Catania is a nice city . The market, the food, the Monasterio Benedictino. We wanted to go to the beach so we asked how were the beaches near the hotel and got recomendations for the public beach you can acced with the local bus. It was not a god experience, very dirty, ruined, and bus took ages to arrive

Catania history center was quite shocking.
Catania history center was quite shocking. Dirty, garbage on the streets, nobody cleans after the dogs, abandoned buildings, impressive old palaces uncured, decaying, facades ruined...
However, the easygoing way gets under your skin in just a day or two. Lot of small eateries and bars where you can enjoy your food, coffee or drink and kind citizens, always ready to answer any question a tourist could have, beat the flaws.
Palaces and city structure with long wide streets show the splendour this city had in the past. Pitty it doesn't apply for the present. It has so much potantial, and not only for tourism.

The city of Catania is an exceptionally dirty city, where the strong influence of past poverty is strongly felt. It's one of the uglier cities we've visited in Sicily, but it's definitely worth seeing and experiencing.

Catania is nice for a couple of days.
Catania is nice for a couple of days. You feel unsafe when you walk far from via Etnea. The main street is fantastic, the food is not expensive. A lot of churches to visit. If you can, visit Taormina and Cefalu. Magnificent places for one day tour.

Exploring the main sightseeings of Catania could be done within a day. If a tourist is more detailed and interested in spending time in museums, then they could easily do it in 2 days. Catania is a good accommodation base from where tourists can organize visits to other sightseeings in Sicily.
Driving in Sicily (especially in Palermo and Catania) could be quite challenging for people not used to driving in an environment where there are rules which are not very much obeyed by the drivers.

Great city, quite industrial, good logistics.
Great city, quite industrial, good logistics.
We travelled to Syracuse, Taormina, Aci Treze, Aci Costello, to the beach.
There is a good market in Catania and a lot of shops. We cooked at the accommodation. Good drinks with red oranges in the bars, great ice-cream. We enjoyed the stay
The bedrooms were really modern and had a lot of privacy for a shared hostel room. Aircon was a big bonus as it was 38 degrees. The square where there are lovely restaurants is a few minutes away by foot. Staff were friendly and organised a hike up mount Etna once/twice a week. To be honest I did not spend much time in Catania itself as I used it as a base since it was close to the airport I came from, and was going back to. It is really a nice location to do day trips to other areas of Sicily and to climb Mount Etna.
The setting of Nèroli Bio Relais is lovely, peaceful and much appreciated after a day of sightseeing in and around the entire southeast side of Sicily. It is an easy drive to Catania airport – even for our early am departure back to the US.
The staff and the chef go out of their way to make you comfortable and meet any needs you may have. The chef stayed late and on his supposed day off to prepare soup for four weary travelers that needed a little TLC (we were fortunate to be invited by another couple).
The staff at the hotel was exceptional. We were unexpected guests as we had to find a hotel in Catania with very short notice after Mt. Etna erupted and the airport closed. The hotel staff was extraordinary. They were so welcoming and kind. The two women working at the front desk (Dani in particular) sat with us for over an hour to figure out an alternate route to Rome to continue our vacation. We were so grateful to find this hotel and work with the amazing staff. Thank you again!
An excellent place before or after a flight and I would add - even beyond that - the distance to the center of Catania is very short. And even this apartment can be used as a starting point for a trip with a car in Sicily, a well-maintained and well-furnished apartment in all respects. Near consumers, restaurants and a cafeteria. Walking distance of about 10 minutes from the airport. The owner of the apartment - a wonderful and kind woman who will help you in everything.
A really excellent place to stay - it was our second stay, we started our holiday there, and ended it there as well. It is conveniently located near the airport, and easy to reach via highway. Also a good base to explore the eastern part of Sicily, Catania, Taormina, Siracusa, Mt Etna, or just to spend a day lingering at the pool. Personnel is super friendly and enthusiastic, taking the best care of you. We even could have an early breakfast on the day of departure.
Perfect location - very short walk from the main sightseeings, but very quiet at night. They have indoor parking right next to the hotel. The breakfast was amazing - a lot of options and everything was super delicious! The lady at the front office - Paola is amazing! The most kind and helpful person we met during our Sicily trip! It was lovely meeting and chatting with her. If we ever get back to Catania we will definitely stay there again. Thank you, Paola!
We used this as a cheap stop over before an early morning flight out of Catania and it worked for that. They have a restaurant that made us a pretty good dinner on our schedule and they made us a take away breakfast which actually came in handy. Note to those turning in a car at 5:00 in the morning, on the way to the airport there was only one gas station open and it was the last one on the right and it did not show up on any of my maps.
Very nice boutique hotel, extremely well situated in Catania, with minimalist yet stylish (and spacious) room. The hotel staff were very friendly. The restaurant - both for dinner and breakfast - is a must! The dinner was delicious and the wine amazing. The breakfast was equally wonderful with a lot of tasty and local products. I would definitely recommend this place for any stay in Catania and hope to be back.
Absolutely gorgeous place. Don't let the outside fool you. Italy has so many old buildings Sicily too
But the long winding steps ( a lot) no elevator was worth it.
Maria was an angel
I checked in early and she carried my heavy suitcase for me!!
Only thing I didn't like was they sent me two text stating if I lost a key or did something (can't remember) id automatically be billed 200 euros
Uh I don't think so
This was our first night in Sicily ever and I am glad I chose this place for 2 nights, enjoyed a lot. Easy to reach with the airport bus, nice walk to the centre. Spotless clean, large room, gorgeous place for breakfast, sweet terrace, plus our room had a small balcony and amazing host! If not her, we would miss her tips on places where to eat the best fish I ever had . We would definitely go again!
The apartment is overall nice in a quirky way. It's clean, relatively spacious, and well stocked with everything we needed. It's very good for value. The host is very responsive and helpful. It's relatively quiet and the neighborhood seems clean and safe, which is not so common in Sicily. There seems to be plenty of hot water supply unlike other apartments we have stayed in in Sicily.
I like evrth! The host was amazing! Paolo and his mum was so kind. They were supporting and helping in evrt bcs if the diverted flight from Catania airport, I was needed to find taxi and reach other city in a few hours. So the helped me a lot! Thanks for this.
Also, the hotel is only few minutes from the main road. So evrth was perfect. Thank you so much!
The staff were excellent, they helped me organize a cake for my fiancé’s birthday. They let us store our luggage there when we arrived early. They also helped organize a driver from the airport to the hotel. We were only in Catania for 1 night but they showed us where to see/eat while we were there which was helpful.
We had a very nice stay at Vera room. The location is good, the room itself is very comfortable and with the beautiful ceiling. Alberto was very kind and easy going. Our plane was delayed but Alberto still picked us up from the airport and gave us good tips for Catania and Sicily. Thank you!
The accommodation is located very central and at the same it is very quiet. The rooms are spacious and clean. The host was very helpful facilitating an easy check-in, providing travel tips and recommendations. I would definitely return to DG Sicily for my next trip to Catania.
Good continental breakfast, free parking is available at the hotel, the internet works great in the room, the woman at the desk was very helpful and gave us useful information regarding transportation options and places to travel in Catania and in Sicily.
Paolo was an exceptional and very attentive host, and provided us with the best breakfast of our entire trip to Sicily. Our stay in Catania was wonderful. Would definitely come back!
Centrally located in the city. In front of the hotel there is a bus stop and a bus stops - Alibus from the airport of Catania. Nearby via Roma with various branded boutiques.
