History, Dolomites, Vineyards and Castles
Trento is a town defined by its closeness to the Dolomites, bordered by the vineyards along the banks of the Adige River, and signposted by castles that once defended the road leading towards the Alpine passes of Brenner and Reschen. Though that gives some hints, it doesn’t unveil the rich mix of Alpine, Germanic and Mediterranean cultures that represent the cornerstone of its identity.
It is believed that it was founded as ‘Trent’ by Gauls in the 4th century BC, becoming ‘Tridentum’ under Roman rule. After the fall of the empire and centuries of dispute, the region knew prosperity under the rule of several Prince-Bishops, and was later integrated to the Austrian South Tyrol, until its final incorporation to the Kingdom of Italy after World War I. It boasts nowadays one of the highest qualities of life in Italy, while the University of Trento ranks among the country’s best.
The city’s historic centre shows the typical cultural pattern that characterises the area. Buonconsiglio Castle overlooks the city from the top of a rock, while the cathedral and Piazza Duomo shouldn’t be missed. In the Old Town's narrow streets you’ll find some of the most picturesque hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in Trento.

A lovely small city with attractive buildings, various museums and churches, good cafes and restaurants and interesting shops. Having passed the city many times on the rail route from Munich to Bologna, we’re glad to have finally broken the journey there.

We just love these "small big cities" across Europe.
We just love these "small big cities" across Europe. They have their own identity. Still, Trento is the epitome of what you would expect of any Italian town. Cozy streets, atmospheric squares, impressive architecture, great bars and restaurants and good shopping. And with surroundings like the southern Alps - the Dolomites - what is not to like?

Trento is a fantastic old historical city, full of monuments, pleasant small restaurants, and coffee bars. Besides that, Trento has very good museums. But, surrounding rivers, brooks, lakes, waterfalls, and gorgeous mountains are an added value for the Trentino region, including the Lago di Garda with charming cities alongside the lake. The visit to Trento during the summertime is some kind of refreshing escape from the hot Mediterranean summer temperatures.

The person who owns Clesio 2 cant possibly have a rating of 7.9 on Booking.com when he doesnt answer his text messages or his phone. What is wrong is he fixing the answers with fake people. Trento was destoyed by this person. I wanted to enjoy my time in this town and all I did was stand around waiting for a person to answer my calls. Clesio 2 made my time in Trento the worst experience I have ever had in a town.
Poor Trento, I feel sorry for anyone who encounters this person.
I didnt get to see any of Trento because of this person. It made me very sad.

Extremely disappointed with their lack of reactivity:
Extremely disappointed with their lack of reactivity:
Firstly, I explained our stay depended on secure storage for our bicycles. They recommended secure public storage which was user-UNfriendly to set up online. Our ETA was after nightfall and we did not want to arrive without acceptable safe storage set up.
Trento offered no credible help despite my repeated request for help.
Secondly, due to high winds our ferry arrived late in Livorno and we informed Trento we would not be able to arrive before the Trento airbnb arrival curfew. Trento‘s reply came hours later - too late for us to continue our journey and arrive there post- curfew.
We come to Italy very often. And every time we passed Trento without stopping there. This time we changed our mind and it was fantastic idea. I supposed Trento would be nice, but it is incredibly beautiful and absolutely worth seeing. BUT: the weather was italian - extremely hot (around 30 degrees C at 6 PM) but the opening times are central european. The moment you want to go to the museum or shops, they are closing... The hotel is perfect, perfect place, very friendly stuff and delicious breakfast served outside with cathedral view.
Simple room but freshly renovated, quite large, spotlessly clean, everything you need is there. Good location at the edge of the Centro Storico: 12 min walk to the station. Free dedicated parking, not locked at night but it looks and feels secure. Ten minutes' walk to the Duomo. Extremely friendly staff.
The breakfast is, well, 'Italian'. But after all you are in Italy. Highlight was home-made cake but there were also cereals, some fruit, cheese, ham. The coffee, from a machine, was good.
What more do you need?
Guilia met us outside and checked us in at the office. She was very friendly and kindly walked us to our apartment to let us in and give us the key. The location was excellent for walking around interesting sights in Trento and to the many restaurants. There was a parking garage nearby which made it easy to take luggage back and forth.
Nice location with an excellent cost/benefit. The room is nicely set, and has a very decent breakfast. Having a parking lot is very convenient, considering that parking in Trento is not the easiest exercise.
If you are fine walking, the city centre is a handful of blocks away from the hotel and you can also enjoy the life in the city.
Second time staying here, and I would stay again a third! Nice rooms, comfy beds, beautiful views. and excellent breakfast in the morning. Love the location, only took us 15 min to reach the Christmas market. Good communication with hotel re: parking and self check-in after 6pm. Will likely stay here again.
Excellent location in the heart of Trento old town. Elisa and Carlo were wonderful hosts— we enjoyed talking with them as well as meeting other guests during breakfast. The room was spacious and clean! Location is an easy walk to many restaurants and a lively Piazza Duomo di Trento.
Great location, great views. The place is easy to reach by the bus since it's on the mountain. The staff was helpful and nice. It was lovely since the hotel gave us a city guest card that gave us free public transportation. The place was clean and quite comfortable
A beautiful, elegant hotel with a marvelous garden. The view upon the mountains was simply out of this world.
Wonderful breakfast, with all the typical Italian culinary wonders.
If I return to Trento, I will most certainly enjoy another stay in Villa Madruzzo.
Unlike other hostels, each (6-bed) dorm had its own bathroom, which was nice. Moreover, all people working there were quite friendly and, most importantly, could communicate in English - which is not always the case in Italy. Also, the breakfast was quite good.
Excellent location. Stylish, modern, clean and well equipped apartment. Very comfortable bed. Easy check in. Good communication. Best our stay in Italy ever. Can't wait to come back. Francesca is very kind and helpful. Many thanks!
Perfect location in Trento’s historical center. The rooms were modern, clean, and incredibly comfortable. We had the pleasure of staying at the fifth floor with a wonderful view on mountains.
Very helpful and accommodating staff.
Very characteristic hotel in the nature near Trento. The restaurant of the hotel is very good, rooms are renovated and characteristic. Personal of the hotel is very friendly, they helped us with what we needed.
Great location for walking around the city. Room was large, beds were very comfortable. Hotel staff helpful and very friendly. Restaurant food was also very good. Perfect place to stay when in Trento
Great location to walk around and see Trento. Very spacious and modern room and huge, beautiful bathroom. I only stayed one night, but I really enjoyed it! Breakfasts are great
Hosts kindly accommodated us for early check-in and late check-out. Very comfortable bed. One of the best showers I have experienced in italy. Hosts were very responsive.
Exclusive hotel in the center of Trento. Comfortably furnished, very good breakfast, parking in the garage, a few minutes from the main center and square.
Very nice hotel in perfect location right in the center of Trento. Public parking within 30m of the hotel. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious.
