Centrally located to everything, the staff were so helpful and accommodating and when we would miss the breakfast they’d make an exception. Clean, beds were comfortable, quiet, good breakfast and a very charming place. I’d definitely recommend this place to friends and I’d stay here again!! Gracias

So many great places to see and way too many great restaurants to try! One absolute must is the Bodeaga Bakery on Miguel Hidalgo
Casa Oaxaca was a delightful culinary experience. Monte Alban was overwhelming to see.

Historic, colorful town with lots of fabulous restaurants (...
Historic, colorful town with lots of fabulous restaurants (I'm vegan and had no trouble finding many places that were entirely so with exciting menus using local ingredients and sauces). Our favorite was Hierba Dulce but also several other great ones, Herbivora, Veriditas Cocina Vegana). Street scene was always exciting with lots of art (get the graphics passport at one of the gallery/ workshops; get it stamped at each one to get a discount. It comes with a map). We saw several street parades with live bands and giant animated figures in celebration of weddings and graduations. Botanical garden was beautiful but the tour was tedious, with little useful information (but I'm a botanist and I would have preferred to walk around without 40 other people). Monte Alban is magnificent archeological site not far from town. It has excellent signage. Poke around on your own and take your camera. Beware of vendors selling "artifacts that they found in their corn field"-- surely fakes and it's illegal to take real artifacts out of the country.

City is beautiful but overrated.
City is beautiful but overrated. It depends on what else in south you have seen? We have been to other parts of Mexico, Peru, Colombia…Food quality and menus seem overhyped too. I often found myself chewing on corn…

We loved the authenticy of this city. Not a lot of tourists.
We loved the authenticy of this city. Not a lot of tourists. Learn some basic spanish and have google translate at the ready. the food and art is the best part of this city. Outstanding food and Mezcal. Great shopping for all pricepoints. Quality textiles. We came in early April and it was quite hot by mid day but if you walk on the shady side of the street and bring lots of water you will be OK. It cools down to be toterable in the early evening. Alway felt safe and the local people are friendly but not in your face trying to sell you trinkets. It is a relatively clean city and lots of people out and about. The Saturday night life was great. people were out having fun until almost 4 am! I would not recommend staying in the front room of any hotels as the road noise can be loud with lots of buses rubling down the narrow main streets.
Highly reccomend the baked goods at boulent blanc hotel bakery and lunch st LOS Danzantes.( get the mole sampler as an appetizer, you will be blown away by flavor, get extra plantain dumplings and its a meal!
Enjoy a wonderful week in this fabulous city.

Regardless of your interests, there is something here for everyone. We stayed a week and saw ruins, textile artisans, ate well, visited areas of interest and didn't even scratch the surface. Oh, and the food is fabulous.

Since we couldn’t find a large enough vehicle to drive us to the center (Zocalo) We walked from the bus station to the center (Zocalo) with our luggage. I believe it was a 45 min walk. I was amazed that we felt safe walking the streets of Oaxaca with our luggage on hand! Didn’t even get the awkward stare (which I would have done if I’d see some tourists walking with their luggage lol) Oaxaca felt safe to walk the streets. The food, the atmosphere, the culture, the people and other tourist made this experience a very unforgettable experience. We fell in love with Oaxaca! We will be visiting more often.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon. Nana Vida was actually a very last minute booking. We did not have any expectations, because we needed a place to stay ASAP. Nana Vida was exactly what we had needed in a hotel. The location is walking distance from the center of town, all of the best markets, and located in a safe, friendly, quiet area. The staff at Nana Vida were extremely welcoming, accommodating, attentive, and all around just kind. The atmosphere, hospitality, decorations, everything about Nana Vida was perfect.
Boulenc Bed + Bread is without doubt one of the best places that we've ever stayed. The staff were all incredibly welcoming, friendly and willing to give reccomendations for things to check out across the city. The hotel and rooms themselves are beatifully designed and reflect the colourful aesthetic of Oaxaca. The breakfast and happy hour cocktails were also brilliant. The main highlight was definitely the roof terrace - which we often had to ourselves to relax in the morning/evening. We hope to come back again soon!
What a great place to stay! It is only 5 minutes walk to the Zocolo. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff is wonderful. There is a beautiful garden courtyard where you can relax at the end of the day and sip the house Mezcal. Breakfast was delicious and varied each day. Sarah does a great job making sure everyone's stay is the best. She puts her personal touch on this small, quant boutique hotel! All of her restaurant and other recommendations were spot on!
Our stay at AYOOK was the best on our trip to Mexico, it exceeded our expectations. The hotel staff were warm and welcoming, we had to book a last minute room for a few hours and they helped answer our questions, even book our taxi as needed. The breakfast was exceptional, the vibe of the place is very calm, relaxing and quiet. Though it is located in the main road, we couldn't hear much noise, the rooms were clean and designed really well.
There is no breakfast at the hotel only a sad little coffee bar. No worries. There is abundance of excellent coffee and breakfast options an easy walk away. The location is the best thing, next to the Plaza de San Dominico with all the shops, restaurants and happenings, yet on a relativley quiet street. Staff was pleasant and professional. There is a lovely roof deck and the ambiance is clean with old world charm.
We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Antonieta! I did a lot of research before booking a hotel, and this hotel kept coming up as one of the best hotels in Oaxaca. I'm so glad we stayed there. It is beautiful, clean, great food, centrally located and has a fantastic staff. They were very helpful with any thing we needed. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Oaxaca. xx
The hotel offers spacious studios with a small kitchen at a reasonable price, given the touristic importance of Oaxaca. It is just a five minutes walk from Sto. Domingo and close to all other attractions of Oaxaca city. It is easy to reach by car and has on-site parking, which uses to be a mayor problem in many other hotels of the city centre.
This is one of the nicest boutique hotels I have ever been in. The hotel and the rooms are beautifully decorated with indigenous artifacts. The breakfast was exceptional and the staff were incredibly friendly. The location is great too. Just on the edge of the historic center but easy to walk anywhere.
Tranquil boutique hotel with a handful of rooms, all opening onto the inner courtyard with a lovely jasmine tree for shade. Super clean. Great amenities in the room. Nice, simple breakfast. Staff very helpful for advice & booking needs. Drinks available from their little onsite "bar" too.
One of the best hotels we have stayed at in Mexico. very comfortable bed, huge TV,fast WIFI. There was even the ever elusive trifecta in the shower: hot water, large shower and great water pressure. Ana was amazing, she was responsive and gave great recommendations for restaurants.
It is the best location in Oaxaca city. The inner courtyard , kitchen, roof, and rooms are beautifully designed with green pottery, tile work, plants. Nightly turn down service was a lovely touch. The staff could not have been nicer. Erica, Ale, Aldo, and everyone.
Best reception team! Super helpful to find great spots in Mexico, and care a lot about their guests.
Hotel is super central, in a historical building, a lot of charm! The common areas are very nice, great to chill after a day of visit. Will come back for sure!
Hotel is fine but not a boutique hotel at all. Shower barely worked. Very tiny bathroom with old toilet and shower. Not worth the price of 100 dollars a night. Area is way too busy and chaotic but close to zocalo.
The hotel had a good location, there was a very "boutique hotel" atmosphere, the premises were quiet and not disturbed by external sources of noise, the staff were very friendly and always ready to help.
love the location and having multiple rooms for our kids. roof top lounge area and pool were great. our room was quiet even though hotel on is Main Street. 2 min walk to market for best street food.
This is a charming small boutique-style hotel with a lot of nice details. The room was nice, spacious and very clean. Also, we enjoyed the breakfast very much, as well as the intimate atmosphere.
Hotel is in a good location, only a 1 minuted walk from several restaurants and key locations to visit in Oaxaca City. Good room size and it is clean, hotel staff was friendly.
