Great location a 20 minite walk from the bus station and a few minutes from town centre. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, asking if we wanted free coffee water, room cleaned etc. The room was modern with a fan and the bathroom had hot water and free toothpaste, razor etc. There was a lounge area with great views over the town . Some of the rooms don't have a window but we were shown a selection and chose one with a window for the same price.

We had a great stay! The room was nice, with jacuzzi. Gilbert is such a nice man, he made us feel at home and even is a good chef! So if you're not want to drive to the centre of Esteli he can cook you a very good meal.
The area is beautiful and slightly cooler then te rest of Nicaragua.
When we come back one day, we will definitely stay at Gilbert's place again and bring stroopwafels, or maple syrup ;)

We had one of our nicest stays of our whole trip here at Finca Fuente de Vida! We only spent 2 nights but it was so lovely and relaxing. The room itself is basic but we knew to expect that, and in terms of value for money it was great. The farm itself is beautiful, the little trail around it was a great addition and made for a nice morning stroll. There were plenty of private seating areas all around the farm, we spent one of our afternoons just relaxing in the hammocks and reading, also watching the many hummingbirds flying around. We were recommended some walks in the local area, both with and without a guide, which helped when we weren’t too sure what to do with our morning. The food provided was some of the best we have had, we only had one breakfast and one dinner but they were both delicious, the portion size is really generous and the variety is great. My partner and I are both vegan and they were able to accommodate our dietary requirements without a hesitation. The thing that made the whole trip for us was the extra effort they put in for my birthday, my partner mentioned it at the time of booking, and not only did they remember and wish me a happy birthday, but they also surprised me with the most delicious vegan banana cake! It was a really personal touch, and made it a birthday to remember. I would whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone wanting to escape to the countryside, and cooler climates, for a few days. Thank you very much for having us!

Great weather, many options for breakfast (10+ cafes), lunch and dinner with fair prices, no as expensive as other tourist-heavy locations. Close to several natural reserves like Miraflor, Tisey Estanzuela. You can walk almost everywhere, if you want to watch a soccer match this is the city for it.

Somoto canyon is good place to visit. You can get there by chicken bus. Another good thing for cigar lovers is that it has few small and big cigar factories in the town, you can tour and buy some really good cigars.

Great point for going to the highlands.
Great point for going to the highlands. Tree Huggers were excellent arranging a trip to Somoto Canyon and a 2 night stay in the Miraflor Reserve. I highly recommend doing both. These excursions were the highlight of our trip.

I think the people are the best part of Esteli.
I think the people are the best part of Esteli. By the time I leave, I will have been here for two months. I've met great people, made new friends, and everybody I've crossed paths with on the street has been nothing but hospitable and helpful. It's a shame tourism is so slow here right now. In two months, I've seen nothing nor heard anything from other travelers that there's even a hint of problems here.
