The resort was quite spacious, Away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. The staff was very nice and helpful and available 24x7.They could speak English which was a relief. The swimming pool area was really nice and serene. They give complementary breakfast too. The cakes and jams are all from their organic farms and home made. But it was more sweet based than anything salty, For those you have a sweet tooth for breakfast, it may be a treat. They also provide bikes(cycles) which you can hire for free for exploring the neighbouring areas. They also provide free parking which was a bonus. Location was perfect for me- calm and peaceful with nature and greenery around. Also, its just 15 mins from ortigia by car, so not far from major tourist attractions too. I also had massage from Sara which was very relaxing. In nutshell, I had a wonderful experience and it was the best place to end my vacation in a relaxing way before starting to work again.

FAQs about hotels in Siracusa

The Very Best of Greece and Rome

A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.

Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.

The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.

The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.

Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.

Visiting the archeological park is very nice, I recommend going early in the morning (8.30AM) before big tourist groups start arriving. Ortigia is also a great place to go: besides sightseeing objects, I particularly recommend via Cavour with lovely small artisan shops. A Putia near Fontana di Diana seemed to be a small diner appreciated both by locals and tourists. Good food, reasonable prices, ok service.

Ortigia is amazing, so much great food, and lovely to walk around. There isn't more than a day's worth of sight-seeing on the island, plus the Archaeological sites in Siracusa, but it is an excellent home base for day trips around south-east Sicily. And perfect for a relaxing holiday - coffee and a pastry in front of the duomo, a walk around the island and a little shopping (mostly touristy stuff unfortunately), and a gelato looking out over the water on the promenade. Very friendly people, lovely architecture and history around every corner, fantastic restaurants, and even in February, SUN!

Siracusa is a lovely city with a lot of history.

Siracusa is a lovely city with a lot of history. The old part of the city on Ortigia island is full of beautiful old buildings and archaeological sites. There are many good restaurants and bars and by and large it is relatively cheap. We rented a car; there are many worthwhile places to visit within an hours drive, including Etna. In the summer a car is essential if you want to get to the many beaches in Sicily

Nestled along the shores of the Ionian Sea, Syracuse...

Nestled along the shores of the Ionian Sea, Syracuse effortlessly captures the essence of ancient and modern Sicily. The heart of the city, Ortigia Island, is a labyrinth of charming alleyways, historic architecture, and vibrant markets. Strolling through the narrow streets reveals hidden gems like the Piazza del Duomo, adorned with the breathtaking Syracuse Cathedral and the Fountain of Arethusa, surrounded by tales from Greek mythology. Syracuse boasts a rich history that unfolds in its archaeological sites. The Greek Theater, a testament to its ancient past, provides a stunning backdrop of the sea. The Ear of Dionysius, a limestone cave with exceptional acoustics, offers a glimpse into the city’s fascinating tales.

The owner Stephano and his wife are really helpfull and kind person. We have visited Siracusa with two children U10. We messed up the parking and drove into the old city, but Stephano arranged everything with the police and we could park in the Dome Square in their house. The breakfast was delicious, the best we have eaten in Sicily! The room was really quiet despite of the central location. Stephano speaks good English and his wife speaks French. I can recommend it for pairs and families as well.

Enzo Is an exceptional host! He went the extra mile to make sure that my stay went extremely well in many aspects. The apartment is large, and I enjoyed the balcony off of the bedroom as well as the sitting area outside the door. The air conditioning was working very well in the extreme temperatures at the time I was in Syracuse. There is a bus stop only 6 minutes away that goes to Catania airport (Syracuse Corso Gelone 52). It was about a 20 minute walk to the Ortigia Bridge for me.

The property was simply divine. Located in the heart of Ortigia, and nestled between patisseries, restaurants and the bustling market, Suites of the Royal Council is a boutique hotel where you must stay at least once in your life. The hosts were wonderful, helpful and kind. The use of their private solarium was a wonderful surprise and added to the enjoyment of our trip. The property even has an archeological site on it. The rooms were a bit old but all in all fine. The staff at this place are EXCEPTIONAL. Just a side note that it is necessary to have a car to get to the property and they don't always serve food so check in advance!
