Wonderful views of the Laguna Bacalar! The owner, Horacio, is very helpful and informative - he even gave us a Lonely Planet of Yucatan for free. A walk from the town center, but fortunately there is a very good restaurant nearby the Amigos Hotelito. It is expensive for Mexican standards since - with its heavenly lagoon - Bacalar has become a highlight in Yucatan. The price is right for the location.

If you're looking for a nice and quiet way to enjoy Bacalar, just stay here! We spent so long assessing the hotel options but in the end it was worth it as we landed here. The place is very small with only 5 rooms, but you're perfectly placed with a lovely view of the lagoon. It's a little outside town so your access to the water isn't blocked by boats and sitting on the pier with your coffee in the morning or a beer in the evening is idyllic. But it's also only 15 mins walk along a safe road into the centre. Horacio is so attentive, always being available night and day for whatever you need, including helping book tours and stuff. Despite the small number of guests, staff come in in the morning and offer a good range of breakfast options. Thanks Horacio!

Incredible view over the lagoon. Hotel has been there for 20 years, atmosphere is very cozy and staff is very friendly and helpful also for ordering taxis or booking a sailing trip (which is a must do). Rooms have a personal touch and hammock on the balcony was great. The dock is amazing to watch the sunrise.

This hotel was wonderful! The location on the lake and the location to restaurants and conveniences was perfect. When we arrived the host welcomed us and answered any questions we had. He was able to get our boat tour booked and handled our laundry. As others have said it is a bit dated, but that was all part of the charm. The kayaks and paddleboard were so fun and we could swim right off the dock.

I really loved our balcony with our hammock and perfect views on the lake, I also liked the atmosphere, it's very cosy and I felt very comfortable being there. Horacio is a perfect host, always friendly and helping you with everyhing you needed. And Boris the dog is lovely. I also really liked the possibility to take one of the kayaks of the Hotelito to explore the lake. So easy and without any costs.
