Merzouga is a small village located in southeastern Morocco, known for its stunning sand dunes and as a gateway to the Sahara Desert. It is a popular tourist destination for those looking to experience the beauty and mystique of the desert.
One of the main attractions in Merzouga is the expansive Erg Chebbi dunes, where visitors can partake in activities such as camel trekking, sandboarding, and camping under the stars. Watching the sunrise or sunset over the dunes is a breathtaking experience that many visitors cherish.
The village itself offers a glimpse into traditional Berber culture, with its mud-brick buildings and friendly locals. Visitors can explore the village on foot, interact with the residents, and sample local cuisine in the various restaurants and cafes.
Merzouga is also a popular starting point for longer desert excursions, where visitors can trek deep into the Sahara on camelback or in 4x4 vehicles, staying in traditional desert camps along the way. These excursions offer a more immersive experience of the desert landscape and its nomadic way of life.
Overall, Merzouga is a magical destination that offers a unique blend of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural experiences for travelers seeking a memorable desert escapade in Morocco.

We did the one night tour with the camel treck, staying in the luxury camp, and it was amazing. Everything was perfectly organised, Hassan was very helpful and every step of the tour was a pleasure, and the people involved were nice and accommodating. We also had a room for us to wait before the tour start and afterwards when we came back. Booking was quick and simple and everything went smoothly. Highly recommended

We did eat at Kasba Planet Sahara, Food was great, local, well prepared by the lady cook, just a bit too big portions :):):) Excellent!
Outdoor meal was in the desert - grill - local type - wow, we all enjoyed!
Additionally, was easy to walk arround and to have a drink in some local caffee shops - very nice.
Avoid ..!? to short stay to avoid anything, just add few more days.

Merzouga is a desert town principally set up to offer a desert experience and trips into the Sahara. There are limited food and 'tourist' shops and a number of restauarants (although we didn't use these). Our hosts at Auberge Les Roches catered for all our needs and desert experience.

The highlight of my stay was definitely the camel ride into the desert. The views were breathtaking and the experience was one I'll never forget. The hotel also arranged for a delicious dinner under the stars, which was the perfect end to a perfect day.
We had an amazing time at the Amazing Luxury Camp. We took a beautiful afternoon camel ride to get there. The camp extended a warm welcome to us. The heating inside the tent kept the tents warm. To truly enjoy the desert experience, I highly recommend staying for two nights, as we did. We went sandboarding (free boards are available in the camp) and took a quad ride, which was scheduled through the camp. Good food and a beautiful lunch location atop a dune. I would heartily suggest this opulent desert camp.
We had a Bivouac evening with friends at merzouga luxury desert africa camp and what can we say?? It was more than perfect! A warm welcome, very friendly staff and ultra-clean bivouacs, and the apotheosis, the delicious dinner served with great care. We were treated to a magnificent, truly unforgettable stay in the middle of the beautiful dunes in absolute calm and very relaxing. I recommend 1000% for those looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience and impeccable service.
There is no doubt that this is a fantastic location to pick for your stay in the desert. It is a nice camp with wonderful hosts, good cuisine, and clean cabins and toilets. The staff is really welcoming. They provide a full-day Jeep trip, which we also took. The majority of them will allow you to climb the desert dunes in addition to visiting all the major sites! In the middle of the desert, they also prepared a delicious lunch.
Highly recommend merzouga Sahara luxury camp
This desert camp is magical, what a fun and pleasant experience! The camp with the food, beds, bathrooms clean, food, fireplace with drummers/ singing/ dancing, camels, sandboarding, the night sky, meeting people from all over the world... All of it was amazing! Youssef was our guide and took great care of us from the start to the end! He was a great driver, knowledgeable of Morocco, communicated well, and took care of everything.
Best experience in Morocco. If you are going to the desert, you want a once in a lifetime experience, which is what we had at Tiziri.
Lovely, hospitable and polite staff, who make you feel welcome and at home.
Delicious gourmet Moroccan food, under the stars.
5 star rooms with private showers and toilets. The bed was more comfortable than our hotels.
We stayed two nights and can safely say we wish we stayed longer.
Our journey through Merzouga reached its pinnacle with a stay at this luxury camp. The seamless blend of traditional Berber hospitality and modern amenities was a testament to the camp's commitment to excellence. Waking up to the sunrise over the dunes and indulging in starlit dinners made our desert retreat an extraordinary adventure, and we left with hearts full of gratitude for this unparalleled experience
We loved our stay at Original Luxury Camp ! The staff was very friendly and they prepared us the best breakfast and dinner with candles. We had un unforgettable experience watching the stars by the fire place at night! The tents are clean and have an amazing interior decoration. Just be prepared for the long drive to Merzouga and keep in mind that this is still desert, so the luxury is subjective.
This was the highlight of our trip to the desert. The food was the best meal we’ve had in Morocco so far, and dinner was followed by a drum circle where the staff were energetic and inclusive about getting the guests to participate. The tour guides for the camels and the hotel staff were fantastic, super welcoming and kind. The “tents”(definitely glamping) were spacious. Definitely recommend.
My night in a Merzouga desert camp was nothing short of magical. The camp setup was comfortable and provided all the necessary amenities. Riding camels through the golden sands as the sun dipped below the horizon was surreal. Sleeping under a canopy of stars in the desert sky was an experience I’ll cherish forever. A must-do for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
Exceptional doesn't begin to describe our time at this luxury camp in Merzouga. The attention to detail in the camp's design, from the plush furnishings to the gourmet dining under the stars, exceeded our expectations. The warmth of the staff and their dedication to creating a personalized experience made this stay a highlight of our journey through Morocco."
We lived the desert experience that we had been searching for for a long time, and now we have achieved it.
Thank you Merzouga Lovely Camp for everything.
We spent an amazing experience in the desert of Morocco, We had a luxury tent in this camp, The activities was perfect . Camel riding & Excursion 4×4 & Quad bikes. Our stay was perfect .
All the comfort one needs in the middle of the desert. Host and his stuff are super friendly people who are there to provide you with all what you need. It is a must visit place in Morocco especially if you are looking for more then just touristic attraction and want to get to know more about life of local people of Merzouga desert.
The night in magical berber camp was an amazing experience. Every element was fantastic and helped, the sunset camel ride and atv, the best food in Morocco and even lessons in desert drumming. The prevate tent was as good as any hotel room and the stars at night were amazing to watch. I would recommend this camp to everybody!
How much I hate spending another night, or even 3 this time, in the middle of the desert in Merzouga, sleeping outside (even if the bivouacs were luxury and available) and contemplating this beautiful starry sky like never before!!! ride a camel and enjoy the sunrise and sunset......it was a unique experience,
It was super pure experience, like the desert should be. But pure with commodity as well. The tangine is the best I have tried in the whole Morocco, highly recommend! Lhou is the kindest and most honest host I’ve met in Morocco, I am very grateful to him. Definitely if I go back to Merzouga I’m coming here!!
Everything, very beautiful hotel with desert view. The pool is a great surplus.
Ali (the owner) is very friendly and tries to help the customer as much as possible. He even offered transportation to bus station very early in the morning. 100% I will return if I will come again to Merzouga. Thanks Ali!! 😁
