The hotel was in a central location of Kyoto, within walking distance to popular places such as Gion and the Nishiki Market. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, pointing out where to get the best cherry blossoms viewing or even making dinner reservations. The room was huge (we stayed in a triple), particularly after experimenting Tokyo with much smaller rooms. The hotel also offered very convenient parking in the hotel basement for very reasonable price (extra). Breakfast was very generous, both in variety and quantity. We really liked the small gesture of dropping the daily newspapers on our room door.

This 5-star hotel offers 5 dining options and property-wide free WiFi service. Guestrooms offer spacious European interiors with modern furnishings. Each room is equipped with an air purifier/humidifier, a flat-screen TV and a safety deposit box. A mini-fridge, an electric kettle and nightwear is provided. Guests can refresh in spacious bathtub in the contemporary en suite bathroom. A buffet featuring 70 different breakfast items is available at the Café Restaurant Amber Court in the mornings. Tempura dishes and Japanese meals are available at Sagano, while Chinese cuisines are served at Hisuien. Teppanyaki grills are offered at Hoen restaurant. Traditional crafts from Kyoto can be purchased from the souvenir shop on site. Tourist information and various services are offered at the concierge desk.
