The rapidly expanding Jordanian capital, Amman is an economic powerhouse spread over various hills. Atop one sits the Citadel, containing remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules, a Byzantine church and an 8th-century mosque and palace.
Also here is the Jordan Archaeological Museum, and at the foot of the hill is a Roman theatre, part built in the rock. Modern housing blocks surround it, but the most avant-garde architecture is in the developing Al Abdali business district.
The tallest Amman structures will be the Jordan Gate Towers and will house one of the city’s high-rise hotels. International brands of restaurants and bar can be found alongside more traditional cuisine in Amman, and many eateries are in the large Mecca Mall and Grand City Mall, which also has a cinema.
Nearby is the desert-like vegetation of Al Hussein National Park, and the Royal Automobile Museum which features cars of King Hussein, ruler for over 40 years and after whom are named city sights such as the King Hussein Business Park and mosque. The King Abdullah I Mosque has a beautiful blue dome, while Abu Darweesh Mosque at Amman’s highest point is a striking black-and-white structure.
Booking.com’s Amman accommodation includes 5-star hotels, apartments in the embassy district, and cheap hostels, all within easy reach of Queen Alia Airport.

It was a beautiful city. The procedures were smooth and comfortable. The architectural style of the city was modern and beautiful. The level of food was good and the prices were between medium and high. In terms of the cleanliness of the city, it was very good. There was crowding at times.

Lack of recognizable food chains posed challenging food-searches but overall situation can be manageable. Traffic can be considered an issue and driving in Amman might be tricky (stick to uber / careem apps).

Amman is a great place to stay for a few days, even for someone like me who doesn't particularly enjoy city stays. Super easy to get around by walking, or by taxi (you can use the careem app or Uber), and many local buses go within Amman as well as buses to take you to other cities in the country. Options for local food are great for budget travelers (you can spend as little as 1 JD to get a good sandwich). I loved exploring the different neighborhoods around as well as the downtown area. Make sure to check out Hashem for its famous falafel and hummus. If you like Turkish bath houses, the Al-Pacha one was amazing and I would recommend it! The locals in the city are super friendly and helpful and not as pushy to sell you things or trying to take advantage of you which is also amazing.

A very authentic experience.
A very authentic experience. This was the first Arabic city I ever visited and I loved it. The landscape has a lot of hills so you should wear comfortable shoes and be ready to go up and down all the time.
Locals are very friendly and cheerful.
When it comes to food, you can find everything from cheap (but delicious) local food for as low as 1 EUR for a falafel set to posh, exquisite restaurants with a menu in English in the city center.
The whole city is a huge bazaar where you can buy anything.
There are not so many historic landmarks but the Citadel and the Roman Theater are nice, and the view from there is charming.

i would definitely recommend this city for travelers because it is a charming and colorful town it is true that it is a big city one of the biggest in the Middle East but it has everything for everyone. restaurants, bars old ruins, shops new ones and old style a like And it has wonderful and kind people anytime ready to help and to make your stay a wonderful experience. Moving around is easy despite the traffic could be hard sometimes, there are massive traffic jams at the rush hours but there are a great deal of taxis they are yellow and use meters the price is not high There is also Uber and the local Careem
Places to go, rainbow street for many it is the most beautiful street in Amman, you may try the best falafel in the Middle East at Al Quds there are many bars and restaurants and shops that sell souvenirs some good stuff. Downtown is a bustling area we bought coffee from one of the oldest coffee shops in town, there are also I think 3 Habiba sweets that sell baclava and kunafeh made in many ways The habiba sweets shop between King Faisal square and K Ghazi street it is said to be the original but they all have delicious sweets
The new area in the Abdali the Abdali boulevard and the Abdali Mall are worth a night out
The citadel is a must it is inhabited from the old times it was the center of the kingdom of Ammon and there are ruins from the period of the Romans and the Byzantines and also the Omayyad also a must is the roman theater in the Hashemite Square
For going out one may try the Paris Square in Jabal al Lweibdeh
Amman is the capital of an amazing country, it is a safe place to go
I loved it
Nice hotel located in the middle of the capital easy access to everything you need. Close to the Roman amphitheater and the castle in the heart of the capital Amman and the very special thing is the staff and the cleanliness of the building and they have the ability to help organize trips inside Jordan where they have qualified drivers and licensed to take tourists on tours to most tourist places such as Petra, Wadi Rum and northern Jordan and they do exchange for Euros, Dollar with good rate
Of course I recommend this beautiful hotel
Perfect location in the city center with the citadel, roman theater etc in walking distance. The rooms are big and comfortable. The hotel is on the main road but it's quiet nevertheless in the night and in the morning.
Very good breakfast and the best staff: Yahia, Bassam and all the staff go above and beyond to make your stay a wonderful experience. They've helped us to book a trip & tour for our whole stay in Jordan and gave us great recommendations for Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea.
The location is excelent, very close to busy comercial area and other "must" location in Amman like Hashem restaurant or Habibah Sweets. The best value in the hotel are common areas like the sofa from second floor or the roof top area. We have stayed every evening in roof top discussing, observing the street life, sharing a shisa...
Is a good starting point for visiting the citadel of Amman, roman amphitheater and the receptionist will give you all the info you need and a map also.
The Castle Star Hotel has great location in Old city of Amman, very close to shops and landmarks. The room was very clean and provide comfort and great view. The staff is very friendly and provide great hospitality. Also very helpful advising us how to get around. There is a beautiful view from the terrace-my favourite spot to feel the pace of the city. The hotel offers also good breakfast in traditional Jordanian style. The fridge in the room is a big advantage .
Farah Hotel.. Thanks to this hotel, we spent our best time in Jordan! The staff are so kind, helpful and cheerful, they welcomed us in the best way and made our comfy in any aspect. It was a truly amazing experience with Farah hotel. I strongly suggest staying here and meeting with the personnel of this hotel. Everything is just nearby, walking distance and easy to find from any part of Amman. Thanks a lot for hosting here, hope to see you again!
Excellent experience! The hotel is perfectly located in the city center of Amman. Sightseeing, food and shopping are very close. The service is amazing, the staff is very polite and even helped us with booking transfers through Jordan as well as a great Hamam near by. Breakfast is a very nice buffet at low cost. We would highly recommend to stay at this lovely hotel.
Only remark: Due to its central location it tends to be a bit noisy sometimes.
The receptionist Mohammad Al Attar was amazing! So friendly, professional and helpful and he made our stay awesome! He gave us free dinner and the food was just amazing. Hamad was very nice and smiling too and i believe this is one of the best hotels you can book in Amman. New rooms, outstanding service, delicious food and great location. I plan to stay in Monarch Hotel in every visit to Amman. Keep it up!
We ran from Israel because of the situation of the war with Gaza. A Jordanian agency helped us get out and we had to sleep one night in Amman. They booked this hotel for us last minute: perfect, the people were ready with the check in done, offered dinner, the showers were wonderful with great pressure, they made breakfast boxes for us at 4.30 am because we had to leave super early. Awesome .
The hotel is well located 5 minutes from the Roman Theater, the Odeon Theater, 15 minutes from the Amman Citadel and 30 minutes from the Jordanian Museum.
The owner and Fatima are very kind and helpful.
The room is nice, the bed was comfortable and there is a heater.
Breakfast is good and you have access to tea and coffee 24 hours a day.
Great and friendly front desk staff , even more we have been obtained free upgrade from double room to apartment , excelent location with 20 minutes walking by to City Center , excelent facilities , very good restaurant , free parking , briefly a real 5 stars hotel , actually the greatest one encountered during our 7 days Jordan journey.
We had a beautiful view from our balcony😍 The location of the hotel is very nearby most of the famous places in Amman. The whole team here are one of the kindest people we have met in Jordan. Everyone was asking us if we needed something and they made it feel like home for us especially Rand, Issah and shafeeq
As an American, getting to experience a Ritz-Carlton for the first price because of the favorable rates in Amman was an amazing experience. The staff is incredible, the rooms and beds are luxurious and the breakfast is the best I’ve had at a hotel in ages. Would stay here again and recommend it to my friends!
The best hotel I have ever visited, with cleanliness, arrangement and facilities, and there is nothing better than that, with respectable and upscale staff
It has the best views in Amman, Jordan I advise visitors to visit it
I booked it for one night and had a great time I added four days 😃
This was my first stay at the New Merryland hotel as I arrived from Canada to Jordan. The hotel was located in the heart of Amman and the staff were exceptionally helpful especially Ahmed. He took care of my booking and helped me when I arrived and made sure my stay was great.
Super clean, close to the Specialty Hospital, great staff, non-smoking hotel, big room, comfortable bed, big bathroom, quiet, nice breakfast. probably the best hotel in this price range I’ve ever stayed in here in Amman.
best value/ quality ratio i’ve seen in my life even knowing that i traveled to 30 countries. Location is perfect, staff are extremely nice, rooms and breakfast are outstanding! That’s the ideal hotel for me in Amman.
