The local buses need to run later into the nighttime.
The local buses need to run later into the nighttime. Restaurant and Fast Food place sort of central in about 4 blocks. Huka Falls Jet and Rapid Jet need to consider a shuttle service from downtown Taupo because it is dare for a Uber ride and even darer for a Taxi. My favourite place to eat was Portofino Taupo, their service was exceptional.CameronNew Zealand - 10Scored 10

A fabulous place to stay and explore we did a cruise on Lake Taupo I highly recommend on the Ernest Kemp .We visited the Huka falls which was an amazing experience. Taupo is easy to get around walking or driving and there’s lots of great shopping. We ate at a waterfront restaurant “ Lone Star “which have specials at lunchtime ,steak was awesome. We enjoyed “ Lotus Thai” fabulous food , good service staff very friendly a great night . Lake Taupo is a must see experience 😁

So many really good restaurants and cafes.
So many really good restaurants and cafes. Mini Golf and Golf at the main courses are always a must for us and we have visited all courses including the beautiful Wairekei Course many times before. Retailers are always very warm and helpful and good walking paths around the lake. Scenery also really good, especially in the winter months with the snow capped mountains. Locals always say Hi when your'e out walking etc.

Sailing on the lake is a must do activity but do dress for the occasion. he town has some interesting features and is well worth walking around. Look out for the Superloo and the DC-3 at a well known eatery. Don't miss the wool shop for some great items that are locally made. Search out the Huka Falls and all the volcanic activity above the town. Spend some time exploring the scenery by car or on foot. Learn how to pronounce the name of the town before you leave.

I'm a bit bias because my parents used to live in Taupo and we spent a lot of time in Taupo. Love Taupo for its vibrant feel, the eateries, the scenery of course the shops and the lake. Everything about Taupo is great. Could live there but we live in Australia.

It had plenty of space for the 2 of us but may have been cramped for a family of 4, but I guess that applies to most motels. Everything was clean and tidy and the room facilities were more than enough for our 3 day stay. Although we were about 2.5km from the centre of Taupo we were only about 100m from the lake shore and the walk into Taupo could be easily made using the walkway along the lake shore. We stayed in a 1bdrm apartment which was the perfect size for our young family of 3. The room was a fantastic size so we could all stay comfortably. The pool and gym is great and very clean, gardens beautifully kept. But the staff are the best thing we think; from front desk to house keeping everyone was very helpful, laid back but attentive, warm, friendly and professional at every exchange.
