The rooms are spacious, and very clean (including the linen and towels). The staff was very helpful and friendly. The resort is opposite the sea. In addition, it is about 10/15 minutes' walking distance to a Supermarket (Conad) and restaurants. They also provide internal parking. Breakfast was good and fresh. Upon request, more fresh bread and scrambled eggs were made for us.

Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento...
Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento penisular. Railway station (from where you can travel to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, Naples and many other places - local and further afield e.g. Rome or further south). Many buses operating all over the Salerno area and Amalfi Coast. Ferry terminal for travelling to Amalfi Coast towns and Capri.
Old Town with narrow streets thronging with shops, places to eat and drink. The Duomo with its magnificent Crypt, Villa Comunale park with the turtles, Castle Arrechi - a steep climb but a great castle and fabulous views.
Not a place for a beach holiday but I'd definitely recommend Salerno for exploring the Amalfi coast, Naples, Pompeii and the surrounding area without breaking the bank!

1 day in Salerno was too long.
1 day in Salerno was too long. There were a lot of homeless and sketchy people. It was like the Newark of Italy...filthy. It didn't even feel like we were in Italy until we got to the old part of town. But, we didn't feel safe here either.

Salerno is a great location for shopping, sightseeing.
Salerno is a great location for shopping, sightseeing. Easy travel to Pompei, Herculaneum by bus or train. The harbour trips give access to Amalfi (a great town but it has many hills), you can take a day trip to Capri, Positano by boat as they run regularly. Salerno has many good shops, bars, restaurants and the Old Town is worth going to see.
Wonderful! The room was beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable! Host was so kind and welcoming. The room was big and felt like a suite. We were thankful for the air conditioner as it was so hot outside! The traditional Italian breakfast displayed in the dining room was a very nice touch. The vibe here is true to the buildings' history; quiet, relaxing old world Italian villa.Just what we wanted while visiting Italy for the first time. Also, it was easy to find from the train station and just steps away from shopping and restraunts.
Everything in the apartment is wonderful and much beyond our expectation. The windows are large with much natural light coming. The room is very clean and stylish. The bed is extremely comfortable. The balcony is great with a table and two chairs that we enjoyed our breakfast there. Most importantly, the hosts are extremely helpful and hospitable, and they helped us park our car. The location cannot be better, since the housing is just at the central of the city. I cannot recommend it more. This is my best stay in south Italy.
Great location, in the heart of Salerno with a lot of attractions and restaurants nearby. There is no parking but we didn’t have any problems parking on the streets. We arrived at 18:00 and had clear instructions to self check in. The room was spacious and very clean, as well as the common hall. We had snacks and small cakes in the room for breakfast, as well as water bottles and juice. The bed was very comfy and it was very quiet at night. Overall it was a great stay, perfect value for money.
I would agree with the other reviews. The host is super nice, the facilities are good and it is nice and clean. The location is very good close to the ferries and train station, restaurants etc. Salerno is a nice city with little tourists. Travelling to Amalfi by boat is great and taking the train to Pompeii, Rome, Naples or other big cities it easy, cheap and efficient. I highly recommend Salerno and this B&B which is more like a small hotel. We stayed as a couple with our 6 year boy.
I can’t believe what a gem we found. Christina and Giovanni are superb hosts and no request big or small was an issue. The location is super as well as its within walking distance of train station, Salerno Concordia ferry port and all the hip eateries along the sea side. The room was extremely clean with all the amnesties that one could expect from a 5 star hotel. They had brochures for all the activities plus maps. I can’t recommend this place enough!!❤️
Best place I stayed during my visit. Hosts were lovely and helpful.
Room was with hotel quality but airbnb flexibility. It had kitchen corner with all facilities, large table and tea set. On balcony was possibility to dry laundry which was really needed at that point. TV enabled to connect to Netflix and other platforms.
Massimo gave excellent Salerno tips, and even voucher for beach bar which was also great place.
Location of the hotel is perfect. It is very safe, located on a walking plaza filled with shopping, restaurants, cafe's, etc. It is across from the train station which was ideal for getting back to Rome to fly home. Ferries to the Amalfi coast were easily accessible and a few minute walk. I would much rather stay in Salerno than fighting the crowds and cost of the Amalfi coast. Breakfast was excellent.
Great place, felt more like a hotel!
The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and it was nice and clean.
The people running it was also very nice and gave me a lot of info about things to do in the area and also good places to eat.
Only stayed for a night, but if I’m going back to Salerno I will definitely check if they have a room available!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Montestella Hotel in Salerno, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. The hotel's location was convenient, allowing easy access to both the city center and the beautiful Amalfi Coast. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, always ready to provide assistance or recommendations.
Ivan and Rosaria were the perfect hosts. They went over the top to make sure we had an amazing stay. The room was comfortable, clean and the food was amazing. We will definitely be going back. This was one of our longest stays in Italy and when we left I felt like we had made great friends.
Very nice thematic B&B/mini-hotel. We had the Japan-room but the whole apartment was very nice. Shared living-room/breakfastroom was excellent and location wise you are in the centre of Salerno. Breakfast was excellent and served by a very nice 'nonna di casa' with home-baked cakes.
Location of the property was perfect. Very close to train station and walkable distance to shops and restaurants. It’s a nice stop to spend the night after flying in to Italy and rental cars are nearby for the next day.
Host and family don’t speak much English but were nice
A wonderful place to stay, Pasquale was so kind and attentive and made amazing food recommendations (I have never eaten better in Italy than at Vasilico!). Comfortable bed, great position, historical building and well-preserved apartment.
Beautiful Villa with a spectacular view of
Salerno and the bay. Excellent location ..few steps down into town. Everything about the hotel is just perfect ..rooms, restaurant, pool, gardens and wonderful, welcoming family atmosphere.
Great location, short walk from the train station, close to the old part of Salerno and the ferries. Rooms were clean, staff very friendly and helpful.
