Unfortunately I was thinking of another hotel when I did my initial review so I badly underscored this hotel. My apologies to Hotel GrandBach - it is an outstanding hotel worthy of a 10 and not the 7 I gave it. Beautiful hotel, modern, clean, wonderful atmosphere, great facilities, amazing onsen, live music, free snacks and beverages in the lounge, friendly and helpful staff, easy location - I can’t commend it more.

Sendai is a city that must be visited for several days. Because there are many places to visit.
The city center is modern and more has shopping.
Outside the city there are important historical sites.

Sendai is known as the City of Trees - and for good reason.
Sendai is known as the City of Trees - and for good reason. There's an insane amount of massively large and tall cedar trees everywhere! It's a very easily walkable city and if you need to go to parts beyond there's great transport links, either via the metro, overland train (JR), trams, or even the Sendai City Loople Bus - which takes you around to about a half dozen major attractions - think hop on / hop off.
Must see spots in Sendai are Rinnouji Temple, Zuihoden Mausoleum, Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle), and a little further out of the city (about an hour by train) is Yamadera Temple - not to be missed!
The city is centred around the massive train station in the centre of town and it does not disappoint. There's floors of shopping, restaurants, groceries, fancy food vendors, anything you could want. If you can't find anything in the labyrinthian corridors of the station, venture outside to the over 2500 restaurants and bars. I challenge you to not find something - anything - to satiate yourself with.

I absolutely adored Sendai and will visit again!
I absolutely adored Sendai and will visit again! The only problem that we had was the heat and humidity during the middle of September limited what we could do, but we made the most of our time at the Sendai train station-shopping!, the trees in the area were beautiful (I can see why they call it city of trees), we road the buses quite a bit (air conditioning) so we got to see quite a bit of the city, and made the most of the mall that was near the train station. Felt VERY SAFE there, the only con that I could say would be that unlike Tokyo, there were not to many people who spoke English but we expected that because our daughter works there, however she did most of the translating and figuring out the yen to buy things was actually quite easy, except for the coins. Navigating the trains was pretty easy, the people there knew some english and were quite helpful. It was a wonderful place to do it, very pretty and we will go again next year.

Tanebata is very nice to visit.
Tanebata is very nice to visit.
Castle was in our opinion not very interesting, Zui hoden is really worth a visit.
Beef tongue is a delicious dish!
Sendai is very good to visit Mashushima bay, and that is really a wonderful place to go
+ Location is wonderful as it's within one of the major food and shopping districts, as well as being only a few blocks away from Sendai Station
+ It's a capsule hotel, so of course the price per night is great for those traveling solo and/or who are on a budget. Also the shelf space and locker storage within the capsule unit itself is an additional plus
+ Comes with some very nice faculties such as the public bath, sauna and exercise room
Located about a 5 minute walk from JR Sendai Station, Almont Hotel Sendai is conveniently situated for exploration. The room was average size for the country and the accommodations were well cared for and clean.
The spa/onsen area was accessible and relaxing, a great way to unwind from the days travels. I did not have the breakfast but there was the option.
Check-out was simple with a digital kiosk, multiple languages were available.
Close to the shinkansen, close to downtown, perfect launch point for exploring Sendai and it's surrounding attractions
Capsules managed to stay cool while sleeping in them, mattresses are on the thin side, which some may dislike but I personally prefer
Good cost performance
Facilities were all clean and functional, gym (at a small extra charge) and outdoor bath are both great amenities
Located a few minutes walk from train station. Property is nice, room clean and comfortable. Staff professional, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet offerings were outstanding! The bathroom was big, unlike typical Japanese bathrooms, so that was a nice surprise. There's a Family Mart next to the hotel and many shops and restaurants within walking distance.
The room interior and ambience beat my expectation and the money. It is spacious enough for one person to stay, which is rare for the business hotel at this scale in Japan. The location is within walking distance to Sendai station and subway system, which is at the centre of the city, making the transportation easy.
Very clean and spacious room. Bathroom is huge. The hotel can be accessed from JR Sendai by following the signs to the Sendai Subway and exit via West 1. It’s sheltered all the way and there are lifts as well. The hotel is directly connected to a Starbucks and 7-11 and located near many shops and restaurants.
For a 3 star hotel, the room was good sized and laid out well. It was clean and comfortable. Close to Sendai Station. Had a public baths too. Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was okay, but not great. Would recommend for a 1-2 night stay if you want to be near public transportation.
Great location adjacent to the train station, and hotel retains a 1990's elegance if also a bit of fustiness. My room was comfortable if slightly worn with nice west view over Sendai. Very clean and wifi worked well. Bathroom sparse but fine. Booked in advance so great value for money.
Located about a 10-minute walk from Sendai Station, KOKO Hotel Sendai South is clean, comfortable, and quiet. The rooms are the perfect size, not too small, and the front desk staff is very helpful. The laundry facilities are easy to use too. Hope to stay here again sometime!
The hotel is very close to the JR Sendai Station. Our room had a separate toilet and shower. It has 3 washing machines and dryers which is always handly when travelling. For the price it was a good hotel. The staff were lovely.
The location was great, I could walk to the hotel from 2nd floor of Sendai station. Shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom were great, my hair was so soft after using them. I wish I could buy them home.
The best hotel in Japan! I can’t think of a single complaint. Great location, very close to the station. Staff were friendly and the facilities were fantastic!
Great location near Sendai station, clean rooms, friendly staff and they held our luggage for us. We loved the pjs and amenities downstairs in the lobby free !
