The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing.
The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and gracious. The restaurant options were remarkable considering the small size of the town. We didn't explore much outside our hotel and Centro Bacalar, however there were many options for great day trips and tours nearby. It was easy to fly into Chetumal and take a taxi to Bacalar.
We ate many times at Xant Ha since we stayed at the Maya Bacalar Hotel, and it was fantastic! El Manati had fantastic food and the art gallery with gift shop was a bonus. La Playita has incredible atmosphere right on the water and the service was excellent. Food here was just OK. We had a great time getting to know the owner at Sweet Child of Wine, and she served us tasty tapas as we sipped local wines. Enjoyed our meal at Nao Sushi, great location on the water.

It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal. The tour on the lake takes you to the different cenotes, with time to swing in those colorful waters, it is really beautiful.
We found a nice restaurant called Waah, the food was delicious, all dishes are prepared from scratch. Excellent.
The city is small and peaceful. There is a fort San Felipe to visit.

Bacalar is a small town, not much to do, the lagoon is beautiful but the tours are expensive and with time the massive turism will damage the lagoon. They don't have the infrastructure to protect nature from garbage and people waste.

The hostel Lahar douwtown has a super friendly vibes and it really made it fun to be in Bacalar.
After coming from Tulum this was exactly what we needed!
This stay is our number one stay during our Mexico trip! Bacalar is really nice, but staying here, in these cabins next to the lake is really breathtaking! You our one with nature.
The owners of this place are super friendly, they make you feel very welcome, they give you good tips and provide you the best stay.
Their chef's are amazing too, the food in this place made us smile!
To top it all of, they have 2 amazing dogs! We loved Clemantina and Tabatha <3
Location, location, location. The hotel is located just four blocks from the centro histórico and two blocks from the lagoon. After a little bit of a mix up about the room we had reserved, everything was taken care of to our satisfaction. Randy at the reception desk was friendly and very helpful. The vegan breakfast was simple but filling. The room was simply decorated but comfortable for a good nights sleep. The courtyard was relaxing. A good place to rest in Bacalar.
Great service: that makes all Jesus was just wonderful. The lake is a 5 mins walk and for three times nothing you can access to a park and take a dip to cool off: We loved our stay here! The hotel does not serve breakfast BUT the staff can arrange for you to order in: Food and Price is great! They offer as well good prices for cruises on the lake: We did this option an had one of our best days in Mexico!
The aircon works very well! Our car seemed save on the parking:) .
Location was perfect, Room was amazing. Ultra clean. Family owned and run. Could walk from the ADO bus station (1.5 km maybe). Just up the road from the lagoon. And close to the centre, for food, drink and nightlife.
Provided water to refill bottles, free coffee all day, and basic breakfast was provided. Thumbs up. Definite hidden gem in Bacalar. Maria was great, so helpful, and a pleasure to deal with.
Best stay in Mexico so far, while touring.
Beautifully designed, unique boutique hotel with such a warm, welcoming vibe. The staff are amazing, so genuinely friendly and helpful. Lots of different spaces to enjoy in the hotel such as the rooftop terrace with wonderful view of the lagoon, a lounge area, swimming pool and garden. Location was perfect, a few mins walk away from the lagoon, restaurants and bars. I was sad to leave and I felt so relaxed after my stay.
If you want to be near Centro, whichever town of Mexico you're traveling in, you can't get much closer than this. I enjoy being near the hustle and bustle of any town I stay in. If noise isn't you're thing, then maybe look elsewhere. It was an easy walk to the beach clubs, restaurants, bars, tours and the Lagoon itself. And that's what I go for when I travel.
Everything! We are very well welcome by our 2 hosts in a charming place, with all the confort you need and a homemade breakfast! It's very well located near the the laguna and they provide all the informations you need about the tours and activities around. Bacalar has been our favorite spot in Mexico by far! I highly recommend you to stay in Casa Zazil!
My favourite stay in the whole of Mexico. This place is amazing and everyone should stay here during their time in Bacalar. Lovely private apartment to yourself. The family who run it are amazing, so helpful and lovely. They couldn’t do enough for us. Very clean and comfortable space and the location couldn’t be more perfect if you tried. 100/10!!
This place is amazing top to bottom. The staff is incredible and treats you like family. The hotel is beautiful, and you can tell how much thought and love goes into every little piece of it. Everything is kept spotlessly clean. A perfect oasis in Bacalar and really great value too!
brand new facilities, beautiful rooms and restaurant. great breakfast and really friendly staff. I stayed at another hotel in Bacalar that was more expensive and was supposed to be nicer, but Blue Palm is 10x better because of the quality of the rooms, staff, and experience.
This was by far our best stay in México. The property is beautiful, the food is great and the staff is very friendly. We celebrated our anniversary with a romantic dinner on the pier by the lake and it was truly beautiful. The staff made it happen. Will stay again!
Spacious, clean room and very comfortable bed. They offered small breakfast with amazing granola, fresh fruits and I loved their homemade jams. Hotel offers a help with booking a boat trip on Bacalar lake and their port is very close to hotel. Around 5 min walk.
Laguna access, relaxed atmosphere, breakfast included, drink vouchers for bar, AC+safe in room, and convenience store next to hotel.
Super friendly reception ladies helping us with restaurants and calling taxis (no uber in Bacalar yet).
Very central and confortable Hotel for a short stay to visit Bacalar. The central plaza is a few blocks away, easy access to the lake too and very good restaurants nearby. The room is cozy and clean and the staff extremely helpful!
super cute place right in the center but still quiet. the rooms are very bright thanks to the window front. yes the walls are thin but we had that issue all over Mexico and here it was much better than in other places
The staff was amazing, helpful, and with great tips about where to eat and go around the lagoon.
The rooms were very spacious, with good king-size beds (something rare in Mexico), with mini-fridge, AC and clean.
This Hotel has the most helpful, friendly owner you can imagine. The rooms are cute, very clean and quiet, which is uncommon in Mexico in my experience.
