The rooms are really small. The beds are really uncomfortable, very small. The hotel is nice but very old and not well maintained. It doesn't include parking, you have to spend a lot of money paying an external parking lot. There is only one option for restaurant and is super expensive. The breakfast buffet is very limited.

Gym and Spa were really nice amenities for Norway in February. The breakfast was excellent on the days I was able to make use of it.

The room was spacious and the bathroom was spotless and also quite spacious, both presumably to accommodate people with movement disabilities considering the hotel is attached to a hospital.

Bursting with culture and scenery, and arranged around a charming harbour, Stavanger has an array of restaurants and museums, and is home to Norway’s oldest cathedral, Stavanger Cathedral.
Some of the most popular museums to see in the city are the Stavanger Museum, Rogaland Art Museum and Stavanger Maritime Museum, which shows off this port cities rich maritime history.
Looking for some sightseeing inspiration? Then stroll along the narrow cobbled streets and soak up the charm of the city's past in Old Stavanger (Gamle Stavanger) which features traditional white wooden houses with red-rooftops and the Norwegian Canning Museum.
Sightseeing and day trips aside, other activities include hiking and climbing around the amazing and picturesque landscapes of the city and The Lysefjord. During winter, locals flock to Stokkavannet Lake for ice skating, and if the lake is not iced over there are ice skating opportunities at the indoor Arena Sørmarka.

Neat tidy small city, but hilly.
Neat tidy small city, but hilly. Mainly cobbled pedestrian streets which are easy to get around. Shopping very expensive and in virtually cash free. Use a card for everything - preferably pre-loaded with Krone.
Some great museums and these are very good value. Other attractions are, like the shopping, are very costly and probably designed to extract the maximum amount from the tourists. This is very noticeable when the obscenely large cruse ships arrive and disgorge thousands of passengers,
Plenty of restaurants and bars, but don't go looking for Norwegian food.
You can have your pick of Chinese, Thai, Indian etc... and try not to be too shocked by the prices.
We really liked Stavanger and would happily recommend it, but remember that Norway is an expensive country, so be prepared to budget for it.

Stavanger is beautiful and I will absolutely go back.
Stavanger is beautiful and I will absolutely go back. We came to hike the pulpit. Absolutely beautiful and sunny. I recommend starting early.
We started at 8 am with not too many people.
A different story when we were coming back down. Stavanger and the The Pulpit or Preikestolen was absolutely wort a visit. The Norwegian engineering of the tunnels are amazing. 4 bars on my cell the whole way through the tunnels below the water.

If you have extra time after beautiful Bergen and scenic Flam/Naeroyfjord cruise (not to be missed), Stavanger is charming for two nights (took express bus from Bergen -- easy and convenient downtown to downtown). In Stavanger, I took the Rodne cruise-only under Pulpit Rock (very enjoyable) along Lysefjord because I cannot hike up Pulpit Rock. In Stavanger, I also visited Gamle Stavanger (quaint), the Printing, Canning and Maritime Museums (all small but excellent), as well as the informative Petroleum Museum (near Hotel Victoria). I was able to take the Flybussen airport bus upon my departure and the Stavanger airport is convenient.

A quiet place to stay with nice friendly staff.
A quiet place to stay with nice friendly staff. Facilities (kitchen & bath room ) need to be updated. Location is not so easy to access by walking from city center or bus station with a luggage because it is an uphill walking for several blocks.

I enjoyed being close to the Mosvatnet to do the special extra Norway Labour Day parkrun. It is about 15 minutes walk to get to the Mosvatnet to the start and finish of the Stavanger parkrun. The hotel is about half an hour's walk from the city center. If being closer to the city center is more priority I would recommend a hotel in the city center. It is a pretty port with an old town. A few museums to go into if it is raining. There is also bus top tours to do which I enjoyed and would recommend as you get a good overview of the city and learn some history at the same time.

It is a mirific city, small islands around it, you can travel to these via the public transportation (Kolumbus). The tour to Preikestolen is a must, it is one of the most beautiful tours in the world! Very cozy city and nice people. I fell in love with it! Very helpful at the tourist information also.
The location of the property was perfect for us. The view from our hotel room overlooking the lake with Swans and ducks was magical. The breakfast variety was wonderful and included vegan options. The extra added security of needing to use your room card to access your floor was comforting. The beds were comfortable with the fresh white linens that make everything seem cleaner. Being able to access the marina area and getting to the bus terminal added to our appreciation of the hotel location.
An apartment in Norway offers the great advantage of not having to face the high prices of gastronomy in the evening. The apartment is well equipped with two TVs, enough cookware, a small oven and 4 hotplates, as well as a dishwasher and washing machine. In the bathroom, underfloor heating warms the feet and air conditioning/heating can be set individually for the whole appartment. The apartment is located in the middle of city center of Stavanger.
We felt welcomed from the first moment. Check-in was super easy, and the room was exactly what we booked and expected. The gym is up-to-date and has a spectacular view over the city.
TIP: Try out the outstanding cocktails in the Espier Bar on the top floor! (Located next to the Gym with the exact same remarkable view over the city and harbor)
We enjoyed our trip to Stavanger and will choose the Clarion Hotel again if we come back.
Great if you are looking for a cheap location in walking distance to the city centre. It’s clean and the owners are quick to answer any questions online.
The room furnishings are simple but functional. The bathroom has a shower but is very small. Since I'm usually only in hotel rooms to sleep, I don't need more luxury. However, I recommend booking a double room, even if you are alone. The beds in the single rooms are very narrow.
I have selected a family room which is much larger in size than basic rooms.
Room size was amazing.
The windows were very large which was great.
Prices were on the cheap side unlike my other experiences with norway hotels.
Breakfast was exptional and offered too many selections.
Parking was on the cheap side as well 120KR/day.
Hotel staff were very friendly and overall nice.
Hotel offers free coffee around the clock.
The property was very centrally located and easily accessible to places in Stavanger. We basically walked everywhere. It was immaculately clean inside and very comfortable. The rooftop terrace was large and roomy, although we did not use it as it was covered with debris from the overhanging trees and had not been cleaned up. The kitchen was well stocked with the essentials.
Perfect location for walking around the city. Right on the harbor. Old time charm with a warm and cozy feeling lobby. Lovely buffet breakfast, with so many choices. Very comfortable beds and excellent friendly service. A small older hotel with that special feeling that the new big chains can’t ever compete with as they totally lack the charm.
The location was more than perfect at the center of the city. I had the impression that the owner of the apartment does everything to make guests feel comfortable during the stay. Each apartment has a laundry machine. This was really appreciated by me and by many travelers who will arrive in Stavanger after visiting other cities of Norway.
It is very inexpensive in Norway, about 10 minutes drive from Stavanger International Airport and also the city center of Stavanger. Now it is in a new 2nd floor of apartment, and you can have a good room, a good kitchen, and a very comfortable living room. The host is very friendly and very helpful, I highly recommend this place to stay.
Breakfast was wonderful, good choices of items, very tasty! Room had great views of the neighborhood. The hotel is located on a busy main road but we had not trouble sleeping, it was quiet.
The best breakfast buffet I’ve ever had. Have been to many hotels and this was exceptional. Rooms comfortable. Location great. Parking offsite. Would recommend.
Nice space for our family of 4 adults. Nice location for seeing Stavanger. Great layout of bathroom with separate toilet and shower rooms. Nice kitchen
