We loved Guanajuato and would go back sometime. We were only there two nights as a quick stop on our drive home to the US. It's an amazing city with the mining history and tunnels carved in the mountain. The architecture in the historic center is gorgeous, many buildings are from the 1700 and 1800s. We loved climbing the hill to the statue for the view as well as just wandering and exploring. There are all kinds of restaurants and street food, music in the streets every night and lots of shops of souvenirs. We recommend spending several days here.

Small, wonderful, kaleidoscopic, walkable, and friendly city...
Small, wonderful, kaleidoscopic, walkable, and friendly city to visit and explore. Great range of activities available: art and architecture, museums and music venues and food options (from street food on up) and hiking in the surrounding hills. Speaking Spanish helps, even if at a rudimentary level like mine. Guanajuato is an easy to just be. And if you forget the sunscreen ... farmacias to the rescue! Enjoy your visit.

Guanajuato is beautiful, full of colour & character.
The people are very friendly.
It's full of life. There's lots to see & lots to do.
I love walking through the quirky streets. It's very hilly. The views are spectacular.
They call it a magic town. I see why.
I've been here for 5 days so far & the more time I spend here the more I love it.

It is a beautiful city with lots to explore.
It is a beautiful city with lots to explore. It is more historic and lots of walking but we enjoyed. My kids enjoyed it even with it not being a lot of attractions geared towards children. Lots of street vendors and delicious foods.

The people were very friendly.
The people were very friendly. A lot of walking goes on with very little other transportation. There are definitely a huge number of people walking the street that usually come up from the tunnels. The tunnels being the major source of entrance into the city. The parks are usually full of people walking around and in the evenings they have lots of songs and and other activities.

What a wonderful city, so rich and vibrant.
What a wonderful city, so rich and vibrant. Very colorful and moving. El Pipila overlooks the City, both the grand and simple buildings. You can feel the history of this place. The infrastructure and buildings are magnificent, the people generous, the comida tipica delicious. The cacophony of sound: music, vendors, traffic on stone streets, peeling church bells, and people interacting gives a special hum to this lively city.
There is amazing street art and many museums, sculptures and statues, parks and plazas, stone steps and alley ways and beautiful smiles. The well thought out network of tunnels lessens traffic and are an invitation to enjoy this walkable city.
The experience of staying at this hotel was just amazing. Starting from Rafa (the owner) who gave us a super welcome to the place. The hotel is full of small touches which make it cozy and pleasant when you are visiting Guanajuato. My friends and me were planning to stay just 1 night but decided to come back just as the experience worth to be repeated. The rooms are big enough. No noise at all. The bathroom super clean. Rafa offers a coffee or tea in the morning which you can take with a sweet bread too. Rafa thanks for your hospitality!
Nice hotel on the edge of the center about a 20 minute walk to the main square along beautiful ancient streets. The walk back to the hotel is uphill but not steep so not a problem for anyone with functioning legs. The big plus about the location is that it's super quiet at night. The room had an old style charm and overall I don't think I could've found better value in Guanajuato. Ive been to 20+ places in Mexico and only Oaxaca was more impressive than Guanajuato, all in all this was a great experience.
Very centric area in the Guanajuato. However very disappointed with a tour that was set up by one of the employees from hotel. Tour guide was late and we waited for almost an hour. Tour guide picked us up and took us to destination. Upon arrival only to find out destination had closed 10 minutes prior. We asked hotel to help us contact the tour agency and never gave us an answer
I love that this hotel is in a neighborhood just uphill from Plaza Baratillo. Paulina is a lovely person and a fabulous hostess. Casa Azul is a rambling old house with loads of character, and lots of stairs. I'd begin each day on the roof terrace with coffee, listening to the roosters and church bells, and enjoying the incredible views over the city!
The location could not be better. The hotel is located on the main plaza where almost everything happens. The real highlight, however, is the staff. They were all friendly and extremely helpful, especially the young woman who supervises the reservations in 1850 and their sister hotel Sterling. My wife and I highly recommend Boutique Hotel 1850.
This was our second stay here for months in Hotel Santa Regina. Best location in Guanajuato to visit some of the most iconic sites in the city such as the Basílica Colegiata de Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato. The staff is attentive and helpful. The hotel also offers a nice breakfast at a sister location nearby. Highly recommended.
everything is superb, especially the host and the terrace. Nothing beats a delicious breakfast with amazing panoramic view of this colorful city. within walkable distance to the city centre. Host very friendly and thoughtful and let us store the luggage. Easy check in and check out. We had a lovely time in Guanajuato.
Out of seven hotels in our trip this was perhaps our nicest stay. Super cute architecture and rooms. Very friendly owners. Amazing roof terrace, cute dog, and wonderful breakfast. Really lovely. And since there weren't any other guests at the time, we got upgraded for free. That was really nice also.
Rafael and Verónica are great, they made us feel like home, like we were family. I bet this hotel is one of the most beautiful properties in Guanajuato, Rafael did an extraordinary job restoring and decorating this place! Room was really comfy and spotlessly clean, definitely we will come back!
Beautiful property. The breakfasts were outstanding - every day different and so good and filling and healthy. The doña de la casa and her staff are wonderful people and helpful with each and every matter. She’s also super knowledgeable about all of Mexico and fun to practice Spanish with.
Everything....
Perfect hosts, nice location 15 min walk to Centro, beautiful house, room with view and full bathroom, confortable and well equiped common area, access to pool and roof patio, great breakfast. parking
Highly recommended
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Guanajuato.
A well located hotel right in the centre of the city, a good base to explore all the highlights without needing a car. Solid breakfast too, though it does start quite late at 9am.
The Hotel Plaza Baratillo was on excellent place in Guanajuato everything was around the area walking on circle we never get lost and they offer the tours the see Guanajuato
Good location in the heart of Guanajuato. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building and added to the charm of the city. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good value.
