Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers, the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples, such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng, sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.

Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Besides being a heritage city it was alive and bustling with excitement at every corner - like walking the streets of Paris.
I loved the river ride at night. Makes one feel like you on the Venice waters ( just not a clean river ).
Their souvenir photos were however very expensive and the tour recording was not clearly understood .
The Melaka Straits mosque was really special.
I would definitely like to be back.
Lots of bargain shopping 🛍️

Malacca surprised me and I ended up liking it more than I expected. If you just want to see the top tourist sites you could do that in a few days. There are nice old ruins and architecture, and plenty of museums, but the real charm is just in walking the streets. I wandered around town and was constantly finding new places to eat incredible food and shop for really beautiful crafts and local delicacies. The river is beautiful and so are all the small quiet streets and alleys, but the city really comes alive on the weekends with the Jonker Walk market and plenty of bars and eateries.
Eco Tree Hotel is in a central location in Malacca town. If you self-drive its great because you can access all points of interest. The room (718) was comfy for a twin sharing room. All amenities provided. Small issue - light bulbs in the room located above ceiling were blown. Not an inconvenience but attention to these details will certainly make the guests stay more pleasant. The in-room bathroom facility was good, clean and powerful shower. I will certainly make this a stay should I visit Malacca again.
the room was very clean and the sheets were super crisp and freshly pressed :) clearly it was freshly prepared just for the new customer and not recycled like some other hotels:) the vibe of the hotel is very pleasant, jovially bright and visually stimulating with aesthetic paintings places on the wall and minimalist furnitures:) I really appreciate the Malacca traditional aspects it tried to emulate from those intricate flowery tiles it chose on the corridors leading to our rooms:)
The location very strategic located nearest to the town & tourist attraction eg river cruise, dataran pahlawan, museum samudra. Plus shop & restaurant everywhere..very convenient for a short trip. The breakfast also was good for kids and adult. Very worth it. Price is cheaper compared to same level hotel❤️ staff very friendly & helpful. Tqqq. This is not paid review. Honest review from me as my kids and I very satified with the Hotel especially the pool🤩
The hotel is beautiful! The staff are super friendly. They were so thoughtful about accommodating our kids in extra beds (one of which was a super cute tent bed much loved by our son). The room was spectacular, clean, with crisp clean sheets and comfortable duvets. The food was great. The location is ideal to explore the town, as it is right in the heart. This hotel deserves its five stars. We would definitely stay there again if we visit Malacca again.
Its location, clean, staff was very very kind and polite. They take extra effort to call and ask if everything is good etc. love their hospitality. Will definitely come back here again if im going melaka. Walking distance to nice halal food. Walking distance to Mahkota parade. From there u can go to pahlawan mall and etc. Breakfast was nice, a standard menu in Malaysia hotels..they change the menu slightly the next day. Love love this place
We did a booking absolutely unplanned, because after a couple hours in Melaka we made a decision to stay for a night. So we are family of 3 (2 adults and kid 5yo)we were looking for a hotel with pool and breakfast, close to the city center. Luckily the hotel had enough rooms and we did a booking same day as check in . The room was nice , the hotel pool with infinity view, the breakfast was full of choice! We had a good experience.
THE PLACE IS NICE! It is clean, AC is working, Smart TV has netflix, hot water is working, kitchen was clean. And plus IT IS INSTARGAMABLE. I choose this place cuz it is just right across Mahkota Medical Center. Walking distance 5 mins to the hospital, it also has shopping malls near by, so it is easy to find foods. I would definitely stay stay here again if I visit Malacca
I had visited Malacca to work remotely and spent quite an amount of time at the guest house. The wifi connectivity was great and allowed me to work without any issues. The premises was clean, well maintained and had ample of parking space. The host, Willy was a true standout going as far as providing me a hand written list of places of interest around Malacca town.
I stayed in this hotel 4 years ago. After the pandemic I returned to stay at this hotel. To my pleasant surprise not only it was restored to its former glory but it has increase in size, deco and facilities.
If you like authentic Baba Nyonya Peranakan Malaccan heritage boutique hotel, then this is the best place to stay.
The Aava Malacca Hotel in Melaka, Malaysia is a nice place to stay in Melaka. It's just a couple of blocks away from Jonker Street. The hotel houses beautiful antique furnishings in the public areas. Staff make sure it's very clean, the beds are comfy, great location, value for money.
The hotel is very close to popular places such as klebang beach, the shore sky tower, bandar hilir, jonker walk. Restaurants are also very easy to find so don't worry if you suddenly get hungry late night.
The location of the hotel which is not at the city centre makes the hotel easily to get to and less traffic hassle since Malacca is known to have heavy traffic on their roads.
