A cultural eye-opener.
A cultural eye-opener. Lots to see and do - but most major attractions are spread far from one another. Expect to take a couple full days touring Kandy and the surrounding areas. Two of my strongest recommendations: the British Was Cemetery. The caretaker has tended the graveyard for decades and knows each detail about each soul laid to rest. Also a sight worth seeing is Peradeniya University. A remarkable campus that lives up to its reputation as one of the nicest in all of South Asia.

The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit.
The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit. I didn't interested to see the famous temple and another one important thing is in commuting hours the traffic jam was remarkable and every one should calculate staying in the traffic in their schedule .

Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie.
Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie. Ella, Sigriya, Dambulla and Polonaruwa. Gateway to mountainous region of Sri Lanka. Kandy is also a historical town with famous Temple of Tooth. This town is best served with affordable eateries and several modes of transportation. Cooler weather compared to the Sri Lankan capital city, Colombo.

beautiful scenery, friendly people, gem stores, shopping malls - overall a good city.
Sometimes heavy traffic.

We have been to Kandy a number of times before, this time it was just a break in the train journey.
It is a big varied city with lots to do and see. The attractions are very well advertised and and tuk tuk or taxi driver will want to take you there.
We like the end of the lake with the hills and the temple.
The hotel is very fresh and clean. Can straight away notice the entrance from the street. The location is close to the main places you want to visit in Kandy. Just around the corner.
The room was comfy, tidy, and had everything we needed. We took the room with the small pool outside - was great and refreshing during the hot days to get back and jump in.
Bonus - one of the rear places you can get good coffee from Illy.
Breakfast was good with Sri Lankan and Western options - more than enough to choose from to start your day.
A little bit hard to find the place but after we got there we didn't want to go anywhere else. All the rooms have mountain views from balconies. Actually the hotel is on the mountain. Nice and cool , no need for aircon. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The beds are big and comfortable. The owner cooked delicious Sri Lanka dinners for us a lot of variety. Breakfast was combined western and local food with fruits.
A very pleasant and exceptional establishment. Highly recommend it to anyone who comes to Kandy.
One of the best hotels we've stayed in the entire Sri Lanka trip. The views are Breathtaking! The staff is extremely sweet and polite. Food is exceptional. They have a jacuzzi at the top which has the best scenic landscape to sit back and relax. They even upgraded our room and it was every bit worth the money. Rooms are spacious and comfy. Views from the balcony are too good. Their mini golf area is cute too. Perfect place to go to if you want a break from the city and enjoy in peace. Will definitely be going back!
I will say this is the best place I have stay in Sri Lanka, if you ever gonna visit Kandy. This place is the best choice for no doubt
It’s not in the heart of the town so it’s pretty quiet, you won’t hear any annoying honks from the town
The hosts are super friendly, they serve cup of Ceylon tea with cookies on arrival it was soooo nice with the view of the place, and the place is clean, comfortable and the home made Sri Lankan breakfast also really good. I will defo book the same place when I visit Kandy again
We are a Norwegian couple. We stayed at Kandy Hills for 5 nights.
The hotel is very clean, and the rooms are spacious and luxurious. They also have room service.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. They helped us book train tickets, arrange transports and plan our trip for the rest of our stay in Sri Lanka.
The view from our room was amazing. The area is peacefull, yet very close to downtown. We walked to City Center many times.
Will absolutely recommend. Best hotel in Kandy and very good value for money.
Tenthola Inn is one of the best places I stayed at in Sri Lanka. The view from the large balcony where guests mingle and relax is just spectacular. The rooms opening up to the balcony all have a spectacular view and are very comfortable. I enjoyed breakfasts and dinners at Tenthola prepared by the owners wife, who is an outstanding cook. Viper aka Edwin, the owner is super helpful and a treasure trove of stories and information as it relates to Kandy and Sri Lanka. I can highly recommend Tenthola.
Everything was great.
Spacious cozy rooms, breathtaking Mountain View, amazing host. Monkeys were fun to observe :)
The flat is equipped with everything you need, if you need anything extra (things, advice, help, hints&tips), feel free to ask Raj, he’s hospitable beyond imaginable.
Best host in Sri Lanka (and he speaks good English, which is rare here).
Thanks a lot, only warm memories of our stay. If you want to have the best experience in Kandy, look no further.
If you are going to Kandy you have to stay here! The location is perfect for basing yourself in the centre with most places just a short walk away. The rooms are modern and very clean which had been sanitized before our stay. This is a family run hotel and the owner (I forgot her name so sorry) is probably one of the nicest people we met during our time in Sri Lanka, she was so helpful and friendly and just great to talk to in general!
Location is 10/10! Right on the Main Street lots of action. Balcony was great for people watching. Walking distance to everything in Kandy. Restaurants galore. Close to shopping mall. Staff is super friendly. Pool was great. Breakfast was really nice too, served in the restaurant below. Rooms are spacious decorated authentic. Very clean. Rooftop bar and food was such a nice addition !! One of our best stays in Sri Lanka. Enjoy Kandy!
This property is a lovely 'oasis' in Kandy and provides a relaxing and very comfortable stay with stunning mountain views. Its in is a quiet location near the town centre where you can enjoy the homely environment. The breakfast and dinner options available are superior to local restaurants and the owner/staff are lovely and provide good advice on places to visit in the area. This was the best homestay on our Sri Lanka holiday.
Rooms are very clean.
Bathroom was exceptional. Good water pressure and didn't take long for hot water to click.
Staff was very helpful and made my stay easy and comfortable.
Location was great as it is in the middle of the Kandy city and you can walk to shops and temple of tooth.
I also went to Bahirawakanda by tuk tuk and it's very short distance from the hotel too.
This hotel is one of the best hotels I stayed in Sri Lanka.
This hotel is very close to the Temple and the lake and right in Kandy.
All the double rooms were very clean and we had a nice balcony room.
The reception staff and breakfast staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly.
The top floor bar was excellent, air conditioned and two balconies.
Breakfast was buffet style with some traditional Sri Lankan food.
Better than the photos..very traditional hotel room at world standard..clean, comfortable, tv, tea coffee, fridge..great pool..you forget you are in Sri Lanka! The staff were just lovely. Stayed here as it's close to the Botanic Gardens not a tourist area real food, real life, real Kandy!
Jaye's homestay features cozy rooms with great view on Kandy town. The host is very helpful with advice and even lended us some utencils. You get option of Sri lankan and english breakfast and I recommend to take the Sri Lankan because it is delicious. with a lot of local fruit
The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was nice, spacious, and clean, and had a beautiful view of Kandy. The food was actually some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kandy.
The location is great, just a seeing distance from the Lake Round in Kandy. The hotel is located in a serene environment & the rooms were very clean. The staff is friendly too.
The rooms were very spacious and clean! The staff was super helpful and the Sri Lankan breakfast tasted good! One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka.
