Fly direct to Tromsø Airport from several European cities or Oslo for domestic travellers (2 hours). Alternatively, take a train to Narvik then bus to Tromsø (approximately 4 hours). No direct water routes available.
Tromsø Airport (TOS) is the most convenient for both domestic and international travellers due to its proximity, just 5km from Tromsø city centre. It offers numerous direct flights and excellent transport links to the city.

Unique, arty, traditional and lively pretty much sums up the great mix that the island of Tromsø has to offer. The city is home to the unique Arctic Cathedral, an array of pubs, cafés and an energetic street culture.

The city’s main square often holds a variety of markets and its streets are lined with colourful and old-style buildings and houses. Tromsø is one of the best places to view the amazing colours of the Northern Lights.
Nicknamed the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ due to being a launching point for polar expeditions, Tromsø provides numerous activities such as hiking and kayaking during summer, and skiing and dog-sledding in winter, all in a backdrop of eye-catching scenery.

Tromsø is breathtaking and definitely worth visiting,...
Tromsø is breathtaking and definitely worth visiting, regardless of if you're chasing the polar lights, or just want to explore the city and the area during the day. The city is in close touch with nature and offers variety of different activities. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is going there during the Easter holidays (as I did), since a lot of stores, museums, restaurants, etc. tend to be closed.

Tromso is nice town with plenty of places to eat and drink.
Tromso is nice town with plenty of places to eat and drink. The restaurants offer a mixture of cuisine including local delicacies. There are a reasonable amount of shops offering local goods. It is an easy walk across the bridge to visit the Cable Car, definitely worth a visit to enjoy spectacular views. We arranged for a Northern Lights Tour which was fantastic. A comfortable, luxury coach drove us an hour outside of Tromso to an area with no light pollution, we had perfect weather so did not have to move on as the Northern Lights offered us the most wonderful light show for a four hour period. We were supplied with Hot Chocolate & cookies which kept us warm. The driver would have driven to another location if the weather had not been clear but on this occasion it was not necessary.

Tromsø is an amazing city.
Tromsø is an amazing city. It’s not as small as one may think.. has the right amount of grocery stores, cafés, bars etc. Quite a good nightlife, lots of young students/ tourists around so you’re never alone during solo travel! Tourism and guided activities are exceptional, they provide all the equipment, meals (in some cases) and transportation. Overall you will never be bored in Tromsø, I reccomend everyone to visit even if you’re not a sporty person there’s an activity for every fitness level.

Tromso is in the middle of aurora ring.
Tromso is in the middle of aurora ring. We are here just for northern light. During our visit in March, all road is damped and muddy, not easy to get around. Find a place to stay in warm weather for watching aurora. Getting to mountain by cable car is my favorite activity to see Tromso at night with aurora.

This city is an amazing location to go on a Aurora Borealis tour! Marianne's expertise and commitment to helping travelers achieve their dream of seeing the Aurora is unmatched. I highly recommend booking multiple nights with her like we did. So good to support a local woman owned business.

Everything about this hotel is jest perfect.
This hotel located about 1.5 kilometers from the center, just next to a forest and a spring.
That is the perfect place to watch northern lights, and to enjoy the nature.
The place is very clean, and has everything human being needs.
The stuff is very kind and pleasant to talk to. They helped me whenever I needed their help and even guided me how to catch the northern lights.
Definitely, The best hotel have ever been to.
Our stay was perfect and wonderful. Perfect house to see the northern lights, quiet and with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The views are stunning. Kristin has been a great host, thoughtful and solving any questions for the best our stay. It has been a romantic experience, beautiful and I recommend 100%. You will love the environment, its tranquility and above all if you can see the aurora borealis over the house, as we saw it. Awesome ❤️🇧🇻
We stayed twice at the hotel for one day, once when we arrived in Norway, and once when we left. That probably says it all. Very helpful and friendly staff, moderate pricing, clean, functional rooms (not overly big, but as expected) reduced to what you need, but in a nice way. Easy contactless check-in, if you need it. Noise was never an issue, although the hotel is pretty much downtown. Also easily accessible by bus from the airport, if needed.
The overall stay was great. The breakfasts were amazing, the services as cleaning on top. The bedroom was comfortable and the beds were amazing with TV for shared device to connect to Netflix, Spotify, etc.. Location of the hotel is one of the best locations possible bus stops in 100 metres from the hotel (bus to the rest of the city, bus from/to the airport) and with great location for most of the guide trips that I took (5 minutes by walk).
A really nice surprise is that coffee, hot chocolate and tea are 24h free for all guests and the kitchen can be used any time, which adds a welcome option for lunch and dinner since restaurants in Tromso can be quite expensive.
The Rooms are very cosy, the staff helpful and friendly and the common bathrooms were always clean during our whole stay. We also took the Northern Lights Tour offered by the hotel and can also really recommend it.
The hotel was very close to the port where we arrived on the Hurtigruten. They had a great tour desk where we booked tours including the Northern Lights which we got to see in all it's glory. You can also do dog sledding and reindeer sledding. They also have a great breakfast buffet. I enjoyed watching the snowflakes fly by the window whilst eating breakfast. Our room had a bath and shower which was a real comfort to help you relax.
cozy small nicely furnished cabin with a beautiful view. We really liked the concept of choosing a breakfast variation which they bring directly to your cabin.
We recommend booking a car early enough in advance since the accommodation is 40 min away from the city centre/ airport and cars are not easy to get spontaneously. 3 of 4 nights northern lights were easily so see.
Everyone was super friendly- we would definitely come back.
We arrived late at night so it was nice to come to a hotel with a 24 hour front desk. The room was spacious and quiet. The hotel offered a bagged breakfast and we had an early flight, so we ordered one and we were pleasantly surprised. It arrived on time and was fine for what we needed. Overall, it was a short, but pleasant experience.
The provided breakfast was very good and a nice way to start off the day. The location of the hotel, a hill up from the main streets, but still very close and easily walkable. An elevator made it easy to transport luggage. The rooms are compact and minimally furnished, but it was enough for my stay, and generally met my expectations.
Nice hostel, unfortunately you have to share only one toilet and the shower with others, but the place, the price and the rooms were very ok and warm.
I ve found good people and I picked them up in my car to see the northern lights together.
I ve found only good guys
Very nice and clean apartment, comfortable beds (everyone traveling with me commented that they slept exceptionally good), walking distance from our Northern Lights tour and the shops, and great host. We felt right at home and had a great stay in Tromsø!
Great place, perfect mix of hotel and hostel because of the shared kitchen. Very clean and comfortable. Just like the pictures. Close to the city center. Staff was always available to respond and really nice :). The owner is really friendly.
We stayed in Prestenggata 11 and saw the Northern lights from our balcony on 2 nights. Absolutely loved the apartment, facilities, location and the hospitality of staff at Enter Tromso Viking hotel reception.
Apartment has everything what you need. Bed is super comfortable and soft. And it’s the best location to see Northern lights. During 1 week we have seen them 5 days.
Host is very nice, always ready to help.
Location was great. Nice, clean, quiet and safe. It was everything I was looking for. The staff were kind and helpful. This hotel helped make my stay in tromso amazing
The location was excellent we were able to see the northern lights just above our heads during our last night. The view of the room was breathtaking. Thank u so much
Good breakfast, great cabins with skylights and it was amazing to see the Northern Lights right outside. Free parking was great and it's easy to get to by car.
