Quaint little laid back town with really nice French...
Quaint little laid back town with really nice French colonial architecture. The promenade on the riverside is beautifully lined with trees. A lot of nature and amazing views of the river and the hills. A nice short trip getaway from the hustle & bustle of Phnom Penh.
Day one - Spectacular sunset in front of the river while sipping a drink.
Day two - Enjoyed the tour I took of the pepper plantation, the cave, salt fields and Kep seaside. I ended the day with a sumptuous Portuguese dinner at Tertulia by the river. This place is a bit away from the center.
Day three - had a fun and educational Khmer cooking lessons at the Kampot Seafood & Pepper restaurant. The ladies over there were so sweet, nice and patient with me, trying to learn 3 courses. It was very well worth it.
I wish I stayed longer! Will definitely be back soon!

My stay in Kampot was nothing short of enchanting.
My stay in Kampot was nothing short of enchanting. The town exudes a romantic atmosphere, thanks to its rich French history reflected in the captivating architecture. As a photographer, I found myself captivated by the quaint streets adorned with French-inspired buildings and the iconic tuk-tuks bustling about. It felt like stepping back in time to a bygone era. The abundance of charming cafes and restaurants offered a delightful dilemma of choice, with cuisines ranging from Turkish to Khmer delights. Exploring the riverside and soaking in the vibrant energy of the town was a highlight, though I regret not having enough time to venture to Bokor Mountain. Kampot truly deserves more than just a short visit; it's a place to be savored and explored at leisure.

This is such a lovely place to visit apart from the blatant sex industry that makes much of the nighltlife seedy and uninviting. There are lots of single western middle aged men filling up the bars which made them totally unsuitable for women or couples. Otherwise there are some wonderful places to go, we found some super bars and had incredible meals at Rikitikitavi for Khmer as well as western food (we had 2 meals there, both Khmer, both wonderful) which has a lovely vibe, and Simon's, a bit like a canteen but wonderful paneer curries. Go to Epic Arts Cafe, fantastic food and a social enterprise cafe for children and young people with disabilities, it's amazing. It is clear that Kampot, and indeed Cambodia, has been hit hard by Covid and is still recovering, for example the town's museum has not reopened, so travelling here is going to help hugely, but the rubbish strewn around everywhere is unappealing. The markets are very local and a real insight into Cambodian life. We enjoyed the Kampot pepper farm expereince at La Plantation, the staff were great, it is a socially responsible venture and lunch there was incredible too. Roads are a bit hectic and in places in poor condition but you can see some investment in place for repair works. We still enjoyed exploring the area on a moped. We travelled here in comfort from Phnom Penh with Giant Ibis. We left Kampot to go to Vietnam via Ha Tien which worked well but was far more chaotic and the tiny minibus we were on was very ropey indeed! However, Kampot is an excellent base for the region, shame the train travel is so limited.

I live in Phnom Penh, so Kampot is my short break location of choice. It is just 3 hours by private taxi ($50 each way) and it is a small peaceful riverside town with many nice options for food and relaxation. Some of the hotels have pools but they tend to attract largely families with small children. There are lots of places to explore nearby and can be accessed by tuk-tuk or you can hire a moto. Definitely worth a visit if travelling Cambodia.

Great place to visit to enjoy the area surrounding it.
Great place to visit to enjoy the area surrounding it. Filled with restaurant and bars, super convenient and easy to find anywhere eat or drink for reasonable prices. We stayed centrally but suggest staying slightly farther out, as the central area is easy to walk or get to from across the river and you get more for your money slightly further out -- food and hotels. Not a good place for shopping, the night market was fairly dismal. Kampot is where to go to see wondeful natural sights, enjoy local cycling and the 'real' area, the pepper plantations, or to spring from to do a day trip to Kep.

I've been travelling to Cambodia regularly for nearly 20 years now but only in the last few have I discovered the delights of Kampot. It's a buzzing town with a much nicer atmosphere than the in-your-face brashness of (eg) Siem Reap.
Kampot has a thriving expat community and a smattering of tourists. A wide variety of Khmer and western bars, restaurants and accommodation. Take a walk round the Lotus Pond - a tranquil oasis close to the middle of town - stay until evening and the area transforms into a colourful spendour.
Kampot is a great choice for those looking for a relaxing town break in Cambodia.
the personnel is welcoming, breakfast is really tasty, always clean rooms and nice refreshing swimming pool. everything is in walkable distance from the hotel. They helped us with motorbike rent and different info about
things in the region, so we have enjoyed the province beautiful and interesting sights at its max, and thanks for useful advices like taking a jacket with us to Kulen mountain it was really chilly to go on a bike there and without it we would definitely get sick❤️
Great staff who was terribly helpful, especially the owner who was very attentive and kind.
I chose this hotel mainly because of the location, away from the crowd of the touristy spots near the riverside yet still central and convenient for travel agencies and bus offices (Vibol/Virak Buntham is 3 minutes away). The window view of the park with locals doing exercise at sunset was nice!
The room was new and very nicely decorated with a nice colour scheme.
Brand new boutique hotel that has only been open a few months. Perfect location- a 10 minute walk across the bridge into the centre but much more preferable to be staying in a quieter area. Rooms are spacious and spotless.
Breakfast is included with a range of options- the only thing we didn’t really like was the plain pancake- choose something else!
The owners are lovely and friendly and very helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily on request.
We had a wonderful stay here. The room was clean and well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Staff was excellent. Location can't be beat - just steps away from the Durian roundabout and a wide selection of amazing restaurants. We rented scooters directly from the hotel and they were great! We ended up extending our stay for an extra night because we loved Kampot so much. Would highly recommend!
The staff is the best ever! Super professional, competent and helpful to find the best way to enjoy Kampot and always happy to drop you in the city center whenever you like. The rooms are very spacious, new and clean, and also the bathroom. The pool is big and wonderful, surrounded by nature. The location is quiet and peaceful, and also perfect to explore the province. Breakfast yummy and healthy!
The hotel had many spaces and I felt very welcomed as always. It has had quite a few new renovations like the new rooftop gym and even though it was holiday period, all my needs were attended to. I love this guesthouse. The hospitality is something you can experience for yourself and can't be judged so well from a rank number on the internet. That is why I returned here. Thank you again Nomads.
An exceptional hotel and very nice staff, It's just a couple of metres from the Riverside...a new hotel with an elevator, clean spacious rooms with street balcony..top floor bar overlooking Kampot and the River is beautiful at night..food was lovely...very nice central location and you can hire scooters from the hotel...The Park Inn is a little gem and well priced...definitely will stay again
Beautiful and unique property. Room was big, comfortable and nicely appointed. The hotel's owners and managers were extremely welcoming and kind. They were very helpful and informative and arranged tours and transfers for us in no time. This was my first time in Kampot and I left wishing to stay longer. Definitely recommend La Java Bleue for your stay in Kampot.
Hello, I have finally returned home after my five week trip I would like to send my warmest thank you to Yourself & Staff for your hospitably that I received while staying at the Old Cinema Hotel. I was treated so well and I will definitely stay with you on my next trip to Kampot Thank you once again Peter
Wonderful rooms and a great restaurant. The included breakfast is generous and tasty. Lunch and dinner are so good it’s tough to leave to go to other restaurants in town. Happy hour is two for one but the best thing about the bar is a wonderful selection of malt whisky’s. Please stay here when in Kampot.
The hotel has been recently built so everything js new and super clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly with a good level of english. The location is nice but a bit far from town however the ladys working can arrange for motobike hire and or call for a tuktuk.
This place is absolutely amazing. The tree houses are dreamy, the staff is extremely nice and the on-site restaurant is one of the best (if not the best) in town. They also offer tours around Kampot and Kep for very reasonable price. Do not think twice about booking.
Hotel was clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Very good location close to town. Rooms made up when requested. Good motorbike rental at fair prices. Can book onward tickets. Very good value for money and very easy and welcoming place to stay. Quiet part of town.
Very spacious and light room with panoramic view over the city and nice balcony. The kingsize bed.is comfortable. The shower is lovely, lots of hot water.
Staff speaks English and arranged a motorbike for us and the next day a tuk-tuk to take us to Kep.
Very comfortable, modern hotel with good facilities for a great price. Centrally located too in what is a compact town (Kampot). The Khmer side of the food menu was exceptional also; as a foreigner who's lived here for years, it was impressive.
The staff are friendly. They have noise policy: no music after 10pm. Normally, people would bring their own speaker to Kampot and play music until late. The policy help reducing the noise pollution a lot. I manage to get good sleep after 10pm.
Nice basic guesthouse in a quiet area only 8min walk from the riverside and where all the action is. Nice owners. Great beds, very comfortable. For the price, this place was perfect for our few nights in Kampot.
Beautiful boutique hotel right in the center of Kampot. Wonderful warm welcome, felt at home. Uniquely decorated rooms, loved the historical touch and the Khmer influence
