Interesting town, much to see, like the TAAF Snake Farm, where I was for a course, the Gede ruins and much more. Good infrastructure, which is not in all coastal towns in Kenya the case. The beach in front of Papa Remo is alone worth going there!

Watamu is beautiful , but unfortunately too touristical for me. Heavily overpriced for Kenya. People who like bust tourist spots will like it though... traditionally many Italians, if you want to avoid those, Watamu is also not your choice

Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal.
Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal. Large Italian population and visitors, so most hotels and resteuraunts are italian owned. Best place to eat and the most jawdropping view is from Ocean Sports.

Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches.
Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches. Restaurants are galore and most really good, although mostly expensive. Among the coastal towns I visited in Kenya and Tanzania, I have come back to Watamu most often. The water is crystal clear, the beach white and not overrun, and the area offers enough activities to not get boring.

Local administration and hoteliers should strive to attract more local tourists. Overdependence on foreigners leads to exaggerated prices in addition to leaving Watamu as a ghost town especially in low season.
We loved staying at Mangrove View, by far the friendliest and most welcoming place since we've been in Kenya for over 8 weeks. The breakfast is delicious and the chef can also provide dinner for a very reasonable price, which is super delicious and highly reccomended. The owner Reimond is very friendly and has lots of local tips and can help you organize tours, transport and more. The communcal area is very social and it's easy to meet fellow travellers here :) Highly reccomend this place to anyone staying in Watamu!
Great central location within a walking distance to a the best watamu beach, restaurants and shops.
The pool area was especially convenient as well as a beautiful garden that the hotel is surrounded with.
Bui, Jay, Joseph and all the other members of the staff were great and always helpful. Owners are very lovely and kind.
Great breakfast was served for us and we also really enjoyed the top terrace.
We extended our stay and stayed for over 20 nights, which speaks for itself that we enjoyed Marijani resort.
The location is amazing! Right by the creek so you can jump for a swim, canoe trip or bird watching.
The staff is the best, super caring and feels just like home- they will take care of everything with huge generosity.
They offer many activities such as cooking classes, building classes & tours of the area.
This place is totally genuine and gives you the real experience of Kenya’s beautiful nature and the great people hosting it.
We stayed in the tents. Loved the feeling of being in our own little forest with monkeys and birds all around. Open air shower is so refreshing. Not a far walk to the most amazing beach. Think its a brilliant idea with different kinds of accommodations available for different budgets and preferences. The Snackbar was wonderful. Stanley and his team really makes amazing food.
The staff was very friendly and willing to assist. The beach was also just steps away from the property as well as the pool and beach towels were provided. There were also some specials guests- the owners dogs! The breakfasts were also very good with fresh baked goods, fresh eggs, and freshly squeezed juice as well as eggs your way.
Located right in front of the seven islands, with it’s private beach next to little shops. The pool is amazing, right temperature and really clean.
Ping pong table, little boutique, nice bar with tables in the shade where we were playing cards.
The buffet restaurant was excellent.
We had everything we needed!
I highly recommend Lala Salama B&B to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Watamu. It is a great value for the price, 2-minute walk to the public beach and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you love rustic furniture then this is the perfect place to stay!
Amazing location with close proximity to Watamu town. It has very welcoming and professional staff. All the meals were great with a good ambience overlooking the beach. I loved the garden; the area was well landscaped with full of well cut grass and palm trees.
Breakfast could have been improved upon. Omelettes were made fresh, but otherwise options were limited in the buffet. Slices of cheese and deli meat.
Pool was stunning with view of the ocean. Beach was beautiful. Great relaxing area of Watamu.
Beautiful coastal themed structures. Incredibly friendly, warm, helpful and competent staff from the start all the way to the end. Beautiful views of the ocean. Beautiful beach and access to it. This was the best hotel experience I have ever had.
What an amazing place right on the beach. Super happy I found it. Brilliant meals and dinners made by the utstanding cook Justice and a green and colorful garden kept wild and splendors by Oscar. Sandy white beaches and 30° water. Paradise
It’s a really nice hotel! The staff is amazing, ready to welcome you and treat you well. A good place to relax: right in front of the beach, another nice pool in the garden with a bar. Restaurant is delicious. Best aperol I ever had!
It's a castle!!! It was an amazing experience.Great host and amazing staff always ready to assist and ensure I was comfortable.
I have found my forever vacation home in Watamu.
Best part was that I made a great and forever friend.!!
Cheap hotel average accommodation but great value for money in a most scenic beach resort. A very popular hotel with many visitors and great atmosphere seems to be well populated by families We definitely would recommend this place.
Everything about the place was amazing, from the host, the location, the facilities, everything. Strategic location allowing access to every beatiful scene Watamu offers.
An amazing place for a getaway stay.
View and private beach were so peaceful. Manager Safari went out of his way to make guests extremely comfortable and have an enjoyable time. Best manager I have ever met.
