The hotel is very nice and clean, just like the description and pictures. I liked the aesthetic and design of the interior of the hotel, including the rooftop deck. I enjoyed my stay there and would consider staying again in the future due to its central location - proximity to the beach, main street, and the ferry.
This distinctly stylish hotel is located just 164 feet from the sandy beach in the heart of Playa del Carmen with shopping, dining and nightlife available nearby.

Nice hotel ideally situated with close walk to 5th, playa, shopping, etc. I took ADO from CUN and was able to walk with my luggae to hotel and same when departing by ferry about 10 mins.
I was in the back building which probably helped but it wasnt very noisy. It's PDC so you probably need to be on the outskirts or at a mega resort to have silence. Bar next door can have music late into evening so if you are a light sleeper, request back building. Either way, ear plus and/or noise machine should do the trick.
My full bed was a bit stiff but still adequate for the amazing value. AC was great. Safe in room is smallish but fit my laptop etc with some maneuvering. If you have a large laptop it may not fit. Wifi was as good as anywhere ive stayed in PDC
For the value, convenience, and staff I would recommend and will stay again.
Staff was great and very accomodating.

At the centre of the Mayan Riveria is Playa del Carmen, a playground for hip Europeans and toned-and-tanned Americans. This resort town showcases the renowned white-sand beaches of the Caribbean Coast along the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Playa del Carmen's powdery white sands are nestled between Cancun to its north, Tulum in the south and the island of Cozumel, 20 km east with its fantastic diving in the nearby Great Maya Reef. Awake from an afternoon nap to take a dip, go snorkelling or deep-sea fishing in the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Playa is an easy choice as a holiday destination with its range of hotels, many first-class restaurants and beachside nightclubs. Quinta Avienda, also known as 5th Avenue, is the main tourist hub and shopping district. For a more authentic Mexico experience, venture outside of the centre to a local cenote (sinkhole) or Mayan ruins in Tulum.
Cruise ships dock in nearby Cozumel and traffic people to the mainland arriving at the Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal. If the glimmering Caribbean waters are full, then Booking.com has a huge number of hotels with an outdoor swimming pool by the beach.
It was an unexpected delight. It's a walkable city close to the beach. It comes alive at night and is so serene to navigate through. The structure of the buildings are gorgeous. I loved also being around the people of Playa Del Carmen; I loved the local feel to it.

Having spent some time in Cancun, (zona hotelera) before visiting playa del Carmen, I think I would definitely prefer the beaches in Cancun. Playa del Carmen had a lot of seaweed and I found that unpleasant. The sea was alright, the facilities we didn't use because our accommodation was right in front of the beach.

Playa del Carmen has great weather and great food, but it is...
Playa del Carmen has great weather and great food, but it is crazy expensive. It's been a few years since my last trip to Mexico, but beers for 20-30 Pesos are long gone. Now it is more like 65-95. A bad margarita was 110 pesos and a good one was 190 or more. Feeding my family of 3 cost well over $100/day, and that's eating only 2 meals. A two tank dive for a certified diver was $145. A one hour snorkeling tour for 3 was $210. Also, it's full of hawkers and vendors and scams (the tip is often added to your bill at a restaurant and they try to hide that from you). Playa del Carmen had none of feel that Zijhuataneo did in 10 years ago. It's not a community. It's a place to go for tourists (from Mexico, the US, and Europe) to enjoy the beach and weather and for Mexicans to go to extract money from tourists.

Playa del Carmen had some beautiful areas.
Playa del Carmen had some beautiful areas. But also some very poor areas. The excaret parks are amazing. The Playacar beach was awesome. The people there are awfully pushy and will rip you off. If you aren’t careful. The transportation system is amazing.

charming , the open roof allowed the occasional rain showers to come into the main part of the hotel. I felt immersed in mature .Posada Mariposa is located in a good central spot on 5th Ave. I could walk in many directions and find what I was looking for within 8 minutes. the beach Mamita was a short walk to the ocean. La Vaca Gaucho just steps away from Mariposa had the best steak dinner . La Vagabundo was so conviene . I could walk steps across the street to get my morning coffee or breakfast . and they open at 7 AM as I’m an early bird .
fantastic staff and facilities. rooms are huge (we had basic and even that was big). food and drink choices are incredible. probably the best value for money hotel I’ve stayed in!
the hotel staff are very helpful land we booked all our excursions through then (safe and easy option and also they organise a transfer from hotel, when searching myself j found it difficult to find this option as hotel is about 15min outside of playa del carmen main area and tours would expect you to meet there)
Location is excellent right on 5th Avenue. Like an oasis amongst the chaos. The hotel is beautiful. The staff were lovely. Cleaners left little extra touches like a Happy New Year sign as we were there for 31st Dec. I was very worried about the noise from 5th Ave so I requested a room facing the garden. I can only recommend the hotel based on this experience as the noise wasn’t bad at all. Not sure how it would be if you had a room facing the street though.
Fantastic location right in the middle of Playa del carmen, one block from the madness of the 5th street. Many restaurants, shops and bars within walking distance.
From outside you feel like you're in a regular city but inside the hotel it makes you feel like you're in one of those bungalow villas in Asia.
The pool area is very relaxing. We got to use the spa for 30 min and it was a nice relaxing experience.
Overall the bedroom is very comfortable.
Being an all inclusive, once booked you didn't have to think about anything else. Everything you wanted food or drink was continually available throughout the day. The resort itself was directly on the beach, so access was pretty simple. Lounge chairs were plentiful, so relaxing the day away was a breeze. The buffet had quite the range. We didn't try the fine dining restaurants, as the queues were to long, and it was impossible to book a night anyway.
It is amazing place, hotel located in tropical forest jungle, every day you can see koaties, aygumis, monkey, iguana. Staff is very polite and friendly. Food at buffet and restaurants very fresh and tasty. Beach is clean, big, water is Turquoise. Animation team does great work for aquagym, zumba, girls at mini club are kind and good to every child. It was really great choice and one of the best family holidays.
Convenient stop coming from the ferry at Playa Del Carmen, only 15min drive. The hostess was incredibly friendly and conversed fluently in English. Cute pool and very clean rooms. Enormous bed and good pillows. Hotel cat was very vocal and cuddly as well! Breakfast was great, would recommend the Mexican cheesy option over the pancakes though.
This place is a great value for a beachfront hotel. It's basic but clean and everyone is friendly. There some things out of their control that made this stay uncomfortable but they did try to remedy the situation as best as they could.
Very interesting place - in the heart of Playa del carmen but fenced off
enough that in the evening we could sleep peacefully......hotel in a
botanical garden palms and trees around us.....super...very peaceful and
pleasant.
I liked everything about the hotel: the proximity to the beach and to 5a avenida, the restaurant and beach club, the breakfast, and the room. I think I even preferred staying here than at the all inclusive in Cancun!
I liked the cleanliness of the hotel. The Roof top view was breathtaking, with all the amenities. The gourmet all inclusive package was the best part of the stay. you are really getting your money’s worth.
Stayed here for two weeks. Extremely clean room, strong wifi and attentive staff. Only 5/10 minutes walk away to downtown. This has been the best value/price hotel in Playa del Carmen for us.
Everyone at the Illusion hotel went out of their way to make are stay one of the best visits in Playa Del Carmen. This was our second time staying at Illusions and will definitely be back.
The facilities were very clean. The attention was excellent and the hotel is in one of the best locations in Playa del Carmen. We stayed there again a week later. I highly recommended it.
It’s right on the beach and one block from all the shops and restaurants on 5th and it’s next door to an amazing restaurant. The outside of this hotel really is quite charming.
Very cheap and Nice hotel close to the end of 5th avenue. If you want cheap, reliable and a pool in at hotel this is definitely where you should stay in Playa del Carmen
