Mazatlan was the first place we visited in Mexico 25 years ago. As with all of tourist Mexico it has changed considerably. Now I live full time in another, quieter coastal area. We came to Maz this time for the eclipse. Normally, it's too crazy for us alumni of the party-hardy school and we were not disappointed.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE CITY. I DID HAVE MTY SPANISH GUIDE WITH ME FOR MOST OF MY TRIP. WITHOUT MY SPANISH GUIDE THUIS TRIP WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT VERY DIFFERENTLY FOR ME, MUCH ON THE NEAGTIVE SIDE. ALSO WHAT IS WITH THE MMEXICAN POLICEMAN IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK HOLDING TO A LOADED MACHINE ALL ABOUT? THIS GUY ALMOST LOOKED TRIGGER HAPPY. THIS GUY WAS READY TO PULL THE TIRGGER.

The Plaza Machado and Centro Histórico were out favorites.
The Plaza Machado and Centro Histórico were out favorites. We love watching students at the music school and strolling the streets. The monthly art walk is great. It’s a genuine Mexican city with beaches. What could be better?

There were a few nice beaches and the market in old mazatlan was great. Buses were easy to get on and off and a good price.
Golden zone smells like sewage. It is busy and hardly anyone that can speak English. So loud!! It is over populated and filthy. Definitely would not recommend golden zone or the malecon. The beaches along the malecon and golden zone are gross!!! One little section in front of the marriot that is ok, otherwise run!! Best beaches are at emerald bay, deer island (grab a boat in front of holiday inn for 150 pesos return) and stone island (get a boat at the old marina for 35 pesos return)
If you want to shop, avoid the malls, Malecon and golden zone. Everything you could want is in old mazatlan and at way better prices. Research cab fares before you go. One will charge 300 and the next 800. Download uber so you have a back up way to get around.
Have fun, explore the small towns around. Glad we went, but won't go back!

Lovely beach and beautiful water.
Lovely beach and beautiful water. You can walk down the sand for a long ways. North of the Marina is quieter than the golden zone area. There are many hotels and restaurants. A bit cooler than Puerto Vallarta
The location was good, though not right in the Golden Zone as we thought. Communicator by text - though that only happened 1/2 way through our stay. They did a good job with hurricane Pamela & we felt safe. Maid service once requested was very good. Most staff was very friendly and many knew English but not all or well. There is a Starbucks in lobby! No green iced tea — but other drinks we liked. Easy to take a taxi or pulmonia. Close to some very good restaurants & OXXO across the street.
Super disappointing. The room was dark and depressing. The staff made us feel completely unwelcomed. The food was expensive and not great. No coffee in the rooms or at all until 8am at the restaurant. The only reason the hotel did not get the very worst rating from us is because of one awesome lady that worked nights, gave me some of her personal coffee stash at 6am because I was so distraught that there wasn't coffee available. Dont stay here - you will be disappointed.
The hotel sits on a narrow stretch of property and the rooms are nicely oriented to give you a view of the ocean. The further you go, the better the view. The rooms marked 01 are the best as they are straight facing the beach and the incredible sunsets you enjoy in that area. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasantly laid back.
All staff is great! Something outstanding to mention is that, this is the first all inclusive hotel I see staff being as nice as friendly to Mexican than to foreign people, in general in all locations and hotels, staff is more attentive and treats better the foreign than us!
The facilities are nice and the restaurants are great!
The hotel is a great place to chill out for a few days. Although part of the pool is undergoing renovation and was closed, the remaining part is still big enough. There is a direct access to the beach. The area has a number of restaurants around in addition to two in the hotel itself. The rooms were big.
The hotel is an old classic right on Olas Altas beach in Mazatlán. I was received badly there in 2017 but decided to go back because of the location and price. This time, we did get the ocean view room we reserved and the view was marvellous. The room itself is rather plain but passable.
The hotel is 2 mins walk from the plaza. There are numerous bank ATMs very close to the hotel. The attached restaurant serves a buffet breakfast for 229 Pesos (284 Pesos on Sunday). The room also has an iron and ironing board. Yey!
Very clean and comfortable small apartment located in a non-touristy Mazatlan neighbourhood. Excellent value for money. Prompt replies via messaging when I had questions.
All inclusive is not what I expect, only two places to get your meals, there not beach at all, too many rocks, so i f you like beach, this Hotel is the worst decision
