The days were hot and I wasn't able to walk as much as I would liked. The evenings were better to walk around in. The pollution from the vehicles can get bad during the rush hours and those busses are a killer!!

Managua is a beautiful city with many wonderful places to enjoy nature and delicious food. My favorite spots were Paseo Salvador Allende, Love Island, and Arbolario.
The transportation was easy and not expensive. I use the In Driver application. It works very well. most of the time.
Private Tours to other cities are easy to get for a very good price. I contacted La Lorita and I am very satisfied with them

It was a cultural wonder for me.
It was a cultural wonder for me. I got to see a few of the volcanos, surprised that one is active with smoke coming from it. Loved sampling the foods in Granada, tacos were different from what I've had before in the US, they were rolled & fried. Must try the plantain fritos with cabbage salad. Loved the views of the countryside & riding a horse as well as a caponera. For adventure seekers there is ziplining in Masaya and many cultural shows & exhibition all around.

Nicaragua as a whole, is an amazing country with so much nature and cultural experiences,
vibrant towns like Leon and Granada
out of time locations like Ometepe
remote last of its kind adventures in the Miskito Coast
stunning Pacific beaches with some of the best waves literally in the western hemisphere.
laid back Creole culture and post card stunning beauty on islands of Nica Caribbean,
However,,,,IMO
Managua is pretty meh.. Actually, really meh... and expensive.
The layout of the city is nonsensical, traffic is really bad.
There is no real downtown, or old parts. however, to be fair the old city was destroyed by a massive earthquake in 1972.
There really are not than many good restaurants given the population of the city, really not much to do or see here, (certainly in my own opinion)
If you are brave enough, wander around in the " oriental" - the largest market in Central America.
For travelers, Managua is mostly a hub for getting to other parts of the country,
To note: there is a minority Asian community of Koreans and Chinese and I have found that the Nica-Chinese food to be some of the best in Central America.

If you have limited time and can only visit one city in Nicaragua, Granada would be a better choice. The breeze from Lake Nicaragua makes Granada more bearable weather-wise, the streets are pedestrian-friendly and the interesting places are more accessible.

Managua is just like San Salvador, San Jose, small streets with too many cars on the road - I suggest you have a local drive you around as streets don't have names here and everything direction is described by a landmark -
The Wayak is a safe haven amid the busy Managua life...
for us most importantly the staff and service was amazing. we had some issues with doing the covid test for the transit in the US and they helped us so much, so everything worked out at the end. they organized us some tests and also gave us some great tips what to do in Managua. they were so friendly and helpful. we were very lucky that we chose this hotel!
also our room was very clean, big and comfortable. the hotel is full of great art of the owner and gives a personal touch to the hotel.
This place is extremely convenient for those quick stays in between locations. We stayed twice here throughout our two-month trip to Nicaragua. It is basic yet comfortable and an expansive property. Very practical stay where you can walk across the street to the airport or take a hotel shuttle.
The room was huge and comfy. The view from the 4th floor was very nice. Nearby the hotel, there are many excellent restaurants and a nice supermarket within walking distance. The room had a fully furnished kitchen that made our stay comfy. The breakfast was very good, with many options.
The hotel was clean, in good repair and modern. It is located close to the things we need in Managua when we travel to the city. The breakfast was good as well. It was too cold to use the pool but we sat near it after dinner for a time.
This hotel, where we stayed for just one night, won us over with its clean rooms, comfortable beds, and delicious breakfast buffet. Another great feature was their flexibility in allowing us to check in late at night.
Not my first stay and not my last. I enjoy the hotel...its ambience, its set up, its staff, its location. I'm glad I found the place and will visit again. Thanks!
This is a little oasis in dusty Managua. Eduardo and his family were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good.
