We stayed near Nagoya station so all sort of stores and food stalls are available. We love the transportation system as always, (Japan got the best). We like the day tours we booked to Takayama and Shirakawa-go, also Nabana Nosato.
Easy to navigate, not so crowded, quiet place and of course safe even for solo lady traveler.

We liked the food, restaurants are everywhere with variety of choices, from ramen to yakiniku to curry. Shopping is also okay although limited shops but overall shopping experience is okay. We almost could not fit all in the luggage. It is also easy to go around. You can just walk or take the subway. We were there during New Year, most shops are Closed.

Nagoya is a vibrant city.
Nagoya is a vibrant city. I don't know why people say it's boring there's plenty to do, and it's got decent transport so it's easy enough to get around it's just a bit spread out. Obviously it isn't Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto, but it would be unfair to compare it to thoes. It you're looking for night life head to Sakae.

Nagoya was wonderful.
Nagoya was wonderful. Very chill in comparison to Tokyo and the food is absolutely outstanding. The specialities of the area are a must try. It's a great base for day trips further afield; we took a bus tour to Takayama and Shirakawa-go which was also wonderful. There seems to be plenty to do but since we were only there a short while other than multiple restaurants we only really visited the castle.

Nagoya is not boring at all!
Nagoya is not boring at all! Especially during end of November. The autumn foliage at Korankei, Tokugawa Garden and the night view of Shirotori gardens just took my breathe away. Did a Boat ride at Inuyama to Mototaro Shrine and beautiful autumn views as i walked back to the train station. A trip to Shurakeon Park has no disappointment too. Last but not least, Nagoya is just an hour Shinkansen ride to Kyoto. Nagoya served as a good base for me and also the prices of the hotels are reasonable compared to those in Kyoto.

Nagoya is the best city in Japan in terms of shopping,...
Nagoya is the best city in Japan in terms of shopping, sightseeing, learning local culture, enjoying national cousine and such things. Unlike Kyoto, it is not so expensive. Food is delicious and priced reasonably. I would come to Nagoya again and again, but never recommend you to visit Kyoto, unless you want to lose your weight 😁.
The hotel is very close to Nagoya Station, which makes it very convenient for travelling around the area! APA Hotels also make it very easy to drop off bags early or keep them at the hotel after check-out as well as quick and easy check outs. This property's rooms are a bit on the smaller side, so I'd recommend this more for solo travelers or those who don't need much space. There was still ample luggage space, so for the Nagoya area this was a FANTASTIC value!
The hotel was very near the Nagoya station (accessible JR, Meitetsu, Kintetsu, local subway - railways and buses). Walking from the airport train exit to the hotel lobby was just a few minutes away. B1 of the hotel leads to the underground walkways of the station which provided short cuts instead of walking above ground. There were lots of food shops where you can buy bento boxes and snacks in the underground.
Pros: walking distance from the train station and very inexpensive. Plus, breakfast is included. Also, there was a great yakitori restaurant next door that seemed to be filled with locals. We were just passing through Nagoya for the night so it met our needs but in hindsight, I would have chosen a more expensive hotel if the rooms were bigger.
The JR Hotel is conveniently located at the Nagoya Station. This seemed to be a newer hotel and very clean. There are many restaurants and shopping options available in the hotel to enjoy. The train station also has many restaurants and shopping options available. It was also very close to the attractions we planned to visit.
Location was close to the station - but on the west (not so happening side). If I went to Nagoya again, I'd look for a place East of the station. There was a wide variety of amenties on the ground floor, like bath powder, face masks, and so on - which were way more than I've seen in other hotels.
The hotel is in a convenient location within reasonable walking distance of shopping districts and is close to Nagoya Station by public transport. The room was great and the self-serve amenities and free hot coffee/cocoa machine helped make this one of the higher quality hotels in Japan.
We had a lovely stay here during a work trip. The hotel is very well located, short 5 min walk from the Nagoya station. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend staying here!
1) Convenient location. Just a few blocks from the Nagoya Station.
2) Very large locker space.
3) Clean and tidy.
4) Provides new towels, pajama, slipper and tooth brush on every day of your stay.
5) A very nice coffee shop at the entrance of the hotel.
Convenient and comfortable. Walking distance from Nagoya station. Abundance of restaurants and convenient stores nearby. Good hotel amenities and cafe. Very central. The food at the hotel restaurant was good.
The location of the hotel was excellent, close to Nagoya Station and connected by subway. Great place to stay if you intend to take trains to other locations around the area.
The hotel has a good location, few minutes walk from the Nagoya Station. The room is clean (and the bathroom) is clean. I like the firmness of the bed, very comfortable.
Good hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast service with very pleasant staff assistance. Great access to Nagoya station and good food nearby.
