Beautiful island with amazing sunset.
Beautiful island with amazing sunset. Very friendly people, reasonable prices, but You have to be very careful with local hotel staff, unfortunately they steal money from your room and hotel management don't do anything. They lie. Don't take cash with you, use only credit cards or take small cash and carry always with you. It didn't happen only to me. It happened to many friends of mine:(

A lovely beach if there was no sargasso.
A lovely beach if there was no sargasso. Streets are all sand, the soft powdery stuff and rocks! Very much in need of a grader as it’s very rough. Way too many taxi’s racing by ( side x side atv’s). If you book a hotel quite always from the ferry or have lots of luggage, you may want to take a taxi ($300 pesos)
Loads of restaurants near the beach downtown, has a younger vibe. Very pricey for everything! $250-300 pesos for a margarita, small. Breakfast runs you $300 pesos if you are getting a beverage as well. ( we ate in ) There are some food carts around the square after 7 pm with affordable tacos, tortas, etc. for more affordable eats. There are a few affordable restaurants as well but you have to ask around or spend some time checking menu prices to find them, they are a few blocks off the Main Street.
We ate at Cenaduria La Tapacia, shared a pastor burrito, very good.
Antojitos Kanasin and D’alex Pizza are also great choices.
So if you have some extra cash to spend it’s a nice place to visit for a short time. Just try to make it before Sargasso season. You would love the beach!

Staying in Holbox Island was the highlight of our trip.
Staying in Holbox Island was the highlight of our trip. I loved how friendly and peaceful it was. Everywhere you go you are close to a spectacularly beautiful beach. There are many great restaurants. You often see birds and lizards. The prices are not as cheap as some areas of Mexico but are cheaper than tourist areas in Tulum or Cancun.

The relaxed vibe and the fabulous long beach and sand bar up to mosquito point were highlights. There was a great choice of places to eat in every price category so wasn't expensive.
Some of the roads are in poor condition and the low level of the island means they flood causing muddy obstacles that breed mosquitos. In march it wasn't too bad though and you could always find away to avoid walking through the mud.
There was a garbage problem on the island - the further from the beach/centre of town the worse it gets and it needs a bit of a clean up.

I was impressed by the nice beachy / sandy atmosphere on this island. The roads are nice with their mix of concrete and sand. It feels so relax. We stayed 2 days but another day having breakfast by the beach and trying some of the island restaurants would have been great. It's great for relaxing.

The Island is perhaps the best remaining part of the...
The Island is perhaps the best remaining part of the Caribbean / northern peninsula coast that has not yet become “Gringolandia.” Although fishing and tourism are the major industries, the island retains the culture and ambiance that used to mark the places like Tulum, Isla Mujeres, or Cozumel. Hopefully the need to take a 3 hour bus ride to get there will protect Isla Holbox for a while. It’s easy to understand the 50-50 split in tourist reviews - if you expect a Disney version of Yucatán, stay away. The infrastructure will disappoint you. But if you want a unique beautiful little island, you’ll be fine. I’m actually feeling guilty for writing this - I would rather tell everyone to stay away, and preserve the entire island for the future!
We really like how calm, clean and zen this place is. Very helpful staff, always ready to help with a smile. Because of the specific architectural design of the building, inside of the hotel was always cooler than outside without need of AC which complimented perfectly if you want to have a cool dip into the refreshing pool and cool down from the high degrees of hotness of the island. Room was spacious and clean, has a good AC. Definitely recommend to everyone! The place is a 5 min walk from the beach and the downtown centre.
The location is excellent if you’re looking for a quiet, secluded area of the island, perfect for families and those looking to unplug. No tv, phone, and the Wi-Fi is barely works, and that is exactly why we are here! An experience to remember! The palapa’s are beautifully hand crafted, the grounds are meticulously maintained, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is excellent! If you’re looking for a five star hotel, this isn’t it, if you’re looking for an experience, this place is great.
Definitely worth the extra money to stay at the beach! It is quite far to the center of town - it looks close on the map but it is FAR. The island lacks paved roads and getting around is only by (golf carts/ATV) taxis. Trust me, you don’t want to walk especially with a stroller. Maybe the best way to walk is on the beach. The hotel itself is great (looks like a dream at night!) and we went for the beach not the town so the location was perfect for us! The palapas on the beach are also wonderful!
We really enjoyed the stay in corazon mexicano, the hotel is closed to the port and about 10 mins from the beach.
The Hotel is small and it doesn't have all the confort you can find in a luxury resort, but for us it was enough as we spent most of days around the island.
Fernando the receptionist, helped us to move around the island, with recommendations about bars, restaurants and beach to see.
The property is in a great location with wonderful staff! Clean rooms and great food. The staff at Hotel Para Ti, Sandra in particular really went above and beyond to make sure the were comfortable. We had an incredible stay! Wouldn’t stay anywhere else on Isla Holbox! Can’t wait to be back. Thank you so much for everything!
The location on the beach is great - the hotel lounge and beach area is behind a grungy seawall, which blocks direct access to the water. It’s on the quieter side of the island, which is fantastic, within walking distance to the main strip. The staff were friendly and the rooms cleaned each day.
Charming boutique hotel in a quite district of Holbox, close to the best beach and walking distance from the centre.
Beautiful design and lovely details everywhere.
Amazing breakfast on the rooftop.
We try 3 hotels on the island and this one is our favourite.
Gorgeous, boutique hotel. Beautifully kept grounds, rooms, lovely laid- back relaxing atmosphere with very helpful, friendly staff. Good proximity to shop shops, restaurants and beach. Stylish, authentic Mexican design and decor, we loved Tierra del Mar.
Very basic hotel. Rooms were very big and had patio. Location is very good since the island is very small. This hotel is near everything and you can walk everywhere. A nice little pool area.
Staff was very helpfull. Area was safe to walk.
Lovely boutique hotel! Staff went above and beyond. We loved the location - walkable to town but a bit away from the craziness. A delicious breakfast each morning combined with the hotel's view was perfection.
Cosy boutique hotel, with a great pool. Staff were really kind, there was water and coffee available during the day for free. Also I liked that in rooms everything is made out of stone. That was really cool.
the property is in the centre of town so you’re never more than five minutes from anything. very nicely designed… I felt like I was in Pinterest! lovely cute boutique hotel with a mini jet pool on the roof
There is nothing to like after the owners' unprofessional behaviour.
This was the only bad experience after travelling in mexico for 5 months and we stayed at a lot of hotels. Shocking behaviour
This hotel is noting Sustainable or Boutique category. They don't offer any quality as they announce and they mislead people with their photos. Nothing pleasant! we had the worst vacation ever.
Lovely small boutique hotel with 6 rooms some of which are on stilts in the palm tree tops. Lovely people running the facility, great breakfast. Something very special.
