Tangier is often described as the face of Morocco and is a city full of mystery and natural beauty. Its close proximity to the foot of Europe makes it a popular stopover and day trip for cruise boat travellers and tourists visiting Spain.
If you’re planning a day of sightseeing ensure to visit the Musée d'Art Contemporain de la Ville de Tanger, The Kasbah Museum, Grand Socco, and the lively souks, which are filled with a variety of spices, foods and fashion.
Tangier has a vibrant nightlife and a cosmopolitan and cultural vibe. The vibe is reflected in the cafés, bars and restaurants located across the beachfront and along the narrow streets lining The Kasbah, Mercado and Medina.
Hercules Cave is located 14 km from the city centre and is ideal for a day trip, afterwards you can enjoy some of the best coastal views Tangier has to offer with a visit to the Mnar Park aquatic park.
Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport offers direct flights to major cities such as Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and Amsterdam. Booking.com offers a range of accommodation throughout Morocco.
Tangier is off the beaten path for tourists. The old section was busy and the vendors are willing to bargain. It still has an older airport but for the little town they were adequate. The hotel arranged for a larger taxi and the drivers were fluent in French but not so much English. It was a laid back time with no one begging. The city had plain clothed police in the tourist areas but it was kind of cute because they were in plain clothes but had a red arm band stating they were police.

We traveled during Ramadam (on a budget) so most cafes were closed during the day, except those in heavy tourist areas, but this meant less tourists, so all in all a positive experience. The water was turned off in the Medina on two of the four mornings we were there, so I would recommend staying outside the Medina but close to it. Small dars and riads have steep stairs and no elevators so not a great option for everyone, but they have the most charm and hospitality. The Kasbah area is very nice with beautiful views.

Tangier has a special place in my heart!
Tangier has a special place in my heart! I've made so much realisations here. Indeed, a beautiful and warm place with such hospitality can help those people struggling with their mental health to realign their aspirations in life and eventually open themselves up to the rest of the world. I might not have been to a lot of places in Tangier due to short stay, the tranquility of this place helped me a lot more than any of my stay elsewhere. This is not just a holiday for me, it was a precious set of memories amongst a sea of negativities I am facing everyday that I will hold on to, to reach a better place not just for myself, though it seems like a selfish way of indulgence in the eyes of many which they would never understand.
Thank you

I love Tangier, it was the highlight of my stay in Morocco.
I love Tangier, it was the highlight of my stay in Morocco. It was beautiful, I felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie. The only downside was the parking was not free as advertised in the apartment listing and we had to pay.

Tangier was a great stop on our trip through Morocco.
Tangier was a great stop on our trip through Morocco. We visited the Caves of Hercules and spent most of our time wandering the streets of the medina. Great food and ambiance, with a relaxing chill vibe.
The breakfast was the best I had in Morocco, replete with a resident tortoise which saunters around surprising me as I ate. The upper terraces had fantastic views of the harbour and the medina. The rooms and whole dar have an 1930s - 1950s feel of Tangier from a racier era. African themed prints, art, b&w photos, high ceilings, old mivie posters add to the ambience.
The rooms are good sized with separate sleeping and sitting areas. The location is in the Kasbah near the museum of Mediterranean cultures and the petit and grand solos.
staff is very helpful and friendly, gave best recommendations about Tangier. location is also very convenient if you want to stay in Medina. Marina Tanja Bay is only 15mins walk from here so easy to keep chilling out till late night. Breakfast at the rooftop with great views was the best thing to start the day. 24 hours reception was a great advantage for any questions we had and super early check out. It’s a 3mins walk from the main square as the car cannot go on the inner streets so be mindful of taking heavy luggage for the trip.
Dar Nour was so authentic Tangier old medina with crazy winding alleyways , white stucco walls, narrow stairs, roof decks and authentically decorrations . Much attention is paid to detail in the furnishing, artwork, books and other nick nacks. It felt a little like a visit to a museum but the room was very comfortable. The staff were super helpful and arranged a taxi on arrival and departure. But the best thing was the dinner, the roof top dinning and bar was delightful and so picturest. The chef is a good as they say.
I had booked a Deluxe Double, facing the Marina, and when we arrived, they had upgraded us to a suite! It was spotless and lovely. The bed was comfy, and they had soft pillows, unlike the bricks at most Moroccan hotels.
The hotel decor is stunning, and it smells amazing. It has all the amenities and is a short walk to the Medina or anywhere else you'd like to visit in Tangier.
The hotel is clean and modern, with a great view of the sea. It is on the northern edge of the medina, and so is close to the main tourist attractions, as well as a 25 min walk from the city beach. There is a nice balcony to relax and have a beer / coffee on and watch the sea. The staff are helpful (though not available 24 hours).
An exceptional experience unfolds as the door opens, revealing the mesmerizing beauty of Tangier’s historic Medina. Every amenity is within easy reach, evoking a sense of stepping back in time. The courteous and attentive staff, particularly Soukaina and Meriam, stand out for their exceptional service and hospitality
With a beautiful view on the port of Tangier, this old palace is also close to the Medina. The decor is sumptuous; this is why this hotel is called a museum ! The staff is welcoming and helpful .
Breakfast is correct , with the possibility of sitting at the lovely terrace with the view on the port and the bay .
The staff was very kind and helpful, even helping us to arrange our taxi to the airport. The location within the Medina, while a bit difficult to find, is great for experiencing the best sights within Tangier. The rooftop terrace was a lovely space to meet fellow travelers and relax and enjoy the views of the city.
The view from the room was good and the location was great. A very classic Moroccan hotel with a long history. An easy walk to the Medina and the Tangier Ville Port. The front desk staff was very friendly and able to answer all of our questions in English. It was a fine stay for just one night.
We like to stay in diafa they are so accommodating. The owner is nice and kind. The place is cozy and clean.Walking distance to medina and the beach. If i have a chance to go back again in Tangier I will stay again there.thank you!

my favorite hotel I stayed in Morocco! the owners were amazing and some of the nicest people I’ve ever met and they even give you a book of Tangier right when you get there. Highly recommend this place. The rooftop is also an amazing place to chill at.
Breakfast delicious, welcome basket of fruit and nuts was a lovely surprise, Mohamed and Abdula at reception were very helpful, the hotel is walking distance to Medina and Kaspah, taxi for airport arrived in timely way. Thank you for everything!
Well located and keeping a Moroccan ambiance, El Minzah hotel is a perfect choice in between the Medina and the contemporary city, friendly team taking care of their guests with a number of equipments that will make your stay much pleasant.
Excellent location in the medina. I mostly enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel staff. The hotel manager, Samad, is very kind, helpful, and has a warm smile. The views from the terrace are also amazing.
the location, the people the experience was all exceptional. The hotel décor, staff, food and location was the best introduction to our first visit to Africa/Morocco.
Marvelous breakfast with variety, perfect service. Excellent straits view from the room, best location to explore Tangier. Staff is the best in Morocco.
