Daugavpils is not a huge city, but for 1 or 2 days it surely has its charme. The city centre's architecture is quite picturesque, and don't miss out on the churches and the synagogue. (It is worth sending an e-mail and asking for a visit, even though the guide's English is a bit rusty. Nevertheless a very positive experience.) Also, you must visit the old fortress (take tram no. 3).

You have to see the geographic map of Daugavpils to understand its traditional significance as a city that connects four major cities in the region - the city has everything you need - and all in few minutes walking from each other - and if you compare the prices with that of RIGA - well minus 40% easily.. You will enjoy this place

I wish we had more time in Daugavpils!
I wish we had more time in Daugavpils! The city center is wonderfully renovated and reminds me of Liepaja, Riga and St Petersburg all at the same time. The whole city is an eclectic mix of tsarist barracks and typical Soviet houses. The center is walkable and has several great restaurants and cafes to enjoy, as well as green parks to cool off in the summer heat. Try to visit the fortress if you can, and enjoy Daugava's twists and turns around Daugavpils.

There is not much to do in winter time in Daugavpils.
There is not much to do in winter time in Daugavpils. However, many people visiting their parents and friends during Christmas and New Eve and usually silent city becomes more lively. Lazy walks, simple excursions, occasional lunches and coffee breaks, cinemas which run movies in Russian. Daugavpils holds an impressive heritage of architecture presented by building from IX-X. Fortress is just amazing! Rothko art museum is very interesting. For ghost cities fans, recommend to visit former Chemical fibers manufacture.

Unexpected and not much recommended in tour guides.
Unexpected and not much recommended in tour guides. However Daugavpils is worth visiting! Make sure to visit the fort, it's immense and it's something else. Quite some history. Try to check out the history of Daugavpils as well, it's interesting with huge Russian influences. Nowadays it's refererred to as Little Russia (so we heard) and it certainly has the vibe. You have to like it, it's a little rough around the edges.
Unfortunately we only had a short day there and only went to the Fort. That being said, that alone is already worth the effort.

I like the city.
I like the city. I think, I will go for weekend a second time.
I rekommend you to make a walk in Daugavpils castle (latvian- Cietoksnis)! Walk to Dubrovin's park and Dubrovin monument.
Look for a nice architecture of end ot 19.th century and begining of 20th century in the city center.
Take a tram and go to Stropi lake public beach and promenade. (Now, at the end of 2019 year, there are some very nice historic trams, abot 40 years old. It operates on the 3th line from Castle to Stropi lake. Like a museum tram in city traffic.)
Out of all the places I stayed in Latvia this was easily the nicest/best apartment. I loved that it’s very clean, very modern, all the appliances and decorations are new. This place has the best shower in Latvia and an amazing bathroom. The host was very helpful and accommodating, they are really nice people. I will only stay in this place when I visit Daugavpils. I would recommend this place to anyone, it will easily fit 2 couples comfortably as they have a pull out couch in the living room. 11/10
Very clean, very modern. Amazing location, only 2/3 minutes from the main hotel and the city centre. Next to a lovely park. shops are very close by. there is an amazing restaurant called Gubernator(number 1 restaurant in Daugavpils according to trip advisor) the restaurant is literally 10-20metres from the front door. is soo convenient. the host was very friendly and accommodating. I will try to stay at this place again when I’m coming back in October. This place is perfect for one or two people.
It is a very good hotel. Lovely design with attention to detail (planes and pilot theme), super clean, friendly and professional staff. Good breakfast (herring, pickles, bread, cheese, bacon, cereals, eggs, veggies, cakes, coffee and juice) - in my opinion everyone can find something for their taste. Location is good - center is in a walkable distance. Parking is appreciated. Overall, can recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again.
The staff was very polite and kind. The room was tiny but clean and nice, seemed to be ok to spend one night.
It was quiet during the night. The bed could have been bigger because we were two adults and a baby, but it was soft and very clean, neat.
The breakfast (included in the price) was simple but very delicious. A lot of options to choose from.
We would definitely return to this hotel when visiting Daugavpils the next time.
- Modern, clean, and excellent condition room
- Coffee and tea, and a bottle of water in room
- Hotel is right next to the train station, and on the edge of the city center, in walking distance to many restaurants and shops
- Spa access is included in the room price from 9 to 11 AM. They have a nice swimming pool, a sauna, a steam room and a changing and shower area.
Apartament was clean with all facilities. Excellent location, next to main tourist street, close to all attractions - we got everywhere by foot. Best restaurants (Skovorotka and Papa Sushi) round the corner. We liked Daugavpils a lot, we were to some attractions, but the best one was - Skrošu Fabrika - Must see in Daugavpils!!! Best guides!
Friendly personal in the reception. Relative good WiFi. If you are lucky, can get parking space behind hotel, but it just for 6 -7 cars in the darkness, otherwise you must leave car on the street in the front of the hotel. I do not know where is more safety. Location of the hotel is relative close to food shop and fast food restaurant.
Everything was really good and facilities are so good , very calm and pleasant environment , and the staff was really warm and good people , if someone interesting to go daugavpils highly recommend this place to stay ❤️
It's a really nice small hotel in the city center. The staff was very nice and polite and the breakfast was really good. Bed was comfortable and thankfully the room had an A/C (it was really hot outside).
Hotel is located in the very heart of the town, walking distance to everything. Nevertheless, quiet. Comfortable clean room. Friendly staff. Good and stable internet.
