Fort de France was a very nice place to visit in Martinique.
Fort de France was a very nice place to visit in Martinique. We stayed at a nice hotel the first 2 days we were there. Unfortunately, I reserved a hotel room at Maison Clementine where the owner overcharged me by 100 euros!!! Keep away from that place.

We went to St. Anne and to St.
We went to St. Anne and to St. Pierre on tours and enjoyed both. The fish market was small, and the other markets were very much like other tourist markets. We walked during the day and it was easy to get around.

Like any other cities in the world, Fort de France is crowded with cars, people, shops, restaurants. It's relatively clean I must say. Perfect for solo or couple travellers. Not if you have kids to stay in this area.

Very good public transport system.
Very good public transport system. With the addition of the new TCSP service, getting to many places of interest is quick and easy. There is a big choice of restaurants within walking distance, making eating out very easy.

We had been working long and hard for the past year and needed a quiet, no-hassle, short and quick break. Martinique was easy for us to get to. It was off-season and that was fine with us as we really didn't want to do very much. The city is clean, quiet, friendly, pretty, green, cultured and not expensive. The tourist centre was helpful. We tried to find some local art and craft, hand made things but there didn't seem to even be an art gallery. The Saturday market was interesting. We could not charge up our phones because of the power difference and we couldn't find an adapter to buy. We walked everywhere. Street food in the Savanne was just fine.
Our stay was a homestay with the owner and his 15 year old daughter. They were both such a joy to meet and talk with. For a fee, he picked us up at the airport and also dropped us off at the cruise terminal. He provided the food for breakfast which we could prepare on our own time schedule. From the apartment, we walked to the historical center with no problem - even walking back uphill was not an issue. His property has an excellent view and the relaxing atmosphere was an awesome treat. We would definately recommend this place.
The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly however when we got there (on a Sunday) we discovered that the bar and the restaurant were both closed. Given this was high season this was surprising but apparently they close every Sunday. There is nowhere close by to eat or drink. We had to get a taxi to a restaurant in the basement of Galleries Lafayette in the middle of an industrial estate to get something to eat which was not very convenient. Had I know this beforehand I would have booked somewhere else.
Location, location, location. This hotel is a short walk to/from the ferry terminal. It's also very close to the main bus lines, so you can get to/from the airport without a taxi. There are lots of great restaurants along the waterfront. The museums and fort are nearby. If you want to spend time in Fort-de-France, this is the place to be. The staff and facilities are also excellent. The wifi works well. I would stay here again.
The view from this location on Fort de France is fantastic. The feeling of an old home is charming as well. The main suite room is huge, with a living room / TV area, a huge bathroom, a great private balcony with couches. The staff is very friendly. The included continental breakfast is very good. We didn't use the infinity pool, but it looked great. Coffee machine in the room, and mini bar (not used). Mosquito nets.
Great artsy, authentic little apartment in the heart of Fort-de-France, with a supermarket two blocks away to stock the refrigerator. Just a short walk to all of the main attractions in the city center. Very friendly owner always available by Booking.com messaging, WhatsApp or phone. Be aware there is no elevator, so you will have to navigate one or two flights of stairs. I will definitely stay there again.
The house is extremely clean and the room has everything (balcony, fridge, stove, tv w/ cable, etc) The house is conveniently located near supermarkets, boulangeries, ferries, the beach, restaurants, etc. The host is a sweetheart and there is no way that I'm going back to Martinique and not go back to her house. Merci beaucoup pour ton accueil M.
The location is great and the front desk is so helpful with everything even helped arrange taxi to airport. Greatly appreciate it. The room is very spacious and clean but could hear things from outside. Would recommend providing ear plugs and hair dryer in rooms to add to experience.
I didn’t get the breakfast but the owner and his beautiful friend who spoke English helped me get a SIM card for my phone and showed me around Fort-de-France. They were extremely nice and welcoming. This is by far the best place I have ever stayed. I will definitely come here again!
Very helpful reception staff who spoke English. A very nice outdoor pool. A short walk to a super-market and shops such as a pharmacy and bakery. Plus two very good restaurants. It was a short drive up to the main highway, which took you into Fort-de-France.
Location! Walking distance from the Ferry pulling luggage, restaurants at your doorstep, bus service a few blocks away, 5 Euros for 2 persons to bus to airport where many car rental companies are available (book in advance for a rental car).
It is secure but the location is odd. You definately felt security is tight. The dining was good. Internet was a bit weak in our corner room which was a problem for working. Probably more of an executive hotel than geared to tourists.
Super host! Very responsive to emails, very welcoming, excellent dinner & breakfast cooked by the host for a good price and with fresh local products, transportation arranged by host to the airport. Excellent experience.
Fantastic views from the hotel and its rooms. Great breakfast. Charming and helpful host (than you :-). The place is unique in many respects - its location, interior, ambiance. To be highly recommended.
Nice view from the room. You can see the Caribbean Sea. It's close to the bus station and ferry station. Receptionist was very helpful and nice. It's a good hotel with good service.
The hotel was located very close to downtown. The staff were really friendly and the food was amazing. Overall we had a great time and will be going back
