Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers, the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples, such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng, sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.

Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Besides being a heritage city it was alive and bustling with excitement at every corner - like walking the streets of Paris.
I loved the river ride at night. Makes one feel like you on the Venice waters ( just not a clean river ).
Their souvenir photos were however very expensive and the tour recording was not clearly understood .
The Melaka Straits mosque was really special.
I would definitely like to be back.
Lots of bargain shopping 🛍️

Malacca surprised me and I ended up liking it more than I expected. If you just want to see the top tourist sites you could do that in a few days. There are nice old ruins and architecture, and plenty of museums, but the real charm is just in walking the streets. I wandered around town and was constantly finding new places to eat incredible food and shop for really beautiful crafts and local delicacies. The river is beautiful and so are all the small quiet streets and alleys, but the city really comes alive on the weekends with the Jonker Walk market and plenty of bars and eateries.
"Beautiful stay!
Hotel AMES is a perfect place to stay in Malacca. The room was very pleasant, it was sophisticated, elegant design and clean. Breakfast was excellent and incredibly varied. The hotel team has always been friendly, patient and helpful. That impressed me the most. No matter what time of day or night, you could turn to them with all your concerns. On my next stays, I will definitely check into Hotel AMES again. The price performance ratio is very good"...
Loved the room and the bathroom! It was spacious enough for 2 pax. The best part is the bathtub i would say. Bed was comfy as well. A nice view of the malacca city was an add on. Swimming pool was biggg however the wind was crazy! It was so cold.
The breakfast was slightly disappointing actually, the quality of the breakfast can be improved and variety of pastries should be added considering that it is a 4 star hotel. Overall, me and my partner had a great stay.
100% would recommend! Rosa Malacca is visually pleasing. Was greeted by friendly staff and the reception area smelt sooo nice. Room was clean and well decorated. Ample and safe parking space. Nice cafe located within the hotel and do book with breakfast too, they have a great breakfast spread! Location wise, it is near to the city center. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back here again!!
Beautiful, serene gardens which offered tranquility not far from all the renowned attractions of Melacca. The pool was so lovely and peaceful. Hosts are amazing, so helpful and went far and beyond expectations.
It was good to stay in a Dutch heritage home and support some Malacca history. This offered a better and more personal experience to hotels and is highly recommended.
Hotel is beautiful with lots of antique furniture and decorations. Location is superb as it is very close to Jonker walk and Malacca river, most of the attractions are within walking distance and lots of good food nearby. Staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to give good recommendation of the food around the area. Breakfast is very authentic Peranakan food.
The hotel is well placed close to Melaka Sentral Bus Station. I travelled from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka and it’s an easy journey.
The hotel is close to a shopping mall and various fast food outlets but is about an hours walk from Melaka town centre - public transport to and from the town centre is difficult so walk or taxi are your options
The Aava Malacca Hotel in Melaka, Malaysia is a nice place to stay in Melaka. It's just a couple of blocks away from Jonker Street. The hotel houses beautiful antique furnishings in the public areas. Staff make sure it's very clean, the beds are comfy, great location, value for money.
this owner is scammer because what ? a few time i just follow and the owner say my booking id already inside system .. but during check in day owner say no water in hotel and trying call owner few time and owner say no received booking id in system .. very bad and not recommended
the staff and the location, we had a mistake on the date that we reserved the hotel they changed the date for us but the problem was although on the website there was an on going promotion but they called us from booking.com to change the payment amount
The hotel is very close to popular places such as klebang beach, the shore sky tower, bandar hilir, jonker walk. Restaurants are also very easy to find so don't worry if you suddenly get hungry late night.
The hotel is very clean and recommended for those who wish to walking distance to Jonker walk and enjoy the malacca river with cruise. Only takes 10 minutes walking. Quiet environment as well.
Beautiful small hotel in great location in the old, historic part of town. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The interior of the hotel was picture worthy!
The location was really close with all attraction place in Malacca...only need to walk to go surround, beside hotel also have 7/11 which is really convenient
