Old Town is worth going to see.JohnUnited Kingdom

The windows are large with much natural light coming. The room is very clean and stylish. The bed is extremely comfortable. The balcony is great with a table and two chairs that we enjoyed our breakfast there. Most importantly, the hosts are extremely helpful and hospitable, and they helped us park our car. The location cannot be better, since the housing is just at the central of the city. I cannot recommend it more. This is my best stay in south Italy.

The location is very good close to the ferries and train station, restaurants etc. Salerno is a nice city with little tourists. Travelling to Amalfi by boat is great and taking the train to Pompeii, Rome, Naples or other big cities it easy, cheap and efficient. I highly recommend Salerno and this B&B which is more like a small hotel. We stayed as a couple with our 6 year boy.

Christina and Giovanni are superb hosts and no request big or small was an issue. The location is super as well as its within walking distance of train station, Salerno Concordia ferry port and all the hip eateries along the sea side. The room was extremely clean with all the amnesties that one could expect from a 5 star hotel. They had brochures for all the activities plus maps.
