Lovely little village with some local character, where there are some local people, not just tourists. Perfect location for everything: snorkelling, the airport, cenotes, local attractions, and yet much more relaxed and low key than most other places on the coast.

This ""Deluxe Double Ocean View" room was awful.
This ""Deluxe Double Ocean View" room was awful. NO furniture except for the bed and ONE wooden chair. We had to put our luggage on the floor. NO closet or hangers. NO bottled water - which should be a given for any Mexican hotel. So glad we were only there for two nights and then could escape to our place in Akumal. We do love Puertos Morelos and the restaurant on-site at the hotel helped make up for our miserable stay.
LAST time we book with Booking.com.

Puerto Morelos is a quiet, laid back town that tries to provide both modern conveniences, while maintaining its ethnic culture. The restaurants were plentiful and the food was well prepared. If you are staying on the beach side, everything was within walking distance. (The bookstore was a pleasant surprise.) This is not a party town. Most of the visitors are middle aged and hail from the USA and Canada. For us, this was the perfect place to relax.

I know people who travel far distances to go to Cabo, Costa Rica, the Caribbean islands, etc that haven't been to Puerto Morelos. Puerto Morelos is a short flight from the US and has excellent resorts, beautiful ocean views, and plenty of water and land activities to choose from. Puerto Morelos also offers several options on the types of resorts that suit your lifestyle, Resorts for families, for adults only, adults only that are top optional, and even couples only resorts that are clothes optional. We've traveled far distances to other resort destinations and sure, each location has it's unique qualities. But Puerto Morelos unique qualities and is only 30 minutes from Cancun International Airport, which offers many direct flights from US and other international cities.

Puerto Morelos used to be a quiet little fishing village.
Puerto Morelos used to be a quiet little fishing village. We used to love to spend our winters there. It is a mess right now. They are building some huge condominium buildings and the construction noise and traffic are horrible! The buildings are just getting bigger and bigger....and huge, tall eye sores!!! Taxi's drive like crazy people....and the town has definitely lost it's quaint, quiet beauty. It's to bad that the people who are making the development decisions in Puerto Morelos have such poor judgement, because this once beautiful little fishing village is being destroyed!!! It's very sad to see Puerto Morelos being destroyed! We couldn't be more disappointed by the destruction of this amazing place!

We enjoyed puerto Morelos, laid back vibe, lots of building happening of condos etc, we heard it will be a stop for the maya train. For us a week is enough, although we met many people who spend winters there.
The real star of this place is the staff and care you receive as a guest! The owners do an amazing job of recommending great cenotes, archeological areas to visit (not the usual ones), and organising snorkel tours.
The location of the hotel is also excellent - just a 30 second walk to the beach, and a short walk from the main restaurants in Puerto Morelos.
The breakfast was our favourite - great coffee, nice fruit plate, and a great main dish which varied every day.
We would stay again!
Everyone was so accommodating and followed Covid requirements better than I have seen anywhere. The resort was beautiful. We made a small upgrade to the lazy river rooms. I highly recommend that, the rooms were huge and cleaned daily with turn down service. Food was good, entertainment was good, weather was good. We have stayed in several all inclusive resorts and this is definitely the best. We will go back again soon.
We couldn't get a place on the beach, so we found this. The price was very good, but we always had to walk a couple of blocks to the beach or even further to downtown restaurants. Walking is no big deal as the weather was always nice. This is a good deal for folks on a budget as you have a kitchenette with all you need. The hotel provided drinking water in 5 gallon jugs. Internet worked well our entire week.
Amazing little gem right in the middle of the beach side of Puerto Morelos. Loads of food in easy walking distance, only a couple blocks from the beach, grocery store, massage places, dive shops and basically everything else. Block from main square/taxi stand/collectivo pickup. Small complete apartment with full kitchen, hot shower with good pressure, A/C, and furniture. Cute little gated outdoor area as well.
This is my go-to hotel in Puerto Morelos. I have been staying there for more than 20 years and have seen it change owners and many updates and renovations. Always a great place to stay, right on the beach. Great beachbar, nice little pool and always friendly staff. The food is consistently good and now they have their beach club too which has great breakfast. Definitely the place to stay in PM.
This was a change of hotel styles for me as it is more of a US type of hotel rather than Mexican old word charm type of hotel I usually stay at when in Mexico. That said, the staff was friendly, wifi was excellent, it was clean, bed was comfortable, and my room on the top floor had wonderful views of the city and the sea, and a wonderful balcony to enjoy it from.
A one of a kind experience in the heart of the jungle. Like sleeping under the stars safe and sound in your own little bubble. The hotel lacks for nothing; service, food, high speed wifi, private cenote, sweat lodge, telescope, AC, comfortable beds, and a beach-like pool. All only 20 mins from the beach at Puerto Morelos.
We always stay here when we go to Puerto Morelos, and for good reason. For the price, it is the best hotel in town: right on the beach, great pool, nice restaurant (service can be a bit iffy at times) comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. Plus, the location can't be beat, just steps from "downtown"
Wonderful landscaping of the hotel. The ambiance was nice. Good size resort - not too large from other resorts we've been too. Felt secure and enjoyed being able to walk on the beach and visit into town. Live music each night was nice while you waited for dinner. Staff was overall friendly.
The rooms are massive and very comfortable.
So is the balcony.
The view is phenomenal.
Breakfast was lovely.
There's an elevator which is rare for small hotels and easier if you're on the top floors.
The staff was very kind and helpful.
Almost right in the centre this hotel has very nice rooms, a restaurant and the best roof terrace in town. The shower was the best I’ve had during my trip in Mexico. The restaurant owner who is also your landlord is super nice 👍
The hotel building is in large area and on the beachfront, the breakfast is 6/10, most of the staff are friendly, the rooms are little worn and need refreshing. Unfortunately, that's where the good things ends.
We only stayed here for two nights and the hotel has beautiful design and the rooms are super comfortable. Puerto Morelos is a really cool town and was a highlight of our Riviera Maya trip.
Its just 30 min from the airport and this small beach town feels extremely safe, easy to go around and the hotel is spotless. wifi was almost perfect, room also.
