My stay in Kampot was nothing short of enchanting.
My stay in Kampot was nothing short of enchanting. The town exudes a romantic atmosphere, thanks to its rich French history reflected in the captivating architecture. As a photographer, I found myself captivated by the quaint streets adorned with French-inspired buildings and the iconic tuk-tuks bustling about. It felt like stepping back in time to a bygone era. The abundance of charming cafes and restaurants offered a delightful dilemma of choice, with cuisines ranging from Turkish to Khmer delights. Exploring the riverside and soaking in the vibrant energy of the town was a highlight, though I regret not having enough time to venture to Bokor Mountain. Kampot truly deserves more than just a short visit; it's a place to be savored and explored at leisure.

This is such a lovely place to visit apart from the blatant sex industry that makes much of the nighltlife seedy and uninviting. There are lots of single western middle aged men filling up the bars which made them totally unsuitable for women or couples. Otherwise there are some wonderful places to go, we found some super bars and had incredible meals at Rikitikitavi for Khmer as well as western food (we had 2 meals there, both Khmer, both wonderful) which has a lovely vibe, and Simon's, a bit like a canteen but wonderful paneer curries. Go to Epic Arts Cafe, fantastic food and a social enterprise cafe for children and young people with disabilities, it's amazing. It is clear that Kampot, and indeed Cambodia, has been hit hard by Covid and is still recovering, for example the town's museum has not reopened, so travelling here is going to help hugely, but the rubbish strewn around everywhere is unappealing. The markets are very local and a real insight into Cambodian life. We enjoyed the Kampot pepper farm expereince at La Plantation, the staff were great, it is a socially responsible venture and lunch there was incredible too. Roads are a bit hectic and in places in poor condition but you can see some investment in place for repair works. We still enjoyed exploring the area on a moped. We travelled here in comfort from Phnom Penh with Giant Ibis. We left Kampot to go to Vietnam via Ha Tien which worked well but was far more chaotic and the tiny minibus we were on was very ropey indeed! However, Kampot is an excellent base for the region, shame the train travel is so limited.

I live in Phnom Penh, so Kampot is my short break location of choice. It is just 3 hours by private taxi ($50 each way) and it is a small peaceful riverside town with many nice options for food and relaxation. Some of the hotels have pools but they tend to attract largely families with small children. There are lots of places to explore nearby and can be accessed by tuk-tuk or you can hire a moto. Definitely worth a visit if travelling Cambodia.

Great place to visit to enjoy the area surrounding it.
Great place to visit to enjoy the area surrounding it. Filled with restaurant and bars, super convenient and easy to find anywhere eat or drink for reasonable prices. We stayed centrally but suggest staying slightly farther out, as the central area is easy to walk or get to from across the river and you get more for your money slightly further out -- food and hotels. Not a good place for shopping, the night market was fairly dismal. Kampot is where to go to see wondeful natural sights, enjoy local cycling and the 'real' area, the pepper plantations, or to spring from to do a day trip to Kep.

I've been travelling to Cambodia regularly for nearly 20 years now but only in the last few have I discovered the delights of Kampot. It's a buzzing town with a much nicer atmosphere than the in-your-face brashness of (eg) Siem Reap.
Kampot has a thriving expat community and a smattering of tourists. A wide variety of Khmer and western bars, restaurants and accommodation. Take a walk round the Lotus Pond - a tranquil oasis close to the middle of town - stay until evening and the area transforms into a colourful spendour.
Kampot is a great choice for those looking for a relaxing town break in Cambodia.

Kampot is a fabulous 'travellers hangout' - a bit of an unknown gem! Great bars and restaurants influenced by a growing expat community. Lots of Euro retirees (its very cheap!) and mixed creatives, many who seem to have moved in from Sihanoukville after the Chinese development there went out of control. A 'writers hangout'. Not as touristy as Siem Reap. Many of the locals have settled here from all over Cambodia. A quiet respite from busy Phnom Penh. Kep is also becoming popular just a short drive away. Mt Bokor day trip is A MUST!
The family that runs the Fish Island bungalows is wonderful. They were so helpful with arrangements to go to the border and tours of pepper farm and Kep for crab. We felt so welcome here! They provided some rides into town and a free 1 hour tour of fish island. The bungalows are very charming and natural. We also liked the room with AC where we stayed our second night. The fan in the bungalow also worked well for cooling. We enjoyed the breakfast on offer too. The property is very nicely maintained with gardens and trees.
Super kind and helpful staff, super clean rooms, great wifi--really perfect if you need to work online/stream meetings. I stayed here while my rental in Kampot was having some work done. 100% would stay again. Ice cold a/c. This hotel is next to Psar Thom--the big market in Kampot--so if you want a local experience away from the expat scene that's perhaps 12 blocks walking distance away, this is a perfect pick. Nham 24 can deliver whatever food you need right to the room.
- Clean and specious room, comfortable bed, blackout curtains, hot shower water.
- The amazing, polite and professional hotel staff especially the concierge Mr.Meng Phai who assisted with booking a tour, a bus to Kampot and was very helpful all around. My deepest thanks and appreciation.
- Great location, 7 min walk from the Dorian roundabout, local markets and restaurants
- Very nice hotel restaurant with a Khmer and western dishes.
- Good breakfast menu
The hotel was well presented and the room was very clean. Breakfast was excellent. The owner, William, put us in touch with Mr Phary as Tuk Tuk driver. +855 86 65 03 30. We’d definitely recommend using him. He did a great tour of salt fields, cave and secret lake. Also dropped us at pepper plantation which is definitely worth a visit. Mr Phary also took us to Kep the next day when we hiked in the Kep National Park which was amazing too.
this was the cleanest hotel we've been during our whole SEA trip (comparing it to other hotels in the same price range). the staff is super friendly and speaks english. the restaurant has really delicious food we absolutely recommend! they organized a 1day trip for us with a tuktuk driver and it was the best well organized trip we ever had.
the hotel is very close to the city center, in a quite and safe neighbourhood.
This guesthouse is located outside the busy area of Kampot, but still at a walking distance from it.
The room and its bathroom were clean and functional. The WiFi signal was okay.
The host is a very nice man and he can arrange day tours and transport for your next destination.
Overall, I was satisfied with this guesthouse, definitely recommended.
Very well run, traditional guest house, more homely than a hotel. Laundry service was excellent and ticket booking easy.
Room had everything, fan, aircon, desk ,wardrobe and the bathroom had a good hot shower.
Location, about a 10 minute walk to centre, or minutes on a scooter (available to rent from guesthouse) without leaving your passport 👍
The river view was lovely and the room had a large overlooking balcony and big enough to accommodate a family of four. Location is close enough to town to go for meals (Kampot has great dining). The staff are very helpful to organize Tuk Tuk drivers and/or tours (Bokor Mountain, boat river tour, pepper farm, etc). Restaurant is good too:)
We absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms are beautiful, the restaurant/bar overlooking the river has delicious food and drink and a great vibe. The owners and all the staff are so kind and go above and beyond, even giving us some mosquito spray when we ran out! Definitely the best place we've stayed so far in Cambodia, thank you!
Impeccable decor that is a mixture of old French, colonial Cambodia meets pop culture. Seriously one of the best decorated bars/hôtels I've ever seen. Very clean, beds comfy, has air con. Owners super nice and downstairs bar has great cocktails. Very centrally located. Definitely recommend, with caveats.
New and luxurious hotel in Kampot.
Place feels like a tranquil rainforest and the staff is helpful and friendly in any way.
The manager gave us a warm welcome and we would definitely come back here.
Rooms are large and the beds sleep lovely.
To the town center its only 5 minutes with a tuktuk.
Best Place and Reasonable prices to stay at Kompot province, All amenities very Cleanliness and Amazing staff they help to arrange any destination that we want to explore in Kompot , Highly recommended to all Clients when Visit Kompot please stay at Kampot View Boutique.
Amazing facilities, we had an issue on our first night with a neighbour and the hotel upgraded us to a better room in the Montagne boutique for the rest of our stay, the staff were so friendly and helpful. 2 pools you can use and motorbike rental available.
The hotel is in a quite area of Kampot, but still close to the heart of the city. The room was really nice and big, especially the jungle shower was a highlight!
Location and the free breakfast they provide us. That guy is so so friendly and kind person. Also for new visitors they provide good information about kampot.
It is a brand new hotel. The room was beautiful with an outdoor bath and spacious bathroom. The swimming pool was very nicely done and kept very clean.
