Managua is a beautiful city with many wonderful places to enjoy nature and delicious food. My favorite spots were Paseo Salvador Allende, Love Island, and Arbolario.
The transportation was easy and not expensive. I use the In Driver application. It works very well. most of the time.
Private Tours to other cities are easy to get for a very good price. I contacted La Lorita and I am very satisfied with them

It was a cultural wonder for me.
It was a cultural wonder for me. I got to see a few of the volcanos, surprised that one is active with smoke coming from it. Loved sampling the foods in Granada, tacos were different from what I've had before in the US, they were rolled & fried. Must try the plantain fritos with cabbage salad. Loved the views of the countryside & riding a horse as well as a caponera. For adventure seekers there is ziplining in Masaya and many cultural shows & exhibition all around.

Nicaragua as a whole, is an amazing country with so much nature and cultural experiences,
vibrant towns like Leon and Granada
out of time locations like Ometepe
remote last of its kind adventures in the Miskito Coast
stunning Pacific beaches with some of the best waves literally in the western hemisphere.
laid back Creole culture and post card stunning beauty on islands of Nica Caribbean,
However,,,,IMO
Managua is pretty meh.. Actually, really meh... and expensive.
The layout of the city is nonsensical, traffic is really bad.
There is no real downtown, or old parts. however, to be fair the old city was destroyed by a massive earthquake in 1972.
There really are not than many good restaurants given the population of the city, really not much to do or see here, (certainly in my own opinion)
If you are brave enough, wander around in the " oriental" - the largest market in Central America.
For travelers, Managua is mostly a hub for getting to other parts of the country,
To note: there is a minority Asian community of Koreans and Chinese and I have found that the Nica-Chinese food to be some of the best in Central America.

If you have limited time and can only visit one city in Nicaragua, Granada would be a better choice. The breeze from Lake Nicaragua makes Granada more bearable weather-wise, the streets are pedestrian-friendly and the interesting places are more accessible.

Managua is just like San Salvador, San Jose, small streets with too many cars on the road - I suggest you have a local drive you around as streets don't have names here and everything direction is described by a landmark -
The Wayak is a safe haven amid the busy Managua life...

Managua is a beautiful city if it was better taken care off.
Managua is a beautiful city if it was better taken care off.
I notice an increase of garbage everywhere. Even walking around some big names Hotels, the amount of garbage is discouraging. It certainly doesn't look appealing in the eyes of tourist.
It makes people of Managua look lazy with low self-esteem= low self-respect
Hotel is 5 minutes from airport located in a quiet area with not much around it. Hotel provided the number of a taxi to arrange ahead of time since my flight came in at 1am and arranging it ahead of time made everything go super smoothly. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was yummy and a great way to start my trip in Nicaragua! I definitely recommend Hotel Munch especially before and after flights at the airport.
It’s like living in a museum! And it’s actually an art gallery)) Staff Fernanda was very helpful, restaurant was closed the night I arrived and she helped me to get delivery, I don’t speak Spanish. Breakfast next morning was included and excellent! Also they arranged the taxi to the airport next morning and Carlos kindly asked the driver to show me little bit of Managua.
I must say that i am doing this review as Oscar the owner has been a nice gentleman. I missed my connection to Managua and we were stranded in Nassau. Therefore i could not stay at La Bicicleta. On top the airline company lost my bag in Madrid. After concersation with Oscar he made a nice gesture and therefore i really want to do this positive review.
On this trip I discovered that heavy rain makes it really romantic when you open the patio door onto the green jungle behind the hotel. Yes, green jungle in Managua. Get your patio door open or just look out the window in the rain. Very good nature in the city. I missed this in the past several trips.
Clean room, the modern desing of the room is nice
Good cuality of the food, the cuality of the food is very good
The bathroom was very nice and clean, was amazing,
And the infrastructure if the hotel itself is very nice, looks very good.
Location was great, the room had iron and iron board (usually need to ask for it elsewhere), bar opens until late, great breakfast and hotel helped us to exchange some money at market rate when we ran out of local currency, thanks!
Love the location, SO close to the airport. Very easy to arrive to after a late-night landing in Managua. In a gated community so felt safe to arrive at night. The room was simple but excellent for what I needed!
I have stayed at Hotel Colonia Boutique every time I am in Managua. It is a fantastic property, centrally located. The staff is accommodating in every way. Couldn't say enough about what a great property it is.
The hotel is close to some decent restaurants, particularly our favourite ceviche restaurant. and the mall so it's quite convenient. Breakfast was typical and was nice to eat it in the courtyard.
the staff was very friendly and helpful, they tried everything in their power to make me feel welcome. The staff is the best part of this hotel. The pool was awesome and the bed very comfortable.
Very convenient hotel for late arrival/departure. They organize pick-up against a small fee, 4 minutes ride or so from the airport. Basic accommodation, but does the trick for a night.
Hotel is very modernized, clean, and beautiful. The rooms are top quality, comfy and I had a great view of Managua. I loved the personal asistente they offer through WhatsApp.
The best part was everything,
from the polite staff, to the most amazing sushi restaurant. The room was comfortable and bed so comfy.
taxis on hand , service impeccable.
A beautiful boutique-style hotel, very comfy bed, hot water, desk and great chair for working, nice little pool, food and service was great, will definitely be back
I've been to several hotels in Managua since 2013.
Definately this is the best one!!!
Great for both business and Family.
