Mahagedera "Dream Villa" is a Magical place, it is also a home so has a very warm & welcoming atmosphere. The 130 year Old Dutch colonial Villa was the first house to be built in the village hence the name "Mahagedera" which means "First House". The house still possesses many of it's original features including the Terracotta roof tiles, Stable doors & wooden window shutters, Grand Pillars on the Verandas & a fully functioning self sufficient Sri Lankan Traditional Kitchen. The House is set in large gardens & surrounded by countryside & the Gintota Pumping Station proving 24h security. There are numerous Coconut Palms, Bananna, Mango, Jackfruit & Papaya trees & we often have Monkeys frequent the Gardens. There is an onsite caretaker & meals can be ordered on extra payment (Please note that the room price does not include meal charges). Hegoda is a typical quiet Rural Village.The local people are friendly & helpful & I consider it to be a "safe" place to explore. Mahagedera "Dream Villa" is surrounded by Beautiful Paddy Fields & countryside. There are 3 Buddhist Temples which you can visit on this road one of which is situated next door. The Gintota River runs through providing fantastic scenery & wildlife including Mokeys, Water Buffalo, Monitor Lizards & many varieties of Birds including Peacocks. There is a Bus stop at the end of the driveway with buses frequenting every half an hour going directly to Galle or changing at the Main road junction for Hikkadua & Northern stops. There are several local shops & stores that are only 5 mins walk away including the infamous Kothu & Rothi shops for Takeaways. Boossa Beach & Bara Beach Bar & Grill is only 10 minute ride away & you can hear the waves from here at night. Galle Town is only 25 mins away with the bustling local shops & also the infamous Dutch Colonial Fort Area & Lighthouse.
