The location is central to town centre and many tourist attractions. The staff were helpful with arranging boat tours and taxis and recommending places to visit. The location is serene and the rooms spacious and well kept. This is my new favorite hotel in Kisumu.

VIP lounge restaurant was quite good.
VIP lounge restaurant was quite good. The dj understood the visitors taste. The food at the lounge was good. Night spots around mamba and vundubars were awesome. Yet to go to ndere and other attractions. There should be a shuttle to take visitors to tourist attractions. We need more info about tourist attrctions in Kisumu area.

Kisumu, Kenya, is a vibrant city with a rich cultural tapestry and scenic beauty. Nestled on the shores of Lake Victoria, it's the third-largest city in Kenya and a significant hub in the western region of the country. My experience in Kisumu was highlighted by the warm hospitality of its people, making it a welcoming destination for both business and leisure travelers.
The city's bustling markets, especially the Kibuye Market, offer a glimpse into the local life and an opportunity to purchase unique crafts and fresh produce. A visit to the Kisumu Museum provides insights into the cultural and natural history of the region. The Impala Sanctuary is a must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts, offering a chance to see a variety of animals and bird species in a serene environment.
The lakeside setting of Kisumu presents breathtaking sunsets and opportunities for boat rides on Lake Victoria. The lake's fresh fish is a culinary highlight, with local restaurants serving delicious, freshly caught fish.
Kisumu combines the charm of a growing city with natural beauty and cultural richness, making it an unforgettable destination in Kenya.

The owner or manager Mr Pamalos was not available on check in inspite of him knowing my check out time and date. Later he requested me to pay him online to his bank. My funds were debited from my bank account twice and having chased him for refund, to date after 4 months I am still not paid back and there is no response from him!
I feel this is very untrustworthy and Booking.com must remove them from this website!

You will die of frustration.
You will die of frustration. No one has respect for time and appointments mean absolutely nothing. Toilets have not septic tanks and you will inhale sewer smells especially when it rains. There is no identifiable organic food therefore your diet will extremely suffer. Things are expensive but not worth the cost. Generally is freaking sucks here!

Kisumu is a wonderful big city with a lot of great opportunities for foreign travelers, but you need the knowledge of finding the best place, or be lucky to come at the place where it is friendly for foreigners. The VIC Hotel and the area around it is really wonderful. Nice people, good and different food. But some places in the city are less friendly because just to many local people try to get money from tourists in a not friendly way.

Kisumu is uprated from a town to a city (a small one though). Compares to many other Kenyan towns/cities Kisumu is clean with sidewalks along the roads and well regulated trafic.
Kisumu is completely safe and its proximity to Lake Victoria makes it a perfect place to go on vacation: Shopping, restaurants, music, nature, safaries on Lake Victoria (e.g. to see hippoes!) is possible.
The climate is mild with pleasently high temperatures all year around.
My guess is that links in this text will be removed, but go to YouTube and type "Suzanna Owiyo, Kisumu 100", and you will be in the right mood to travel to Kisumu!
